Random HMW General Discussion-type stuff

...better late than never. Hopefully with this bad boy around, much less derailment will go on.

The last two minutes or so of this made me chuckle.

Well what's the bloody purpose of that Autobot thread then?

Well, I think the ORIGINAL intent was Rage Bot wondering where his backup was/general rallying cry.

Yes and then he learnt that an Autobot expecting backup is like PETA expecting me to give up meat.

It just ain't gonna happen.

So then the thread became about sillyness. And while I love sillyness, convince me why we need two threads for sillyness when people have already been complaining about the sillyness of the Mods.

You want us to be silly in more than one thread? :P

Easy. This is the official thread for silliness. Ergo, people who don't care for the silliness can avoid it altogether and at the same time this epidemic thread derailment can be, well, I won't say 'stop' because miracles don't happen. 'Somewhat reduced' is probably a more realistic view.

Also, to wit - instead of starting a topic every time something comes up that DOESN'T quite deserve its own thread, it can go here.

Yeah, and ranting. Lots and lots of ranting. Direct the ranting here too.

That thread ... I won't even get started on my opinion of that thread. It's lost it's way/purpose in my mind.

well the bot's thread is now locked, so we can use this one.

also if you fill a deepfryer with 1/2 water 1/2 oil and drop a mogwai in it... auto deep fried critters!!!patent pending.

Water plus fry oil equals bad. Now on the other hand try a wet batter instead of dry that way your gremlins will batter them selves.
Would beer batter work I wonder?

I think the view may be that threads get locked for OT convos that mods aren't part of, but the mods are as guilty of OT stuff as anyone, so it sends mixed messages, like mods can be OT and others can't.

Or it could be a case of some being more lenient than others.

There's a difference between a little off-topic rambling within a thread and complete and total derailment of the thread. Once the thread has become just a collection of random craziness, it's time to settle down and move on. Unless, of course, you have a permanent thread dedicated solely to the nutjobbery that seems to flourish here. :)

Deep Thoughts by Mogwai Prime:

"If the Deathstar destroyed a planet wouldn't it destroy itself by the sudden lack of gravity acting upon it or the debris from the exploding planet?"

Personally, I'm of the mindset that sees the GD part and goes... General Discussion... hmmm... So how about them steelers? Going for their 6th super bowl ring eh? I mean, it could be a lot worse in all honesty. There's no camwhores, there's trolling, but it could be a lot worse.

So what if someone wants to spam with "I'm a horrible grandson. I don't call my grandma enough." and "I just found out my grandma had a stroke." Does that make it bad? The spam, not the stroke... obviously that's bad.

*edit*

Nah, it's far enough out of the orbit and has thick armor. Remember, the only vunlerable point was that single vent along the trench?

Interestingly enough, if anyone ever tried to do something like that in a movie or something now, and it wasn't caught as a star wars thing, it would be lamblasted for being really poor scripting.

Like Armageddon?

Death Start silliness aside, the Beast (as discovered in the Obama thread) needs its own alt-mode and category.

The Beast
2,000 xp - Stram (strafes you with combat shotguns and tear gas while it runs you over)
4,000 xp - Exile (CIA arrests you and removes you from the mission for attacking the President)
Heck, make it a triple changer...
6,000 xp - Impressive Speech (target temporary fights as an ally because of being influenced)

Yeah, they're kicking ass this season!

Next important match is Feb 14th; another chance to slaughter the Panther scum.

Id say this is a pretty effective strafe.

Perfect example of what a vehicle with Stram could do.

So when do we get it? :P

Speaking of Steelers, that's one thing i don't get about football. It's a contact sport, it's a team sport...Yet any time someone takes a shot or late hit, at say your QB, and you try to stick up for him, the refs push you back some yardage instead of letting you sort things out. Now, had that hit on McGahee been on the ice...Well, I'm sure it would have looked like this except with different color uniforms.

That's not really fair towards the mods that actully, you know, are here.

Jeep and Psychout only lock threads that are flameward-bound or that are overly critcal of things on this site (I'd personally leave them open unless they became flameward-bound as well, but perhaps that's why I'll never be a mod). And I dont think I've even seen Burn lock a thread yet.

Hell, even OS has only locked one thread that I know of in months.

Now, Crazyfists, he locks threads. This is becuase he's become the reseident AS. He's nowhere to be seen for months on end, then wades in completly uninformed and makes up for lost time...

-------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, erm.

Who here is gutted that Burnly didnt manage to pull off that impossible turnover against Spurs tonight? I was absolutly gutted when that first Spurs goal came in with 2 minutes left of the match.

Burn's locked a few. But I was only posting my observation from what seems to be the attitude given off by some of the posters. However, since it's text, I could very well be misreading it.
