Heroes and Villains HMW awards...nominees

Having become tired of sorting out bugs in running GTA IV  I thought id take a break and read some forum stuff and check out some of my fellow HMWers chars to see how they are doing. Thought struck me that i am kinda like a stalker!
I have a self perseived rivalry with some and others i stumble across that have great characterisation and lead me to follow up on thier exploits. I have only been exposed to a few, but i bet there are many others worthy of nomination who have made the effort to give life to thier imagination that i would want to read.
My Hero example is...
A HMW HERO
Me, Grimlock! for The Ineptibots v0.3
Because i like the way he doesnt take it seroius and Incessant Buzzings line, "His beryllium balogna caserole often comes out a tad too salty." Which can be read in many ways lol!
Then there is my Villain example...
A HMW VILLAIN
Conjurous for the X-500 Squad [AWC]
Not because he doesnt have profiles. I dont have profiles. Not a villain because of lack of effort because his creations are worthy of much more. Often a protagonist, the x-500 Squad have become nameless, faceless Autobot killing machines to rival the Dynobots! The mystique surrounding them leads me to create scenarios to explain each and every defeat, yet brag rights are muted since the X-Hawaii50 dissapears before identification, ninja styleee every time! (:|

So if you want to nominate another players squad for Hero or Villain, without spite or malice, over the next week please do.

It's okay, like I said to you, I never did finish the bios. :P

For the Hero Award, The Ineptibots, 'cause they're Autobots.

For the Villian Award, The Ineptibots, 'cause i'm a 'Con. :P
And also a member of The Ineptibot Fan Club ... no bias on my part!

We should run a poll for this :P Kind of an SAG awards for the players. Make a couple of different categories.

I like that idea. Here's the category list I'd use:

Characters:
Best Villain (Predacon)
Best Villain (Decepticon)
Best Hero (Maximal)
Best Hero (Autobot)
Best Rivalry
Best Teamwork

Teams:
Best Villain (Pred/Con)
Best Hero (Maxi/Bot)
Best Rivalry
Best Teamwork

First Annual HMW Awards

Pre Reset.

I was thinking we could turn this into a yearly thing maybe.

If you guys don't mind this is a project I'd like to take the lead on. Who knows maybe I can start doing "Mogwai's Roast of *Insert Name*" That sounds like fun also :)).

Something tells me there would be a lot of stuff censored in that if it's posted on here, haha.

I like the idea of this awards stuff. Perhaps there could be one for best run tourney or something like that?

Run one for pre-reset, we can use it as a "celebration" and walk down memory lane for End Game.

But answer me this furball, how are you going to stop this turning into a favouritism thing when someone has his buddies all vote for him all the time?

Easy Each player can only win one or two awards, it will help spread the love around also. Plus I hold the belief that most of us have a sense of integrity and honor whether you are bots, cons, maximal or pred.

I say we finalise the categories, everyone gets to nominate two in each but not themselves, and can only nominate one in their own faction per category (ie, I'd put down two con, bot and maxi nominations for each of those categories but only one pred). That should spread the love around a little more, and then we can have a vote-off for the top however-many of each category.

Isn't running the awards only for pre-reset players already showing a great deal of favoritism? Why not just include all players?

Better yet, have both sides of the reset have their own awards. Though, in all honesty, it's not favouritism at all - the pre-reset game lasted for nearly as many years as the post-reset game has in months.

The intention was to run only ONE pre-reset and use it as a part of End Game because there's a number of players no longer playing as well as a number of characters no longer in existence.

Don't worry GS, there will be PLENTY of chances for your ego to be stroked as post-reset will be run numerous times as Mogwai wants to turn this into an on-going thing and no doubt will continue well into HMW2.

I was thinking something along these lines. The categories I like:

Categories wrote:HMW Most Valuable Player
Each faction MVP are the only nominees for this category. Those four are voted on in the HMWGD.

Most Valuable Player (Each faction separately)
Each faction nominates two players that they feel are the most valuable to their factions. Then polls will be run in their respective factions to determine the factions MVP. The individual faction MVPs will then face off in the HMW MVP.

Most Heroic (Autobot and Maximal Only)
Each faction nomitates one player that they feel has been there through thick and thin. These two then get voted on in the HMWGD.

Most Villainous (Decepticon and Predacon Only)
Each faction nomitates one player that they feel has been the most destructive and ruthless. These two then get voted on in the HMWGD.

Most Improved (Each faction separately)
Each of the four factions nominates two players they feel has improved the most in their faction. These are then voted on in their respective faction boards.

Best Bio
Each faction nominates one player that they feel has the best bio for their team/bots. These four are then voted on in the HMWGD.

Best Named Team/Character
Each faction nominates one player that they feel has the best named Team and/or Character. Canon names will be disqualified. These four are then voted on in the HMWGD.

Best Rivalry
Each faction nominates one player and their rival for the top rivalry in HMW. These four rivalries are then voted on in the HMWGD.

Best Teamwork (Each faction separately)
Each faction nominates two players that they feel have provided the best support, mission assistance and help to their individual factions. These polls will be created in their respective faction forums for each faction to vote on.

I think that would give each faction some awards and also create some overall winners.

How often did you want to run it?

I initially thought monthly, but given the number of categories getting people to nominate and vote each month might be a bit too much. Maybe every three months?

Every six months seems like a better idea, and would allow us to add a "Best Tournament or Subgame" category too.

As for post and pre reset I was think along the lines of V1 and V2. I think this should be for all active players. If they aren't here anymore then that's not our faults. That was their choice. The people that have made the game what it is today are still here making the game what it is now. They will be the ones that make the game and the boards what they are tomorrow. I know it sounds a little cruel but, we can reminisce in topics.

I was thinking yearly, it would make the awards worth that much more. And, give plenty of time for new players to get established and maybe earn one also.

I disagree. There's been a number of people over the years who have contributed to the game but aren't here any more, some who would love to still be here if other things hadn't gotten in the way.

And I don't see a problem with a one-off, but if we're going to do it to celebrate 6 years of HMW1 then fine, open it up to Pre AND Post-Reset.

As long as people realise that it's a one off thing and that from that point on it will only be for current players/characters.

And i'd prefer 6 months, yearly is just far too long of a time. But the best bit is, OS has promised us a host of tools to create stats and everything so we can do monthly awards based on performance data (similar to Red's XP games only in much more detail).

I understand your points. I can agree with bi-annual awards. As for those who aren't here anymore, how about a "Hall of Fame" or "Wall of Honor" type thing?

That's the point i'm trying to make! Maybe voting isn't necessary, even if people just nominate the folks they remember (past and present) who have had an impact on their HMW experience over the years.

Come End Game we can put something together (think of it as a tribute or whatever) and list all those nominated. It's what i've been saying about End Game in the secret lair, End Game doesn't just need to be all out battles, we can reflect on 6 years of the game as well.

Now I think we're talking two different things. You want something to showcase the last six years (which I am in total agreement with and support).

I am talking something we could do like the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild or Oscars. Letting the factions and players vote yearly on awards to be given out to the people that currently play the game. Kind of like an award ceremony for those who gave something extra to the game over the past year and made it that much more enjoyable for everyone.
