What if there was a Heavy Metal War movie? It would be animated and there'd be some bad words in it, plus lots of explosions! Plus, each fan would get to pick their favorite character and voice them!

I see what you mean, like massive battles in space and stuff. Try reading my fanfic if you have a creative mind. Not trying to be advertising or stuff, but I thin that the fanfic would make a good story for your HMW movie. It would be cool. What did you have in mind anyway? A epic battle between Megatron & the Care bears?

While I think a movie would be interesting, it might be more practical to do a series of vignettes about 2 or 3 minutes long each. They'd still take quite a while to make, no matter what software or style you were going for.
I'm still plugging away on my own comic that I started last year, but between being laid off and having to re-do over half my work due to computer problems it may never see the light of day.
Start small.

Well I'd gottena new laptop and had to use new software and just when I'd gotten the hang of it my company hung me out to dry so now any free time I had is now spent looking for a new job.
I blame them.

And at this point it's like a 'What If' or 'HMW Classic' tale after the big reset and HMW 2 coming up.

Terry Gillingham has to direct it.
Transformers set in the world of 12 Monkeys and Brazil? How awesome would that be??!
...we should get together and make some mosaics for HMW.

I’m not a great artist but I can draw and would most definitely be up for that

Mosaics would be cool. I'd only have to mesh out one or two bots or whatnot for a page and some buildings of which I have a bunch built. And it's easier than having to animate, edit, add sound and video effects, get voice actors, re-render a scene because the lip syncing is off, etc.
We'd have to call it something or than Mosaic though methinks or we'd have to take it over to the IDW forums.
How about Heavy Metal War as the main title, but then something like Briefs, or Profiles, or Tales from the CR Chamber or.. well.. you get the idea.

That I like.
Is it IDW that run the mosiacs, I thought it was a DevArt project?

It's a Dev Art project but it's all organized on the IDW forums, or at least that was the impression I got when I was looking in to them before.

I'd be interested, but the whole job hunting thing is keeping me pretty busy, but even I need some downtime from the job hunt.

Don't expect anything out of me anytime soon, but already having Dreadspawn done up, if FE wanted to write up a short script I could pop one out since I have two pc's working now one can be rendering while I'm working on the other.

I have a vague recollection of discussing HMW styled Mosaic's with someone ... I just can't remember who it was.
We still need artists though.

The only arty-type I know of here is Quietstorm, there must be others though.
Ash, I think you and Red should do that, a story about Dreadspawn would be cool. Red?

We're severly lacking on the creative front these days.
Don't even see any photoshopping done! Kitbashing has gotten quiet, and even fanfic's have fallen by the wayside.
I'm holding out until Ryan does what he does, OS does what he does, and then looking to see how HMW can connect into Transtopia. Once that's up and running I WANT people to get more creative with their HMW characters.

It was probably myself or Jeep! We had plans to do something mosaic like for the final tournie, but my lack of artistic ability, and Jeep's lack of net access has virtuly killed that...Psychout wrote:Ash, I think you and Red should do that, a story about Dreadspawn would be cool. Red?
Im up for that.Burn wrote:We're severly lacking on the creative front these days.
Tell Jeep to get has house a router/connection already then!

I'm sure theres a few here who could whip something up for a mosaic style HMW something.
As far as a name, what about something simple like maybe 'Tales of the Heavy Metal War'. I could also see this getting me more motivated to write up bios for my characters, as i wouldn't mind trying to write a story for a little comic thing like this.

Is that a possible sign for a rebirth of sorts for B.E.L.?

Agreed. We will be tied directly into the forums, Transtopia and the Role Playing group. The goal is to create this type of involvement with your characters throughout the site.
There is already a high level story to HMW2 that sets the stage for a global war between all the factions. On top of that there are plans for the Quintessons, the Fallen, Kremzeek and possibly even Unicron to show up in some form within the game.
I will post the setup story for HMW2 when I get a chance. It will be the "official" background story to start the game and then you all can take it wherever you'd like. By then we should have every resource on this site behind it.

Sounds good OS.
I should probably make a list of sorts of basic meshes I already have done that I can 'kitbash'.
I do have some HMW characters made up already besides some of my own, and a few sets I can dress up to be just about anything really.
I'd like to give it a shot but other than doing up some images I'm kinda tapped out on the creatvie end. Even if you just have a running monologue with a series of images going on in the background like some of the Mosaics I coudl probably handle that.
