I just did a Mission with someone that has the names of a few of my bots, I though it was more or less not allowed (like hard coded).... Just wondering... I mean its polite to not steal names using glitches.... or Server/game resets....

To avoid excessive drama after the October crash, those who had names 'stolen' had them reinstated.
Be warned, it wont be happening for V2.

If they've "stolen" your whole character, try pming them.
If they've just beaten you to the name, well, get over it. Just a good reason to get creative!

So are you saying its fair game in v2 and if your names get stolen, then tough crap? There is no way of reserving your characters names?

That would appear to be the case.

Strangely enough, we worked out a policy on this just last week. Psychout and I even managed to agree on it within 5 posts!

But yeah, names will be a on a first serve basis.
However if someone blatantly "steals" an entire character (name, bio, even a similar bio) that's a different matter and will be dealt with accordingly.

All my characters are G1 Autobots and I would be pissed if someone blantantly stole my character. Is there anything we could do to minimize the theft like create a topic and post our characters so no one gets confused? I do realize that my characters names are valuable in this game and I will have to fight for them or be really quick like last time. But this is one man speaking.

Aren't you already stealing characters then? They are of course Hasbro's originally.
This is what I found completely laughable post-reset, was people getting up in arms claiming canon characters were "theirs".
Well we won't have that problem when HMW2 rolls out because if you missed the memo, canon names will be locked out and unusable by players as they will be used in the HMW2 overall storyline.
And please don't create a thread saying "these are my names, please don't take them", unless you have a copyright on the name then it's fair game.
Like I said, names are open for all, stealing full characters however will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
For those who may not have read my earlier post, characters mean name & bio not just a name.

It just so happens that my characters happen to fall under
Burn wrote:And please don't create a thread saying "these are my names, please don't take them", unless you have a copyright on the name then it's fair game.
Does that mean I get to make a thread for it?

For the record, this is what has been currently decided upon and will most likely not change. (It may, but chances are it won't)
You'll get an official notice closer to HMW2's launch.
For those with canon characters, use the time to start coming up with your own characters and hope no one else has the same idea as you and gets the name first.

Frankly I dont have one iota of simpathy at all for you. Infact I would like to see *ALL* canon names banned outright.
Im sick and tired of doing my xp games and seeing (for instance) 3 Jazz charecters, only one of which actully has the right colour AND alt, and one of which isnt even a bot, and charecters like Bumblebee, who, aparently, is a yellow batmobile fighting for the cons...
ENOUGH!
Get an ounce of creativity already....

Does this mean *ALL* canon, throughout the shows, or just a core of G1 charecters?
And if it's discovered some of the slightly less core canon charecters are causing flashpoints, can you retrospectivly claim the name for the game?

There are no words that can truely show how much I am in agreement with FE rants.
HMW2 is a freash start, and a good time for people to get creative.
-- Come up with unique names and bios
-- Change up factions if you feel unhappy with what you have
-- And hopefully lose the "?????? Prime/Convoy/Magnus" affliction some bots have. These should be sings of greatness and leadership, instead (and sorry for repeating myself in the 'con fourm) we have 'bots carring around "Dull Matrixes" filled with the "Spark of Unimagination"
"Dull Matrix" and "Spark of Unimagination" Copyright & Trademarks of Aggression Incorporated.
HMW2. No. You can't Chan.

I would hope for all canon, not sure how OS is going to do it. Hopefully tie it into VSD somehow, that should prevent even the lesser known characters (go Stalker!) being used.
And if it doesnt, the name can just be claimed if it needs to be used for storyline purposes.
And no, you won't be reimbursed if we take your canon name away, cyber-squatting will be outlawed in HMW2. So says the Minister for Economics!
oooo I just gave myself a new title!

Linking it to VSD would be best, Im just wondering if VSD would be easily linkable (afterall, Im guessing it is one of the older aspects of this site, and as such, possibly not quite as up to scratch as HMW2 will be).

Because EVERYBODY should play just like you and Burn.

I know VSD is getting fixed, but yeah, i'm not sure how it will go interacting with HMW2.

And THIS is exactly why I didn't rant because I knew SOMEBODY would interpret it as me telling them how they should play the game.
Heaven forbid that Red, myself, and anyone else who may feel the same as us actually ENJOY seeing what people can come up with in terms of creativity.

Yours is a very selfish way of playing a game. And it also invites copy cat charecters. Does it not annoy you that none of your charecters are in the least bit unique in this game?
I mean, there isnt one of my charecters (that I know of) that has another charecter with even a vuage similarity to it's name. And I like that. It allows me to see them as my charecters.
You dont have any charecters. You just have a bunch of someone else's names. Poorly plagurised names at that. Your charecters are the chinese knockoffs of this game, and no amount of xp (impresive as your xp is) is ever gonna change that.
And before you say, 'oh you're just jelous becuase you dont have any' (like it's some kind of status symbol?), I had a couple of canon charecters for a while, but I got bored with them, came up with some interesting charecter ideas, and dumped em.

Blah, blah, blah. Do you not read anybody's bios?[url=http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/character.php?character_id=83203}Galvatron[/url]
That summarizes the backstory of the Autocons quite nicely.

It's great that you and others enjoy playing that way. However, there are others who don't. Why should we constantly have to listen to critiscism about something? Sheesh!

You don't, and just so we put an end to this ... *dons the crazyfists outfit*
Oh and again, just to reiterate, names will not be protected in the HMW2 restart, characters will be, and canon names will be off limits.

One last point to add to what Burn has (correctly) said above...
You will not be starting the new game with a full roster of 12 characters.
You will have some (current number being considered is 4) given to you at the start but after that they will have to be unlocked with Allspark keys, which will only be avalable as loot. As this will be the only way to increase your roster it will take time to build up a 'full' team and there will be competition for names, so it is for this reason we are not allowing names to be 'reserved'. If you do not have a character available for the name, you cant have it, it's that simple.
Bottom line: be prepared for the possibility of a 'name' you want to be unavailable.
Got a problem with that? You know where the PM button is.
