There will be more than missions and the arena in the new program.

The arena will only give you energon which means it will not help you progress your characters.

You will be able to stage new attacks or join existing campaigns on the Cybertron battle map for territories.
The territories your faction controls on the Cybertron Battle Map will determine which power-ups your faction can aquire (which will help you in map battles AND missions). It will also determine how much XP and Energon you earn in certain territories on Cybertron.
There will be a massive purpose to how well you play in the Cybertron War Room. If your faction plays poorly, you will loose the war for Cybertron.

There will be the new challenge arena where you can challenge other players (even within your own faction) and wager energon on the outcome. There will be awards given if you reach a large amount of challenge wins. Rivalries will certainly be formed here.

There will be a tournament engine where your team can win big power-up, XP and energon awards for winning bracket tournaments and alt hunts.

Figured i'd repeat this where it could be seen as I helped to kill the thread it was posted in...

Although I'm not a big fan of Risk and im a little concerned its complexity may be beyond the scope of the 'play on the sly whilst at work' type, it sounds like its going to be great.

Thanks for the work OS, Im really looking forward to July now!

It sounds like we can still "play on the sly" if we want OR get into to the complex stuff. I love the idea of all those options and winning power-ups based on occupied territory! OS said we can challenge others within our own faction, but wouldn't it be great if we could also arrange fights between members or our own teams too?

I'm onboard the excitement for V2 now too. Thanks and good luck, OS.

I like that battling in certain territories gives you bonuses for whatever reason the stories dictates.

Does this mean that the faction with the highest percentage of territory will be the faction that has overall control of Cybertron? Would that faction gain anything for this other than bragging rights?

I have to say this really sounds great. I know I've been tough on OS in the past but this kind of information is exactly what this community needs to prevent negative reactions and sour attitudes.

I think it would be great if someone on the team posted a weekly preview that highlighted a specific feature or system of the upcoming HMW version. Something that simple would do us a lot of good.

Wait a minute. Power ups? As in, we're putting fate to randomly power up certain members, an dthose of us who are unlucky to get stuck being pounded into pulp? Tournys onluy offer 1, maybe 2 or three winners. That's 2 or three people. M
(Pardon me for being blunt and cranky. Mayhaps I just need a better explanation.)

Oh, and what about infiltraitors?

Yes, I am interested in what "power-ups" means precisely. However, I can only say that this kind of tactical gameplay sounds like utter genius!!! I've not been playing as much of late, but I can see HMW getting even more addictive in the course of the next few months. And I will move heaven and earth to be near a functioning computer from the start... Roll on July.

Keep up the good work OS.

I'd imagine the territorial powerups would offer small perks that would take affect faction wide. Something like +5% damage bonus or a +2% chance to execute your tactic(s) or whatever.

I don't think anyone here has to worry about someone winning a +150% damage resistance or anything.

Hmmmm. I was thinking it would apply to the skills. Like, give the occupiers of that territory more strafes or something like that.

As for tourney reward power ups, I'd expect those to only last for a while, say a month or so. Otherwise Flashwave's scenario would definitely happen.

Woulnd't it last as long as that territory is occupied?

This sounds like it's going to need to be balanced carefully, or as soon as one side gets an advantage they'll get all the power-ups and become unbeatable, seriously ruining the fun for both sides.

I also worry that the game may be becoming to complex to play on the sly at work, as that is were the majority of my playing occurs. Simplicity isn't always a bad thing and complexity isn't always a good thing.

Good point. I wonder if OS cares to add anything here...

I think a lot of us do the majority of their playing at work.

I dont work with a computer so i do all my playing when i should be sleeping/doing anything else constructive. I am definitely liking the sound of this. I am also liking the fact that i can be a part of it from the ground up. It's fun playing now, dont get me wrong, but i can't wait till i'm not such an underdog ;)

Mannequins? Who's been watching too much "Doctor Who"? :-? Apart from me, obviously. By the way, I love this:

Pariah wrote:i do all my playing when i should be sleeping/doing anything else constructive

That's how I manage my huge bouts of play as well. And I love the fact that that sentence implies sleep is constructive! :D

I agree that the "territory" thing could get complicated, but look at it this way. You can either play massively in one zone, guarding it and digging in if you don't have time to re-assess what you're doing or, if you do have time, you can happily plan masterful strategies and wander across Cybertron. The system should have room for internet foot-soldiers as well as armchair generals.

Sleep is constructive! In a way....

And my mannequin (sorry for previous spelling lol) fear is a childhood thing thats been following me around for years. Not literally though, that would be terrifying.

:-P

Actually, the notion of being followed by a mannequin is quite frightening even if you're not already afraid of them.

I once had this terrifying fear of being followed by inanimate metallic objects that could turn into giant robots. Freaky. :P

I ABSOLUTELY hate the fact that I agree with him on this point, but it's true. So very true.

Although the new features sound stellar, I just hope it doesn't end up crashing the game again as has happened in the past when other "new and exciting" features were implemented.

Back to the topic, I personally like the idea a lot. It'd bring more fun than the addition of Gestalts and Triplechangers and such.

But, IF we'd receive Gestalts and Triplechangers and such AS WELL...

Our happiness would rize to uncontrollable levels, that's for sure! :D
