Mkall's back, here's what's happening

Ok folks, I'm sure most of you know me, but for those that don't here is everything about Mkall's past and future with HMW that you don't want to know, but will anyways.

HMW brought me to Seibertron.com, and for a while I was a decently active participant in it. It was a fun game with good people and some pretty fun Yahoo or MSN mass-chats; man I miss those.

I attempted to code v2 when one of the programmers had to leave. I failed at coding, but found it easy to work with the back-end database. The programmer came back, left again, and the Mogwai Prime showed up and things were looking up again.

Then he vanished. I don't know where, but I do hope he'll come back.

SO... I've been given permission to add a few things into the back-end database to help keep v1 alive until he shows up again, or v2 magically appears.

There will be new missions for the upper levels, and who knows what else is needed, but if I can do it, I shall. I will not be doing anything with the code however. Frankly I don't trust my abilities that much.

Please do not ask me to do things for you, I will say no. Instead ask the people with the purple names. They will deliberate whether it is in HMW's best interest and will come to me if they decide it is a good thing, I will add it.

Oh yeah, the beasts will be returning to the bot/con faction. This is undebatable, and the details are here.

Mkall wrote:If you are worried about your altmodes, I will port them over to the parent faction in the same rarity values. i.e. if it was rare as a Maximal, it will be rare as an Autobot. If there are alts which have rarities in beast and "parent" factions, the "parent" faction rarity wins.

Can we get a little clarification on this? Do we need to request certain alt modes we'd like to keep? Or will they all be ported over?

Raph: I'm pretty sure they're just combining the four alt lists from the Maximals + Autobots and Preds + Deceps into two big ones...

Sad to see the beast factions going. I haven't played nearly as much as I did a few years ago, and with this change I'm kinda glad I didn't. Ah well.

Bingo. It wasn't an easy choice to make, but in the end it's easier to have two factions with the playerbase we have than balance out.

Personally, I think this is great news; finally a chance to fix some of the damage to the game.

We had some great changes and variations to the game in the past, but now its time to get back to basics. Now we can have missions that go past L4, more alts for both factions and we wont have a group of you stranded in nomansland unable to join in the main game. Its a shame we are losing the beast factions, and maybe one day we will be able to integrate them properly, but currently that is beyond us.

Please be patient whilst this is being sorted and thanks for putting the time in to help us here Mkall.

Alright, thanks y'all. I was pretty sure that's what it meant, but i just wanted to double check cause i was misreading stuff already last night about the beast faction stuff(just an off night i guess).

However, this posses an interesting question. The Autobots by far outnumber the Cons, at last count, however, if you look at the top players, only 3 in the top 10 will be Autobots, and 7 of the top 20. So, should all of the top Preds just go with the cons, or should some go Bot to try to keep the top end better balanced?

Let's get the re-intergration done first and new missions second before we look at swapping people around.

But if some Preds want to go 'Bot, they have that option.

Thanks for stepping in again, Mkall! Seems yet another season has started in the ongoing HMW soap...
Anyhow, good luck with whatever you can do with the current code. Good to hear that the upper levels will get some more missions: "defending the refinary" has become a bit of a chore, to be honest :)

That was actually kind of my point, we have a unique ability. We can choose to balance the top end of the game, or we can choose to simply go for overwhelming power.

If you want to be the saviour of the Autobots, go ahead AZ, but we don't need a press release about it.

You know how this game works as well as I do; higher levels on one side means its easier for the other to level up and the game eventually balances itself, so join whichever team you want.

I do not want to be the savior. I just wanted to see if anyone else was going to switch over, outside of Snapcase.

Nice to hear some feedback on this. I have been wondering what was up with the latest promise. Thanks for the work guys. Glad to see we're not stuck in a rut.

Seriously, I would love to meet the witch doctor that cursed this game's development; he's doing a hell of a job!
