This thread is designed to answer all potential questions you may have about the upcoming new version. Please keep in mind that nothing is final and this may change without notice.

0. When will it be arriving?
Sadly, Omega Sentinel hasn't released a concrete release date, or even a general one, but there will be a good notice on when it will happen. The only things that remains to be worked on is the warmap and the pit, so we can't have much longer to wait.

1. Is it true that there will be a reset?
Yes there will be a reset.

2. What will be kept/lost during this reset?
You will keep all created characters, and those characters will keep their names and bios. They will lose all xp, weapons, armour, current altmode and as a player you will lose all energon, minicons and6 weapons in storage. You will start off with 2,500 energon. The option to change you allegiance should be available

2a. Is there any way I can convince you to let me keep an alt/weapon/xp etc?
Nope. If I start making exceptions for you, then I have to do it for others. I won't do that.

2b. Why do we need a reset?
A reset is needed not only to promote a fresh start for the game, but also because there are so many changes on the back end to weapons, armour, altmodes, tactics, character databases, etc that it becomes too difficult to transfer all of the existing data over to the new version. So a wipe and reload is easier.

3. What new features will be available?
Not everything is known at this time and will be made available as it comes out. However this much is known:
--A Risk-style type of missions where the Autobots battle the Decepticons for control of Cybertron. There will be region-based bonuses to the controlling factions.
--The Pit: where players place their prized troops to be challenged by other players' troops. Here bets can be made on the outcome.
--Balanced weapons, many weapons will have secondary effects
--New tactics to further emphasize the uniqueness of the different altmode classes. There will be at least three per class.
--Headmasters and Targetmasters will make their appearance.
--A "report this account" button will allow users to report offensive accounts quickly.
--Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons, and Minicons will partake in the conquest for Cybertron

4. Will your levels be determined by how many upgrades you have or by your total experience?
Levels will still be based on total upgrades

5. Will there be Gestalts/Triplechangers/Pretenders/Micromasters/Powerlinking?
Not yet, however things will be added as the game continues to grow. Features will be added based on popularity, except for Gestalts which will most likely be the last feature the game ever sees

6. What role will the Quintessons play?
The quintessons will not be a playable faction. As for their role, it will definitely impact the Battle for Cybertron.

7. What will the Map for Cybertron look like?
See for yourself:
http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/WarMap.php

8. What new tactics will be available?
***NOTE: These are only the tactics available to the players***
• Avoid - A purely defensive move. This tactic begins when you dodge an attack and allows you to move out of range of the enemy for a time.
• Slash - Slash at a target
• Stealth - Hide from strafing aircraft
• Repair - Repairs your teammates
• Absorb - Absorb some of the damage from hits with your alt mode
• Catch - Catch an avoiding target
• Bite - Bite your target causing large damage
• Multi-Repair – Repairs multiple friendly targets at once
• Ram - A ramming attack on one target. This tactic sometime stuns the target to prevent them from executing another attack.
• Fireblast - Fire your turrets. Can hit multiple targets
• Charge - Charge into a group of opponents. Hits multiple targets. Only hits ground targets
• Anti-Aircraft - Ground units hit air units. Can hit multiple targets
• Strafe - A continuous attack on one or more targets. This tactic always hits at least one opponent, and has a possibility of hitting more. Only targets ground units
• Drop - Carry a target into the air and drop it
• Dogfight - Hit other aircraft alts by fighting them in the sky. Hits multiple air alts
• Headmaster Attack - When you are in alt mode your partner can Transform and attack an opponent.
• Targetmaster Attack - Whenever you attack with a punch or kick your Nebulon gun partner is free to transform and attack an opponent.

9. Will the Maximals/Predacons have their own forums?
Of course they will, if official alliances are made, then there may even be temporary neutral-zone forums for the allied factions to commune with. Though once the treaty is broken, these forums go bye bye.

10. Can I see what altmodes/tactics I'll be getting?
Yes, click here: http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16091

11. What role will the 4 factions play story-wise?
Maximals -
They have been in charge for thousands of years only to see order disintegrate before their eyes. The High Council's diplomatic ways of handling conflicts are no longer keeping the peace and now they have to organize themselves as a military power on Cybertron in order to survive.
-----The years in power have taught the Maximals that the best way to maintain order on Cybertron is through well-documented procedures and manuals for handling anything. They view the coming storm of the Decepticons as nothing more than a Real Time Strategy game, with set objectives and specific ways to get there. The return of the Autobots en masse worries many Maximals due to their slightly more chaotic look at war and many Maximals would silence the Autobots if they could in order to make sure that no chaotic elements are thrown into the war.

Predacons -
Only a small political lobby on Cybertron for the better part of a thousand years, the Predacons have waited for the time when they can overthrow the Maximal High Council and take over Cybertron. The recent activities of the Decepticons have opened up the opportunities they have been waiting for.
-----What started as a small dissenting voice on the maximal Council of Cybertron slowly grew into the Predacon faction. They are still a small voice on the council but are massing an army on the sly. They see the Decepticons not as allies, but as a threat to their plans. The Decepticons wanton destruction means that when the Predacons take over, there will be nothing to rule. The predacons view Warfare as a precision instrument that kills the enemy, but leaves the surrounding area, and most innocents, standing.

Decepticons -
Since the dawn of the second Golden Age of Cybertron, the Decepticons have been reduced to nothing more than criminal activities. They are mainly viewed as a criminal organization on Cybertron but in truth they still have as much military strength as the Maximals. Being influenced by unknown outside forces, the Decepticons have come out of the shadows and are attempting to re-establish the Empire.
-----The Decepticons have returned to a Cybertron fully rebuilt and run by a government reminiscent of the Autobot Council that, inadvertently, started the First Great War billions of years ago. The Decepticons, living up to Megatron's vision, are out to destroy every thing and every one until they control Cybertron, what's left of it. They view the Maximals as the autobot council of old, and the predacons as spineless; not willing to take the steps needed for victory. The Autobots are of course their most hated foes.

Autobots -
For millions of years the Transformers true to the ancient Autobot faction have been well known throughout the stars. They have travelled far as explorers, protectors and peacemakers. Since hearing of all the brewing conflict on Cybertron, The Autobots spread throughout the galaxy along with the few still on Cybertron have been rallied by an ancient leader to defend the homeworld from impending doom.
-----Soldiers from all over the universe don't care for councils, or rules or subsection 43-2-beta of the iacon precidence document, or whatever you call it. They are used to following the bot right above them in rank and all Autobots answer to one Autobot: Prime. They came back to Cybertron to fight their ancient enemies the Decepticons, who have made their return by unknown means. Many don't care for either the Maximals or The Predacon forces. To some warriors they are the same force. However if they interfere in the Autobots' mission to stop the Decepticons, many autobots will shoot first and ask questions later.

12a. What the heck is the Energon Bank of Cybertron?
Most of what you pay out (except gambling games) will go into the bank of cybertron under your faction's economy. Weapons, Armor, Territory fortifications such as turrets and shields will all feed into your faction's economy and the EBC will be selling you all of your goodies after the launch of HMW2.

BUT there is a catch. Each of your factions will have a seperate economy in the EBC. If your faction flounders it will have financial difficulty. This means it will be more difficult for your faction to get money for the war to pay for things like fortifications (and eventually ships in your starfleets)

12b. So will the lager factions have a better economy?
I'm not entirely sure on this one, however I would suspect that the smaller factions may have a better time working within their economy. The Larger factions may try to spend too much too quickly.

13. What is the Energon Bank of Cybertron?
The EBC is used primarily on the warmap. The faction leader will be able to use money stored there to buy various features for territory that the faction holds, such as turrets and forcefields. How money is put in the EBC or how the EBC relates to individual players is yet unknown.

14. Do I have to take part is what my faction is doing? I can't keep track of it all/
You don't have to. The Mission, Asrena and The Pit are all there for you to play regardless of what is going on in the warmap. You may also play on the Warmap without worrying about coordinating with other players. However don't expect to have much of an impact without the rest of the army.

in The Pit will be able to fight players from our own faction? or just from the opposite team?

Secondly, is there some failsafe idea that prevents one team being completely wiped off the face of cybertron?

What if we have characters we don't wish to keep? I have a couple of Autobots I would not mind deleting.

Will all ALt modes be available after the reset? And if so, Will they include newly retired ones?

You could always reset them into new mechs. This new version should hopefully have a bunch of new stuff to play with.

Alt modes will still go through the rotator as they have been.

Will there be a way to directly report a offensive bio instead of having to pm a Mod/Admin or have someone start a witch hunt thread on the forums?

Yes. There will be a "report this account" button that will automatically send us mods an alert. Abuse of the button will lead to disciplinary action of the button pusher.

In the past I heard mention of a "tournament generator". Is this still part of the big picture? I am keen to see more tournaments.

Yes, but probably not with the initial launch. 4 weeks is not going to be enough time to do it properly on top of everything else.

Question:

Are "automated battle turrets" still under consideration, or was that deemed too controversial?

What about other "hazards" like minefields or "death traps?"

Too controversial. The community seemed split on these things so I'm leaving them out of the initial release.

I've been curious about the alt mode pics.
Will they be the cool single dimension gifs or will you
try to snazz them up with real pics of potential alt modes?
I personally like the cheezy pics the way they are.

Nice I like it that we can keep the names and bios, However its taken me about a year to get to lvl 1 and now i'll have to start over again.
+
After I read what you said I thought, won't people (who send their troops into battle) go around madly not caring what the others stats are now they know that whatever they gain is pointless!
I can just imagine it now,

Prime and the other remaining autobots are standing on a ruined platform on some god forsaken tower looking out onto Cybertron, The place is Hell. It's discription has gone past wasteland its now a burning smoking ruble pile they call home. Far below the Decepticons are killing everything in sight, including each other. Megatron has been incinerated and starscream was the Decepticons last hope, But he vanished. now they are lost, deserted, confused and scared.
Prime turns to Hot Rod and says,
"Freedom was the right of all sentinal beings!"

See what i mean!!

I know this has been touched upon already but I would like to bring it up again and that is the deleting of unwanted character "slots" (for lack of a better term). I would much rather go into v2.0 with less mechs then the twelve I have now. I'm not saying delete everything or anything crazy like that but I think it would be nice to slim down your ranks if you want to.

Thanks you and have a nice day.

me like 12 bots

Me too! Also I was wondering if in V2, you would be able to have more character slots to make new mechs and if it would be possible to have more than six operational at once?

I'm not saying to trim down everyone’s bots/cons. I'm saying each person should have a choice of deleted some unwanted "slots" if they choose to. Hell with all the choices being given I can't imagine this one would be very difficult to implement.

:-?

I agree, the delete character button idea would be a nice feature to have in V2.0

... I mean, sometimes ya make a toon play them a few times... then hate them later. Happens. lol

Exactly the same here I want more cause then I can fill up my team with characters from the Infiltration comic series AND give my team some more ground troops cause I have,
4/5 jets,
1 space shuttle,
4 cars,
2 tanks(1/jet),
1 animal.
wait that means I need more airbourne units

that remindes me in V.2 Will there be some triple changers cause when i first joined i read some where that
"If you're lucky you might even get/win a triple changer" ?

LordStarscreamsGhost wrote:Will any alt modes be left by the wayside and/or replaced during the transfer to the new version?

As of right now, no. However I personally wouldn't mind switching some of the alts for newer versions.

Image with Image for example.

Steel Starscream wrote:Nice I like it that we can keep the names and bios, However its taken me about a year to get to lvl 1 and now i'll have to start over again.

I know how you feel, It's tken me almost 3.5 years to get to level 6. However with the 3 tactics per alt method, levelling up should be a lot easier now.

Galvatron Prime wrote:I know this has been touched upon already but I would like to bring it up again and that is the deleting of unwanted character "slots" (for lack of a better term). That's another debated issue at the moment. However with all the new options/weapons/tactic combinations that are coming down the pipeline, you may find having 12 mechs to experiment with could be a welcome thing.

Optimus Frimal wrote:Also I was wondering if in V2, you would be able to have more character slots to make new mechs and if it would be possible to have more than six operational at once?

I'd like to too, but I don't think we'll see them right at release time, maybe a few months in once all other things get hammered out. However the number of active bots should always be half of the maximum possible, so if there 20 mechs, there will be 10 active, 24 & 12 etc.

Steel Starscream wrote:that remindes me in V.2 Will there be some triple changers cause when i first joined i read some where that
"If you're lucky you might even get/win a triple changer" ?

Hmmm, I'll have to ask OS on that one. With all the new ground/sea/air based tactics multichangers could be quite handy at times. I'll get back to you on this one.

I hope that answers those questions. By the way LordStarscreamsGhost, your sig is too big, please check out the sig rules thread in this forum. Thanks

Will your levels be determined by how many upgrades you have or by your total experience?

Shin-Reaper wrote:Will your levels be determined by how many upgrades you have or by your total experience?

Levels will still be based on # of upgrades
