Mkall and I were chatting in the V2 disscussion thread and he got asked the question,
So the players who have been playing for a long time wont get anything but those who have only been playing for a short time will get a kind of bonus.
He replied with,
Nope that wont happen.
( these posts have been abreviated)
So I said
so what is going to happen to the Veterans will they get some kinda extra XP
(well sorta)
then he said,
no but it needs disscussion, which needs a new thread.
SO vwolla a new thread for thinking up new Ideas to reward veteran players without giving them extra XP or energon (that would be unfair)
So it's open for you guys to give your thoughts...

A mark. Something that shows on their post's stat and or battle logs. (Thingy at top with quote/faction symbol etc.)

Cleaver Idea something like the real veteran military sign above their teams name or something like that.
If someone dosn't know what im talking about the military sign is this,
^ for private and
^
^
^ for sargent

I recall before Glyph left he had soem sort of new ranking system inthe works. Perhaps the veterans could be "ranked ahead" of the newer players?

ive said it before in a different thread, but maybe different coloured text for commander names and for any names taken from v.1 characters. If you change names, you lose the colour.....
*pictures 4 years into the future, a HMW n00b at his computer*
"dum dee dum dee dum, i'll just pop my bots into this 1- 10 mission.... Ooooh, i wonder why Gore is in a different colour?......"

Well I'm guessing a copy of the old High Score table say backed up just before the reset wouldn't go amiss.

Other than recycling the same old altmode suggestions (TIE Fighter vs. Lego Tank vs. Pterodactyl etc.) im not sure where else this conversation can really go.
...Other than towards Pariahs idea which makes an alarming amount of sense for him.

The only think I can think of is that anyone who logged in before V2 gets to choose from the entire alt list, which I'm sure is an old idea.

I kinda like this idea. What I'm curious about though is who would count as a 'veteran'? People who have a char, or more than one char, with 1 million xp or more, or ranked in the top 100? People with a team in the overall top 50/100/1000? People who started playing before a certain date, or before v2 launches?
Personally, I'd prolly prefer it if it were based on xp/rank in some fashion, rather than just some arbitrary date. That way, 'veteranship' will be granted on at least some sort of merit, rather than, say, someone who joined early and played for two months then never played again getting it. "Veteran" implies someone with a long time's worth of experience, after all.
Anyway, just my two cents.

What exactly constitutes a veteran in this game though?

- Based on the top 100 or 1000 commanders.
- Hall of fame.
- A ribbon.
- 2 special alts per commander, always avaible. (i think this is a lot of work).
Does anyone wonder about those old players who never post?

I thourougly disagree on using an xp level. Not everybody who's been playing for a while has tones of xp is able to get the troops into more than one or two missions a day. Also "veteran" does not imply someone with experiance. My sister spent less than two years total in the army and had to be honorably discharged do to a torn knee; she is legaly considered a veteran.
That said we can't simply go and make every account registered before the onset of v2 a game vet either. What I would like to see is perhaps something along the line of those who have been members for at least six months or a year
and have been reasonably active in that time made veterans. this would be much fairer to those who have not had much time to play

that would reduce the number of veterans to less than 50

Point. Maybe a combo of time, activity and exp per character or team's average exp (that way people without a full team aren't disadvantaged) or rank. Or something.
How do we define "reasonably active" though? Not everyone who plays regularly posts on the forums - me included, heh. We could go by team records, but those go back only so far. Hmm. I dunno, heh.

I say you should get a bonus if you've been a player since... oh I don't know... 16th April 2007 maybe?

well we are all going to start with as many bots as we currently have, whereas any newbs will have to build up the number of team members.

is there really a need for "recognition"
i don't remember it ever being an issue till some at the time noob brought it up a year or 2 ago.

good idea

I agree that veterans should receive some kind of recognition. Like Jar Axel and Skits say it probably needs to be worked out on the basis of combo of time, activity and exp.
In terms of award how about a receiving a bonus of something like 1% of energon acrued in V1 at the point of reset?

lol cheers
And as for the different shades of veteran, the colour coding could be different for different xp brackets. EG 1-500.000 xp get
red, 500,001-1,000,000,000 xp get
green..... etc etc etc.
Of course, there are only so many colours that can be used reasonably against the background of the HMW site proper. Just a thought

Quote time,
yeh but that would be really hard and quite unfair,
ANYWaYS one of the admins or mods is adding TONS and I mean TONS of new alts into HMW2 anyway!
