Just incase anyone doesn't know HMW gets taken down during botcon to alleviate pressure on the servers

This has been a public service announcement

hopefully people won't get confused or ask why's the game down now

and P.S. minicons are a lie

When botcon then?

well its been taken down during the last botcon, and its was mentioned about its cuz more people are on the server, and i doubt there will be a change this year. but hey, maybe I'm totally wrong and HMW will be up and running to make me look like a jackass (not that I need the help):P

botcon is in about 48 hours from this post, and lasts 3-4 days

i figured if i talk about it now, there will be less confusion later

*shrug*

Its possible I guess, and its not like they'd tell us is it? IIRC though, HMW fell over during nerdcon last year because the admin all went away, meaning Sods Law kicked in and so The Game (which you just lost) crashed at the first possible opportunity.

Im sure some sunshine would actually do some of you guys good though, you are all looking rather pale...

Psssh, sunshine be damned! WFC just game out, so I've got a fallback in case HMW goes down!

But somehow I doubt Ryan would shut HMW down without us knowing. But then again, I don't remember OS telling us anything to that effect last year either...

I hate you. I was winning for like 3 months, and now I just lost...@#$%

Nooo not the sun! We'll lose most of our players in a puff of smoke.

Sorry but what a crock.

Honestly, It is bad enough that not all of us have the ability and means to attend, but this just cuts into the enjoyment that we could get while Botcon goes on.

While I understand that Botcon information and reports do increase traffic, That is the time to advertise the benefits of the site (including HMW) to people looking for news that might not usually visit here.

I hope Ryan is not considering this, because it's a slap in the face of the players who can't attend, and every time someone logs in regardless of what else is happening and can't access the game, that's a possible lost player. And every lost player is a possible lost site regular.

Yeah see, this is why pseudo-modding is bad.

If it happens it happens.

It would just make sense to me that if you are about to hit a week-end where your site traffic is about to increase majorly. That it is the perfect time to sell everything about the site that makes it good and especially different from others to snag new regulars.

Present all the news and pictures coming in, but when else would be better to increase people's awareness of HMW, not to mention the RPG, Carbombya, Transtopia, and the Picture Galleries.

You build with your strengths, and showcase your assets, not hide them when company comes over.

Regardless, N_V jumped the gun on this and at this particular point in time, until we hear otherwise, THERE ARE NO PLANS TO TAKE HMW DOWN DURING BOTCON.

And if people are wondering, yes, i've shot Ryan an e-mail to see what's happening.

But let's leave the scare mongering to the Mods. It's what we do best. 8)

There.

So shut up.

The *only* good thing about Botcon is the inevitable Getter baiting 3 years later once both Hasbro AND Takara have reproduced virtually identical versions of 'exclusive' toys... lmao.

But that would mean I would need to upgrade from this wonderful Apple II plus.

At your age if you're still dealing with floppies on a regular basis, you might want to see a doctor.

Have soldering gun, will travel.

Adding the port for a graphics card was the worst part.

At least you don't have to worry about transferring files via serial or parallel cables anymore!
