Deleting characters: a V2 suggestion

I was reading in the FAQ some wanted a delete character option for V2.
A way this could be made more fun than just choosing to delete a character from your registry is being able to select a 'fight to the death' option for the bot. You would enter the bot in missions as normal but if it is defeated it is gone forever. The killing bot would get a huge bonus payout and if you survive the fight whilst having the option active you would get a bonus yourself as an effort to dissuade you from killing them off.
Thoughts?

I still don't understand why someone would want to delete a character when they can just reset/rename it, but I do see some merit to this idea.

If a player was really ballsy, they could take the risk to get more xp as part of their actual gameplay strategy. BUT, the risk here far outweighs the gain.

Even the best players here routinely get some of their bots stasis-locked. Your chances with this gamble would be too small and your losses too great to do more than once or twice.

I could see a couple of people successfully using it in Arena battles, but mostly I'd expect to see lots of threads titled "HELP I LOST MY BOT IN A DEATHMATCH!!!!! HOW DO I GET HIM BACK?!!!!!"

Nor do I but there are obviously those that do going by the weekly 'How do I delete my character?' threads. It's just something that would make deleting a character more interesting for you and your opponents if you're going to get rid of them anyway.

Some of us have just too many bots. Starting fresh with unwanted characters would give me a headache.

I have 7 bots right now. I have reset all the ones I wanted to keep but I still have 1 I do not want. All he is doing is taking up space. I could reset hiim but then his replacement would be named something stupid like "Unwanted."

I'd be happy with my main 6 guys.

QFT!

I have the exact same thing going on with my team. I have the full 12, but three unwanted TFs; one is currently an experiment while the other two are sitting there named something like "JustABlankSlotKthx".

For V2 I'd really like to clear out the unwanted slots and just start things fresh with my nine-strong team, instead of having them gather dust and drag my team averages down... But as Mkall said in the FAQ, it may just come down to PMing the Powers that Be and have them do it when V2 gets a little closer.

An actual in-game option (with plenty of warning, like you get when you're about to reset a character) of some sort would be nice, though, just so OS and crew don't get pelted with "ZOMG DUHLEET MY CHAR PLEEZ" PM's all the time... :-?

You people do realize that you will more than likely need all 12 of your character slot filled and active for V2?

V2 is more faction based and does not focus on individual characters as much as V1.X does. Your Faction is going to need all 12 of your bots.

It is not that hard to run 12.

But not everyone wants 12. they should ahve some option if they want to drop someone. i wouldn't like a fight To The Death option but there should be something available.

Like a Spark bank you put your unwanted characters into it for a small energon price and pull the character out when and if you need them :-?

Here's a suggestion: Arena Only Level 0 Energon Provider.

It's really simple. Purchase an X-Ray Laser, and strap it to your Arena Only Level 0 Energon Provider. Throw your Arena Only Level 0 Energon Provider into the Arena Only. Watch as your Arena Only Level 0 Energon Provider cleans up and get you madd Energon without costing you anything in the CR Chamber. Remember to maintain your Arena Only Level 0 Energon Provider with it's Level 0 status by not exceeding the maximum number of Tech Specs for a Level 0.

Problem solved. Next question.

Word.

I see merit in it for those who have maxed out their character. then it could become like a beat the end boss type match.

Let me put this differently then:

Stop thinking of yourself and think of your Faction.

This is the part I don't understand. How can you not do better with more bots when you exercise proper managment? My team for example generaly runs in a six in six out string rotation. They don't do any sitting around when I'm online and paying attention.

the last time a bot got deleted didnt it screw up the game? anyway the original suggestion is really open to abuse, if two player on opposite sides keep creating bots to die and feed the other side with bonuses

I have an idea. If there would be an option to "work in the mines" for the long-not playing players' robots, and so gain advantages for their sides. Also, the players who don't like their bots, could send them to the mines.

i don't care about deleting them, i would just like to use several in a tag team mission, and maybe more than 6 at a time? :-?

About deletion: It's toooooooo open to abuse. At this point, if some of your "friends" get your password, they can write some bad-languaged comments, no more, not a big problem; but if they get your password and can delete your transformers -> BIG problems.

Not if you do it in the run up to the end of V1.

I've got 11 bots, but my acces time means that once my guys have done a mission, they're all healed up by the time that I can send them in again. On that basis, a couple of my bots are basically a waste of space. I could argue that they seve no purpose, so I'd like to delete them and unclutter my scren.

Now, in reality, I was to keep them, partly for character, and also the rare occasions I can send in some extra guys, but if the option existed, I'd happily risk two of my three Arena Only Level 0 Energon Providers in a to-the-death pit fight if the reward was particularly high.

I have an idea. If there would be an option to "work in the mines" for the long-not playing players' robots, and so gain advantages for their sides. Also, the players who don't like their bots, could send them to the mines.

As awesome as that sounds, isn't that effetively what the arena's there for? That's the "commercial income" of the bots in the war.

Let me put this differently then:

Stop thinking of yourself and think of your Faction.

If people have a number of bots Idle (i.e., not in CR, not in missions, and not in arena), then those bots aren't helping the faction.

If those bots are risked in a to-the-death compeition and win high rewards, those rewards can be spent on the 6 characters who do not live idle and increase teir chance of success, thus helping the faction.

My biggest concern, if it hasn't already been suggested, is someone getting access to someone else's account & deliberately deleteing their characters.

Unlikely, but it poses a serious issue if it was ever to happen. maybe a FORMAL stickied thread for people to request such things or some other official channels to make sure it is not abused?
