Firefox Addon

While this is not a promise to have this developed any time soon I was thinking of creating a firefox script to create logs for performance on how your bots/cons do.

This would be a firefox plugin. I could write it in Greasemonkey, but I figured I might as well collect data from everyone if they would want it. Primarily I was writing it to just collect damage done and damage take as well as XP and drop it into an excel spreadsheet, but if I am going to do this might as well do this right.

I will give this thread two weeks. In this time I will collect all of the information. Top browser will get me to develop for it (Chrome / Firefox only). Also a list of features can be listed. I will choose the ones that seem the easiest and create the plugin. Of course I will also release the source code so you don't think I am up to anything shady. However this won't be an overnight project (I am working, going to school, and volunteer my time to local youth groups/homeless shelters on the weekends). This will probably not be finished for a few months, but would be HMW first real web plugin.

Anyone down for this?

Sounds interesting enough. Yes.

This project has been put on hold temporarily for now. I am having issues with things such as write rights on Macs and tabs opening and closing correctly on firefox. Once I know why I will start this up again. I have a feeling that it has something to do with differences between the beta and the release, but I haven't put enough effort into looking at it yet.

I like the idea, just be careful. One of the previous programmers got Perma-Banned because he wrote and published an addon for Firefox that fixed a lot of the formatting problems with HMW...In fairness, this was more a petty act by the powers that be than because of any actual violation of the rules, but I thought it fair to warn you.

That said, I love the idea, if you can get it working for Chrome, I'd be all for it.

Wait... What??? Why would the programmer be banned for fixing formatting problems? I just wanted to do something to log history (fights /stats /etc) and then do a minor calculation to let me know how my efficiency is doing.

I appreciate the heads up but I honestly think I have gotten enough warnings that I should just pretty much stick to copy and paste and excel. I don't really feel like dealing with my every day life and this has provided me with a nice distraction. Really would hate to screw that up too if you know what I mean.

There is more to the story, Red just likes to gloss over things to make it sound scary.

Nothing will happen to you if you develop this.

He was already the former programmer before this happened, and I did mention it was an act of pettiness by the powers than be than an out and out violation of the rules.

I'm just saying, doing this could result in punishment, or promotion to the ranks of game programmer, and I'm honestly not sure which is worse! :P

He's been pre-warned about what may happen if he was to take on the role of programmer.

Hopefully he's taken that advice and updated his will.

You can never be warned enough. *Everybody* says 'oh no, I'll be different', and everybody who's done it is never heard of again... and either hated by the entire community, or hated by the powers that be...

I'm sure Ryan hates him for disappearing without a trace.

Seriously, why do you come to this site if you hate the site owner so much?

Honestly Red, I don't have a problem with you but the constant sniping at Ryan has gotten old.

I had asked him privately about what this was, since I don't know much about programing really I wanted to make sure it wasn't automating too many things. Which is probably why he feels he's got a lot of warnings.

So you're intimidating people via pm now?

No fun ... you know initimidations should be public!

Eh? Hay what who? lol

I have the subtly of a brick, you all know that. Anything I have to say I say loudly and in public.

I just feel that HMW (the reason I came to this site) has been handled *really* badly (by various people), and its no secret Ryan doesn't much like the game.

HMW is still pretty much the only reason I come here (notice that I still play very regularly, although a recent project of mine has meant I don't spend as much time as I used to).

Every so often I come back to the HMW board because the crack is still all right on here, I assumed you realised I was joking around...
