I still appreciate the effort that you've put into this, but just cos a bunch of whiners sends a PM they get their xp back? I can understand how you feel that you need to reimburse losses but this really isn't the way to do it. what about all those that don't visit the forums, the people that didn't keep a record? And can we really rely on honesty??

i thought xp was given to everyone... i didn't PM, but i go xp.

i thought it was only for the level 0 through 6....which sucks as it doesn't seem to be an exponetially increasing award and is based on the levels 2 months back meaning only the level 5s i had then have their XP, and rest got screwed,(though one of mine was screwed becuase he was level 5 when the low level xp was handed out, and reset to level 0 when the mid level xp was handed out...

anyway we could rely on honesty, becuase anyone claiming significantly more than before would be found out as the sudden appearance of a new level 10 from nowhere would definetly be noticed and publically decried, witch-hunted and branded a cheater for the rest of their HMW days.

and OS would strip their XP pretty quickly too, just like he did to those he lied about their prize alts.

obviosly major xp gains are noticed, but few mils for the likes of my guys are hardly notable, just like 10k for a lv5...its all about lying sensibly

I recorded my xp on Sunday. I could even send OS my entire spreadsheet dating back to the start of the year and then my previous spreadsheet dating back a year and a half.

But why should I? Just because I make the extra effort to track my xp doesn't mean I should be restored. It's fair to me but not anyone else.

Things **** up. Happens on a regular basis. You deal with it and move on. But I really hope that xp wasn't applied up to level 6 only as again, that's only being fair to a portion of the playing community while everyone as a whole suffered (though I checked my bots yesterday and today and there seems to be a substantial difference so i'm guessing it was applied to all)

If xp was given out to everyone then I must've been left out because I've still got the same amount that I had before I logged off yesterday afternoon, well below the 4 million xp total for my whole team that I had on Monday.....

Unless i missed something... an Xp bonus was only given to levels 4, 5, & 6

0-3 got bonuses before the crash, but not after (at least no more than anyone else)

Like I said...could be wrong on that one.

Thats a great idea! I think I'm going to imitate that so I can be much more accurate next time something like this happens. I would probably just print out recent copies of each character. Besides, w/ the reset I'm not going to feel guilty if I asked for more xp than what I really had (I don't believe I did that though since I'm not one to take advantage).

EDIT: Oops! I think I did ask for too much back because I only had two level 3s. Now I've got 5! A well, if it's taken away then its taken away.

are we sure OS is actually doing this? I PMed him a spreadsheet of my team, BUT only his bonuses to levels 4/5/6 have been given, 9 of my TFs are down XP(8 by about 100K, 1 by 400K) the others have too much.

EXACTLY AS IF THE SPREADSHEET WAS NOT EVEN LOOKED AT.

maybe he hasn't gotten to yo yet...he did say there over 100 PMs. looking at the rankings, I can see there are a few who has received reimbursement.

I know that everyone has worked really hard to get their characters to the xp level that they are currently at, and that losing xp due to an error is bad, but I'd like to point out that in a relatively short amount of time we'll all be getting a full reset.

Agreed.
I sent him a PM early in this whole process and he only got around to fixing me around 11PM EST last night.

I started off saying this but by the end of yesterday i caved in and just sent him details.

I do agree that the solution to this should be system wide not just those who PM'd, but it may already be too late, those who have been restored would just gain again from a mass boost to everyone.

Unless OS strips away everything he's already done and starts over...
Of course that's helluva more work for him.

even though I already have my Xp back (with one exception) I'd give it all up if a universal solution was found.

I'd never thought I'd hear myself say this one:

It's a free game and OS his doing this out of the goodness of his heart!

Also remember while you lost some XP that can easily be regained, others lost entire characters.

No, it's because Omega Sentinel very clearly offered to restore XP if we sent him a PM with the approximate amounts that we had already.

what about all those that don't visit the forums

I suspect if someone logs on to find out they've lost piles of XP, they'll check the forums to find out what's happened. It's not really rocket science.

the people that didn't keep a record?

Most people should have at lesat a vague idea of where they are. Why shouldn't I be able to have my bots restored, just because someone else couldn't be bothered to keep at least a vague track of things? I've put in a pile of work to determine which upgrades to take next, and that work also happens to serve as a record of where they were before.

If OS offers to restore XP, why shouldn't I be able to take him up on the offer when I've got my bots' XP recorded to the single numeral?

And can we really rely on honesty??

I think this is the only valid point here, and it is a good one. However, we already rely on honesty in terms of not operating duplicate accounts, and not having multiple people running one account...

As has already been mentioned, if we start seeing new level 10s running around, it will raise questions, so there's going to be at least a certain level of self-policing going on.

What OTAGO means is that everyone should be sorted out at the same time, not on an individual basis, which i totally agree with.

I admit that I sent my sheet to OS too, but i still belivee that a better solution would have been to advance everyone's XP by the same degree depending on level.

I agree with what you're saying, but...

It's very arbitrary, as we're talking 4 months of data, during which any number of increases or decreases in success rate & XP gain could have occurred. Therefore, restoring people based upon a percentage of their current standings would be very unfair.

Further, I certainly don't get the impression that that's what OTAGO is saying; he seems more hacked off that some people are getting their XP restored by OS while some people are not.

And maybe it will take much longer to complete HMW II?? I will believe in HMW II when i see it. Thereare way to much things that can go wrong in the meanwhile... looking at the greatest woops yet....

A couple of you have short memories of when this game was down for months at a time with no compensation.
Or how about 3 years ago when everything was reset and you got NOTHING.

I've done everything I can to correct this problem. Exponentially moreso than what had been done with glitches in the past. If you aren't happy with it then I hope you can work through the massive emotional scarring this must have caused. 8-|
