hi, basically HMW is a server controlled, texted based D&D dice rolling fight between the forces for good the autobots :BOT: and the forces of evil :CON: there is no fancy flash element no controllable character ( unless you download the upgrade pack ;) ) all you can do is win fights earn XP use said XP to increase a stat and hopefully that stat will sway the next fight so you can earn even more

also it contains nuts

So... like... how do I play? What are the objectives? What's the setting? Does the Matrix of Leadership contain the Wisdom of the Ages, the Spark of Optimus Prime, Shia's mojo, or none/all of the above?

Mostly Shia's 'mojo'...

Anyhow... About playing the game.
RUN
10 Create a team with a team name.
Your team must contain at least 1 character, and can contain at most 12 characters. Secondly, for each character you create, you can assign him an alt mode, which gives you several different additional possibilities in fights. If you don't like what you see, you can always reset your character again.
20 All your characters start of with exactly 0 experience points (xp). They will need to earn xp by being activated from your registery page. You can activate at most 6 characters at a time.
30 Now you can make your characters join missions or throw them into the arena (see sidebar). Any mission can only contain one character of your team. The Arena is one-on-one fighting. By the way, Arena is currently faulty, so joining it is not forbidden, but discouraged (you can't see the results of the fight).
40 The mission (or Arena fight) is fought, without you being able to influence it in a way! Sounds fun, doesn't it?
50 After the timer has run down, the mission is done, and your character has either won or lost. If you lost, this usually means you got stasis locked, and you need to put your character into the CR chamber. At level 0 (where you start), this will cost nothing. If you won, you will probably be alive, but you might have gotten damage, so you might still need to go into the CR-chamber.
60 Results A! Every hit against an opponent gains you experience points, and winning a mission gains you a flat win bonus. XP is the most important part of the game. XP is the currency you need to upgrade your character with any of several available stats. Upgrading is done through the character page of each character.
70 Results B! With every hit on an opponent and with every win, you will also gain some Energon. This is the currency you can use to buy armor for your character, or buy him a weapon.
80 After a mission or Arena fight has finished, your character is automatically deactivated. This also means you have a new slot available to activate another character (or in fact the same character if he's fit enough).
90 GOTO 30!

And as for the objectives of the game:
1. Be as good as you can be! Upgrade your characters, become stronger and more agile! The beter stats you have, the less dependent you will be on the RNG and luck. Overtake other players! Which automatically leads to the second objective:
2. Join in on the HMW forum! Brag, complain, ask advice, give advice, be snarky, post drunk posts and generally interact with the other players of the HMW. To be honest, this is probably the most rewarding part of HMW!
2b. Make Burn's life as difficult as possible. Who is Burn, you ask? Don't worry, you'll find out...

The only important bit is joining the Decepticons so we can finally go back to our rightful place as conquerors of the universe in peace and quiet.

edit: Also gotta admit, after performing the obligatory background check, I totally agree with his opinion on the TFmovies too.

The universe has always been ours, we just never got around to conquering it properly last time.

Well, if it's any comfort, I'd like to join as a Decepticon. Specifically, I'd like to join the G1 Decepticons as Slipstream, a female Seeker who transforms into a MiG-27, built from the remains (including the laser core, AKA "spark") of Thundercracker, who was damaged beyond repair when the Ark crashed into Earth.

So... uh... is that within the realm of what I can do in this game?

The specifics of your character are entirely up to you, but you do get 12 of them to play with which can be edited/changed at your leisure. It's possible that Slipstream may already be taken though. It's not an individual RPG-style game, it's more team management.

Select the 'heavy metal war' link to your right, chose a faction and dive right in.

You could just make up your own characters, like a lot of people do, but, if you don't want to play, have fun, and we'll continue having fun with our text based management game. :D

Yeah casue if said potential player would've wanted to be a bot. Well we would have to mark up another anomily. You know the small list of bot players who managed to post something. Otherwise well it would be buisness as usual over here.
