Profile: Crankcase was constructed cold, and often feels ungrateful toward and unwanted by the Decepticons.

During the Great War, he joined the Decepticons and received his Decepticon insignia in a ceremony presided over by Megatron while station on the planet Frayus.

In the later stages of the Great War, he was reportedly crushed by Thunderwing and left for dead, but this has never been proven. Alive, but with a severe head wound that causes periodic bouts of “facial paralysis”, he rejoined the primary Decepticon command structure. Despite his return, Crankcase was left traumatized by the experience, and grappled with feelings of isolation and purposeless for some time afterward. To compensate, he learned to take pleasure in being ostracized, and often complain to demoralize those around him.

Crankcase was assigned to pilot the prisoner escort vessel, Weak Anthropic Principle, responsible for transferring prisoner to the Decepticon penitentiary. While in transit, his ship was hijacked by Krok and Spinister, who sprang Flyhigh — now calling himself MIsfire — as part of a last request from a friend of theirs. Crankcase was then locked in the ship's brig for an indeterminate time, but was eventually released. With nowhere else to go, he became a member of their ragtag crew, who took to calling themselves the Scavengers and became the de facto pilot of the Weak Anthropic Principle.

Abilities: Despite his trials, Crankcase is a highly skilled data collector, possessing a vast memory capacity to facilitate the storage and retrieval of information. He also exhibits great endurance and physical strength. Subject can launch infrared probes that penetrate a target’s outer armor and relay information regarding their entire infrastructure. Subject uses this to catalogue Autobot strengths and weaknesses for battle plans. Also armed in both modes with two high-impact laser cannons and a distortion modulator that scrambles enemies’ cerebro-circuitry.

Weaknesses: Subject exhibits no known physical weaknesses, but his desire to alienate others often leads to him being difficult to work with and alone, leaving him vulnerable to attack or manipulation by overtures promising a chance for improving himself and/or happiness. He also has the worst luck, often embodying the saying “If things could go wrong, they will.”
