Transmetal Cheetor fix

Hey, I'm new here, so I hope I'm doing this right. I've got an old Transmetal Cheetor that's rather playworn aged and now the chest plate won't stay in place in beast mode, making Cheetor look like he's constantly drifting off to sleep. I think this is a fairly common problem; my brother has the same figure, and it does the same thing.
Is there anything I can do to fix this short of taking out the pins (I'm afraid of breaking it)?

You should be able to (carefully!) tap the pins out with a hammer and nail/awl/screwdriver, then paint a very thin layer of clear nail polish or super glue on the insides of the joint. Let it dry, then test the joint (though you really shouldn't need more than one coat). Then all you have to do is reassemble everything and tap the pins back in.

Will the pins stay put after I reassemble it? I was assuming they were glued in.

Actually, one end of the pin is
knurled so it grips the plastic. That's why getting them out is a bit of a chore sometimes.

Ah. I had the same problem when I was taking apart my Tigerhawk. I'll try that then. Thanks.
