I haven't decieded yet. I'll play and fiddle with Spinout for a couple of days, and if he holds up, I"ll sell Sunsurge. If he doesn't, I'll sell him.

I like the over all looks of Spinout much better, but Sunsurge has set a high bar of satisfaction to meet. Honestly, I never would have picked up Spinner, but the sale at TFSource was too good to pass up.

On the other front, Backdraft is pure sex. Sweet, sweet, sex with 3 different ladies at once.

Let us know how it works out with Spinout. From the jump he was the one I liked more, I just didn't like the compromises that were made by the manufacturer in the end. Of course, this is coming from someone who didn't handle him at all, but it reminds me of some of the things on Apollyon that shouldn't be. Like screws on parts that twist that should be pinned (I'm looking at you leg panels!!!!)!

Also, that's a pretty serious argument for Backdraft.

So, I'm thinking of liqudating my collection down to just MPs and a handful of chugs that I really like. Thoughts?

I guess it depends on your reasoning. I may not have many transformers or knowledge about transformers but I've collected stuff for a while (Star Wars is my main focus), and my main philosophy has always been (unless you just want the money): if it can't be displayed nicely or just ends up going into a bin then it goes. It's what helps make sure you're collecting rather than hoarding. If you feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you have and want some space, then get rid of a few to make it look more neat, but don't do anything you'll regret.

I thought about doing that myself, but I don't PLAY with my MP's. They are first and foremost display pieces for me. I think I'd miss just grabbing a TF from my coffee table to fiddle with while watching TV or sitting on the computer. Not only that, MP's (due to their inherent complexity) are much less fun for me. In fact, the only MP's I enjoy transforming are Hotrod(28) and the cassettes.

See, I'm having the opposite problem. I love my mps, and enjoy the complexity. So much, that regular, main line figures just seem like kiddy crap to me. I no longer enjoy regular figures. There are a handful of exceptions, but most bring me no joy anymore. They are just wads of plastic on my shelf.

It's a thought that crosses my mind just about weekly. It's really hard not to have figures that can be picked up and tossed around. I feel like half of my MPs are durable, and half shouldn't ever be touched. That's not to say that CHUGs are more durable, I guess it's just an easier replacement option if one does fall apart.

I also switch and think I should get rid of MPs and jump back to CHUG! Although there's no way I could part with MP Optimus, Hot Rod, Wheeljack, Ratchet, Ironhide, Ultra Magnus, Prowl, Bluestreak, Reximus Prime, Bumblebee, Shockwave, Soundwave, Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy, Ratbat, Laserbeak.. so there goes me making money off of the sales

I have found myself selling (or attempting to sell) figures that I have a better version of in a Masterpiece. Then there's CW Ultra Magnus or Megaton, and even some of my Optimus figures. I just can't part with them. When I finally figure it all out, I'll let you know

Well then there you go. Cut the fat! Let me know what is for sale! There's definitely figures I have that feeling about, and if I didn't take 30 minutes to write my post maybe I wouldn't have written it at all 8-}

**** hell, but its a tough call to let go.

I used to be a completionist. I collected just about everything Transformer, Star Wars, and Lego related. I didn't even like half of the **** I was collecting, I just wanted to say I had a complete collection. About 7 years ago, I came to the realization that I was far more of a hoarder than I was a collector. Hell, I had to keep about 3/4s of my **** in attic storage. So, I started selling stuff on eBay. To give an idea of how much I used to have, since I stared selling on eBay, I've made just over $7900. That took me back a little.

I just don't see the point in keeping stuff I don't enjoy anymore.

This is a huge and important distinction. It sounds like it defines the direction you want to go, and that's OK! Hell! Your a grown ass, almost 40 year old man. You are aloud to switch gears to a more mature collectible if you see fit. It seems natural.

Ironhidensh wrote: My negative feelings aren't fail, as the toys are very good for what they are supposed to be.
They are not fail at all. I always think, for you specifically, that you can still get some enjoyment from the mainline toys vicariously through your boys. You get the pleasure of nurturing and sharing a love for TFs in them. You can get the enjoyment of playing with the toys while getting the enjoyment of quality father/sons time. You're lucky, and I'm jealous. I have two girls. (Although I still have hope they will show more interest as they get older.)

I support any decision you make as long as it makes you happy, brother. ;)^

I agree with the Cobro. Get stuff for yourself separate from your kids toys. And be happy with whatever choice you make, cause it's YOUR choice ;)^ With me, I'm buying a lot of stuff and sharing it with my daughter, she has a lot of fun with all the bots. Tea parties and such. It's fun to watch her transform these guys. KO MP Bumblebee is hers now!!
