I love Zelda!

The water temple wasn't necessarily hard, it was just a ton of that back and forth you guys are talking about. Flip a switch, flood a chamber, go back flip another switch, flood the next chamber. Go back flip the first switch, and on, and on, and on. Once you get the pattern it's cake though.

Best series ever. OoT will forever be the best for me. Has everything to do with the time, place, stage of life I was in. Every video game since has been a failed attempt to capture those same feelz.

I guess the original Legend of Zelda is still my favorite. It's crazy, I'm guessing it is due to not having a SNES or N64 and only ever playing ALttP and OoT after the original time frame.

STILL haven't finished OoT 3D. I should probably do that instead of playing this Pokémon Sun/Moon demo..

Zelda is the one franchise I had never gotten into. All my friends were playing it (on the N64) but my parents didnt like video games so I never had that console growing up. I would only play when I would go to a friend's house but then it would be multiplayer games like Super Smash. When you can only play for half an hour or an hour, no one will show you how to play Ocarina of Time. But now that I have a 3Ds, I am going back to play these games and loving them. Having playing things backwards, a Link Between Worlds is my favourite so far. Very smart puzzles and little backtracking. And man that water level was amazing!

Zelda is a really good franchise. I'll play anything with that type of item progression based exploration (Darksiders). If you like side scrolling platformers with a similar type of item locked exploration, then you should check out any of the Metroids. There are quite a few on the VC to boot. Or if you're feeling froggy the prime series are quite good too.

If you like it darker than go for Castlevania: SoTN. Speaking of it's about time I played through that game again; to be honest, I'm jonesing like a crack fiend to play through Super Metroid again. Its been over 20 years and I need my fix!

The *new* 3DS on black friday is going be hard to not buy. I hope they do a SNES Classic cause that would be tops.

On a more modern purple dragon metroidvania note, I've been enjoying the shirt out of Shadow Complex on the PS4. Its satisfying, but the gameplay is way to floaty. It's not nice and tight like Metroid. Also, Axiom Verge ;)^

In terms of metroidvania (where you need a certain item to move on), I really like the Batman Arkham games. Those are probably some of my favourite games of all time. As for Ocarina of time, I am currently at the water temple and its a bit daunting. The first half an hour is always disorienting but then you realize you can only go so far. So now I have the dungeon map and the compass so I hope to find the Longshot soon since i can see some places that need it :)

Now I got lots of power rangers Dino Charge toy lately and played with them to show all the kinds of fun combining options you can do. I tried to make the most big epic combinations I could think of. So lets get to it!

You should've played OoT on the 64. The camera has been improved significantly since. Navigating some of those tight dungeons are so much easier now. Also anyone with medium sized hands or above had issues with that dang batarang of a controller.

And that brings us to the Batman Arkham games. Yeah, that is the way to do item based exploration and backtracking. I've only played BMAA and BMAC, with AC being the far superior game. I do love some backtracking. Other than the shooting gallery style of game play in the new Uncharted Tomb Raider game, that was one of my biggest disappointments. I'd 100% an area on my first visit. I love backtracking and finding more stuff and new ways to go once I get upgrades. Well it's time for some blasphemy; I feel the BMA games would have been better without Batman... yeah, I said it :-P

I feel having to stick to the DC universe and the Batlimits held the game back from being even better than it could have been.

I'm thinking about firing up OoT while the mrs watches the Macy's parade.

And I dont know if you will agree cobo, but I find him better than the classics Datsuns. And his headsculpt rocks!

For looks alone Appolyon is the best one out there. Including the official. he has that silver finish everyone wants and that gun mode is impressive and he has a nice solid chunk for a torso. He is great. Its just the transformation that isnt fun but I dont know if the official is any better yet. For less than $100, Appolyon is a great buy. I doubt anyone would say the opposite.

That Ash part is interesting. You didnt want to call him red instead? I always found it super cool that in Super Smash brothers, the pokemon trainer was Red and not Ash. It really made it feel that these were characters from the games rather than the accompanying fiction.

That is a good way to look at it. I hadn't played a Pokemon game until Yellow, as I didn't have a GameBoy until then (picked up and still have the Special Pikachu Edition GBC). Back when the portables first came out, I received a Sega Game Gear. Still works too! SO! For me, Ash was always the trainer against Gary.

I have a few I recycle that are variations on a similar theme.

I did name a character Jacques Pantalones after our cat (Jack Pants) recently in FFXIV. That was a lot of fun.

I had some fun with the zord builder ports, here are some examples of the configurations you could do between Ninja Steel and Dino Charge:

More Power Rangers goodies!

Image

Now I can show you how freaken brilliant the designers are. Ok so the new line of Zords has a gimick where a robot pilots a bigger robot:

Image

Image

You can take this robot out and turn him into an arm for the mecha, leaving the chest area empty. So now any 5 inch figure can pilot it, like Power Rangers figures, and from previous lines too (like the Dino Charge ones I got today)

Image

Image

Here is that mecha piloted by a ranger fro the previous series with his arm replaced by a dinosaur from the previous series. This is some next level interconectivity.

Got some new Power Ranger Megazords. The Samurai megazord isn't great but the Claw Zord (who is a giant lobster) is probably one of the best Bandai of America ever made. Cobo, just think of it, a Giant Transforming Golden Lobster which turns into a sword weilding robot with 4 changing faces which can combine to become a giant Samurai! You would cream, I know I did.

I also combined them with a bunch of different things.

Its interesting how there are 2 different types of megazords, the ones that are made up of many differently coloured zords...

Image

and megazords that are one transformable character

Image

I actually preffer the ones that are their own thing and arent made up of different robots. What is awesome is they can combine with the other megazord made up of different entities, giving them super modes:
