I also got two new Cutthroats. One to replace the first one I got, hoping for better than a bird head that falls apart in the slightest breeze. And another for a project.

Both of them, are solid as a rock! They're like night and day from my first one. Makes me wonder, if the QC is worse than on first run figures than later runs?

Skullgrin was the only Pretender I had as a kid, so this was pure nostalgia. Only I totally goofed and didn't realize he was missing his sword, so now I gotta hunt that down.

bodrock wrote:Do you have any of the other li'l monsters, Shaj? I have none of them, unfortunately-- but I wouldn't want a remake of them, oddly enough -- the G1 incarnations are perfect. :x
The other lil fella is my first Monstructor piece. And I knew he was small, but DAMN he's small :lol:

Hopefully the sword isn't too expensive, Shaj (it shouldn't be) -- I have pretty much given up on chasing any more Pretender accessories. My Stranglehold only has his helmet. :p

A complete Monstructor is a holy grail set as far as I'm concerned! Would you say they're Micromaster-sized?

Been kinda awol lately. Some big things going on.
Namely, my mom moved in with me a week ago. My old man is in a permanent care facility these days, and my mom sold her house in order to pay the bills. But we get along just fine and are ok with arrangement, its just been a surprising amount of work. Add an on-call rotation into the mix and I've no time for nothin lately #-o

Strangely enough though, I managed to do some hunting, and make some great scores. First up, is the last Prime Masters! Pretty happy with that since I get nervous with the last of any line 8-}

Image

Another last, the final (so far) Walmart G1 Reissue, Hotrod!

Image

Then the DP2 Steelbook which I very VERY narrowly avoided missing out on:

Image

And finally a hello from two little dudes. My new deskbot Tailgate, and Buckaroo 8-}

Sorry to hear about the situation with the old man, at least your mom and you get along, so there's a positive!

Puppy is pupper cute :x

Nice Prime masters! Mine are coming tomorrow with something big

Thanks to an awesome local buddy who's super fast with his mouse clicky finger, I got my V1 Bee Movie cassette pack!

Wow Jak! Sorry to here about your Pops. We've discussed your lovely Mother before in the past, and I always thought she sounded like a sweet gal. So, with edition of Mom to the household, does that mean more dogs too? Doesn't she have a few just like DaKing and lill Buckaroo?

How does "on call" work at your job? Does the plant run 24 hours a day? Call is intense. The Wife-o-tron has weekly call and it adds a weird dynamic to our home life.

Good haulin'! So glad you were able to land those cassette bots from that Bee box! ;)^

I feel sort of odd getting consolation for my old man... lets just say the past is complicated. My main focus is my mom's stability (financial and mental) and we're doing great on that front so I'm happy. And yeah, it's a 4 dog household now :lol:

My on-call is voluntary, we sign up for a years rotation at a time. Basically I get 2 weeks of on-call, every 3 months or so? There's emergency call-outs (not very often) but what it primarily means is all overtime is offered to the on-call team first. So those two weeks are usually good money makers!

The V1 Bee Cassettes are the hard ones to get (only SDCC and HTS which is dodgy AF for foreigners) so I'm psyched I was able to get the hook up. The V2 set is literally everywhere online, so I got it locked in already ;)^

Speaking of the Bee Dino Cassettes, I posted this elsewhere...

Weird, out of left field, and actually kind of lame (even though its still cool). First off, who even knew they could produce these molds? What else do they have lyin around?

It's pretty neat that these were made. But I say lame, because... seriously? The Dino-cassettes are a set of four, they needed four cassettes for these two sets, and they released the same two just in different colors.

But I just realized while typing... that between both sets... you can make a duo of OG colors, and a duo of new weird candy colors. Think they planned that? :-?

Hope all goes well with your mother and the 4 dogs, Shaj! Great score on the Bee tapes.

If I had remembered they were also at SDCC, I would have asked my sis to hook me up as well. But I have been having a bit too much fun with the Throne. :p

Brawl's up. He's an odd duck....
Tanks mode looks fine enough, but the main turret, y'know, the big gun you'd want to move, doesn't move. Even though there's a joint in the transformation that could totally allow it (though at the wrong axis, and would expose a huge hole). The turret above however, does move. Transformation about the right level of complexity you'd want. Bot mode is posable, enough, I guess. Nothing crazy, but not particularly limited like Blackout. His main issue, I'd say is his size. Shoulda been a Leader *tsk tsk*.

I disagree on "Shoulda been a Leader". That would make him way oversize in the Studio Series. Looking at the first movie, he's about the same size as Ironhide. And since Optimus, Megatron, and Ironhide are Voyagers for scale purposes in the Studio Series, Brawl being one makes him the right size.

You guys and you Throne Munkees. I'm pretty jealous. Mine will be a while, to avoid headache (and by myself some time) I preordered the Takara release. I do have the standard Potpie OpOp, and I will humbly concede that the mold is WAY better than I thought it would be. In the beginning he kind of broke my heart, with his off-colors, hollow bits, and toon model inaccuracies. Couple that with the fact that I had an OG OpOp (well, Primal Prime anyways) in arms length the whole time saying "RAWR he's perfect already I don't need this".

All it took was a couple minutes in hand, and he won me over. It's funny how this mold gives him slightly better proportions, slightly better articulation, and it makes him THAT much more impressive. I have the original, PE's Gorrira, and I'm still super happy I have him. AND can't wait for Throne Munky 8-}

Ehh... you might be 100% right, but that doesn't really matter to me. I sure remember him being big and imposing, so that's how I want my toy representation. And since it's achievable (with the OG Leader mold still being worthwhile 10 years later) I'm not too bothered by the whole scenario.

Y'all got great points on OpOp. I have original...somewhere...and while he was awesome, I am concerned by the shiny parts. (Been stung by GPS too much, methinks...) I got Thrones from HTS, and he is much more impressive than I thought he'd be. I do not yet have PotPie OpOp, but am looking forward to him and the add-on kit to allow for Trukk not Munky mode... :-s

Sup Ag! ;;)
I'm most likely in for that set, but I was surprised that it wasn't just a straight up replacement piece. A chunk of plastic, to stay on OpOp, replacing the small Primal, making OpOp proper to the show model. That's what I'm looking for.

That, and a new head to make him Optimal Megatron.
WHY WON'T ANYONE MAKE ME AN OP MEGS?! #-o

You don't have to worry about his shiny parts breaking because the shiny is paint. So the worst it can do is flake off and leave the plastic below nekked.

Still, none of the Transmetals flake as bad as Beast Machines Ultra Jetstorm. I bought a MISB one a year or so ago and his chrome was flaking off in the box. #-o

SOOOOOOoooooo.... anyone recall my interest in a high quality lightsaber replica? Apparently Star Wars Black has the next best thing...

Image

I saw this bad boy at my local TRU about a month ago, for 200 bucks. I meant to look up a review (200 is steep when you don't know the quality) but never got around to it. Well today I was out and about, landed at the TRU I spotted it originally in and they were all gone! Just a single Vader saber sitting there. So standing there, I looked it up on TRU.ca, it was in stock, and on sale for 150. So I axed the lady if there were any more in town, and she found one in the back! Couple this with the fact that I had a fresh 50 bucks from recycling by bottles and I was like %$#@ YEAH :KREMZEEK:

My "sword collection" is now at 2 :lol:

Image

So how is it....
It's pretty neat. I'm not sure if I'd like it as much if I paid a full 200 for it though. But maybe my expectations were high. The handle feels fatter than it should be, but it feels like its made of some type of metal (most likely aluminum) which is nice. It lights up and makes sounds, replicates movement. But I wish the sounds were optional. And I wish the blade were removable. I'm pretty sure down the road I'll still end up buying one of those pricey 3P ones, but this one is still pretty neat.

Great score Jedi Master Jak!

I think you're right. Worth the hundo, for sure. Still maybe worth a Loon fifty. 200 Loonies, NOPE!

I bought the Force FX Anikin saber years ago. I think it was $150 back then. The handles are nice for mass produced replicas. The only problem I had with mine is the dome cap on the blade popped off. I still need to glue it back on, but I feel like it really should have never popped off in the first place.

I'd like to delve into a really nice 3P saber too. In fact, I'm thinking after MP Megs and Battle Buffalo are paid for, I might start saving for one. I really want Obi's handle from EP 1, but maybe with a green blade. Because green is the cooooooolest!

Is that the Anakin Revenge/Luke New Hope/Rei Awakens handle? It was at TRU too... honestly the fact that it was her face on the box kinda turned me off :lol: #origtrigpurist

Maybe get the green one he had in Attack of the Clones? :-?
My OCD wouldn't allow for the wrong colored blade no matter how much I prefer green :lol:
