Hey we can fit all the population of the earth online the Isle of Man ;-) you just wouldn't get a lot of personal space...

So you guys remember how I raved about and found it almost frightening how good KO MP Prowl was?

Well, you can't win 'em all.

KO MP-12 Lambor is a great big pile of Chinese factory poop!
Image
WHY ME, PRIMUS? WWWWHHHHYYYYY?!?!?!? :-(

So. Straight out of the box there was this big hunking chunk of plastic just gone from his collar.
Image

Then I found he was misassembled. This little bar piece should lay flush on the left side like it does on the right.
Image

The piece is meant to be held in place by the pin that also holds the front wheel.
The pin just missed the hole.
Image

I'm not sure what that thin little piece really does, but I think it may be why he can't fully transform.
Image
It takes way too much force to tab the chest to his waist. It can be done, but it pops back out really easily.

But honestly, I still think he is a pile of turd compared to the KO Prowl I got. Aside from these blatant errors, he can barely hold his gun (I know it's an issue on official versions too, but this is worse), there's no tension in the port to hold his shoulder cannon, he's riddled with stress marks anywhere a pin was inserted, and just shoty paint application.

Lessons learned?
KO's are just that. Cheaper, poorly made copies of the original.
Buying these things are hit or miss.
And, buyer beware. Don't set your expectations too high on these KOs.

I did write an email to TF-Direct asking if they would exchange it for another. They have already replied, but they said they are contacting the manufacturer to see about replacement parts. Not really what I want. I would rather just take my chances with an entirely new figure, but we'll see what they say. At least TF-D got back to me quickly.

Oh, and FYI, this was a "Takara Tomy" KO not Takasa Tony. Maybe the factory who churned out the Takasa Tonys did a better job on their Lambor figures.

I've read that the KO Sideswipe was pretty ass but later releases got better and it's a YMMV kind of a dice roll.

Most of all the other KO MP Autocars are supposed to be as good if not better (Tracks with rubber wheels), but people still get an occasional lemons.

I still say you should burn down their house with lemons.

I think newer than MP Wheeljack is where they really went awesome. I knew he had some joint issues, but MP Bumble was good, items after him had upgrades like you mentioned!

I wonder what the result would have been if I ordered Lambor from the same Ali Express seller I ordered Prowl from?

I also wonder how many actual Factories are KOing these things. Could be 2. Could be 10.

There's probably no way to pin down who is making good ones and who is making bad ones.

That would be an interesting experiment!! Also, I'm guessing TF-D probably doesn't want to refund you monies, do they.

TF-Direct wrote:Thank you so much for your photo and details on the defect part.

No worries, we will do our best to solve the problem with you. We've submitted the photo to supplier and ask them to find the replacement part. But it might take a while. Hope you can understand.

We will keep following it and if we have any update, we will let you know in time! Thanks!

Sorry again for all the inconvenience.

Best regards,

I find their reply vague, and it doesn't instill much faith. I mean, are they really going to persue this THAT hard?

I'm guessing any retailer wants to avoid a refund. I don't really want to have to "repair" this one. I'd rather they just replace it.

That will be an interesting case study. ;)^

Dammit Takasa Tony!!

I just picked up a KO MP Shockwave, CoBro -- you can see imperfections errywurr, but he is still photogenic....and I see him as a glorified CHUG. ;)

Whelp... now that I think about it, it makes sense. Out of all the MP KO's, Swipe is the only one I've heard truly damning things about. Buyer beware indeed! What made you go for it anyways? And why the KO route? This talk of experimenting with multiple KO sources would probably just end up with a bill bigger than a proper official figure
And I say fight the store. They're saying replacement parts, maybe? With the amount of pieces he needs replacing you'd end up with 2 figures anyways

You could, y'know, just go and buy one of these pure pieces of sex :x =P~

I've heard he may be standard BadCube exploding transformation though..

On MP-12, the back is actually on a double hinge that brings the whole torso down onto the waist proper, and that tap is supposed to tab into the front of the Lambo to lock the whole assembly in place, in case you hadn't figured any of those out yet!

And Badcube man, I have heard so much about the overcomplicating of things. They make some damn nice looking bots, but the transformation is a nightmare on all the ones I've heard about

Only one I got is Surgio, and.... yeah he does essplode. Great in both modes, but the journey sure is some rocky terrain...

I just assumed Swipe and Red were simpler designs though. I can't imagine them being worse than Surgio.

Well son ova BIT......!

Saddle Jockey wrote:Buyer beware indeed! What made you go for it anyways? And why the KO route?
I went KO with Prowl because I have three of that official mold, and I wanted Prowl to go with Clampy, Cordon, Red Alert, and Arty. I was so astounded by the almost perfect quality of Prowl, that I figured it would be neat to finally have a Swipe, and KO because I already have 2 of the official mold.

I have actually considered this, but in the end I don't need Swipe THAT bad. And I wish he had the arm wheels and door wings like his Red counter part.

Oh yeah.I know. I have Red and Clampy and used them as reference to try to discern what the hell was going on. AND, I already had to take the Xacto knife to the KO to shave down some bits so they would tab proper.
