For one thing, that picture does not do him justice. I wish I did have him here to photograph and show off, but here is why I think this figure is underrated.

1) 5 good figures are in the set.
All 5 figures are well worth it in this set. they all look good in robot mode, abomination mode, and transform quite easily but still nicely. Twinstrike in particular stands out do to some fancy work with his beast mode limbs. Same with Blight basically flipping himself over to transform.

2) Combination.
Yes, the limbs are very limited with where they can go, but they do work well with what they do have. Rippersnapper makes an awesome foot with his beast mode arms making up the twin spiky toes. Blight is a very solid foot as well, making the figure actually quite stable. Yes, Hun-Gurr's beast legs make for some very tall shoulders, but to me that makes it feel more of a heavy set pugnacious feel, with the head set lower between tall shoulders. Plus, the connection is very stable and those arms wont go anywhere. Speaking of which. I love having Twinstrike make a fair of toothy hands. And those front beast legs fold up much better along the body than that picture implies, making it a much nicer arm. Windrazor makes a good arm too with the wings adding some heft to it and the beast mode beak is a sharp bladed hand. And the fact that Hun-gurr's head and Abominus' head occupy the same space is quite cool.

3) Combined mode.
for one thing, Hun-gurr's beast mode arms make an awesome second set of hand. for another, Rippersnapper makes a mean spiky kneepad with clawed toes. And for another, he's similar to CW motormaster: every stock picture ever and even looking at him in pictures makes him look awful, but in hand he looks much nicer. This applies to this guy: they can't seem to get it right, and sometimes ignoring the instructions makes him look much better, like the positioning of beast mode kibble on each of the individuals. To simply put it: he's one of those that looks far better in-hand than in pictures.

Overall he comes out to the size of a deluxe or a smidgen bigger, but he still is an awesome figure. He could have been better had Hun-gurr been a commander class (much like how CW fixed FoC) but for what he is and the fact that I got him as a giftset for $12, he is well worth it. Each figure is cool on their own and the combination makes it just a bit sweeter.

and those are the reasons I find Prime Abominus to be underrated

Awesome D, I love it. We all have different opinions and tastes and its great to get that kind of insight. It's something I feel "we" tend to forget. I appreciate that summary.

BB21, the gauntlet has been raised, what makes CW Motormaster underrated in your book? I have CW MM and OP. I feel they're perfectly fine figs, but what makes MM stand out to you? I'll ask the same question; pros, cons?

A concept I'm tossing around and by tossing I mean posting in multiple venues. I was doing some rearranging and stickering/restickering. I added a chesticle sticker to gen Arcee and decided Windblade needed some loving. I got to playing with her and I decided she is way more articulated than quite a few bots released since.

Her wings can be moved across several axises to either change her look or represemt mood.

Her arms have a crazy amount of movement. Ball jointed shoulders (with wiggly shoulder pads), bicep swivel, a good amount of elbow swivel and frakking wrist swivels!

Legs have ball jointed hips and thigh swivels with more than 90° knee movement.

Her sword sheath can be mounted on her thigh or back via the nosecone.

Granted her transformation, poses and getting her to stand can be a fiddly nightmare, but I've never had a problem. Making her look cool on my shelf. She may inherit a dedicated flight stand in the near future.

So, my question to you is: who are your underappreciated figures and why?

Baby. :x

I really like that Windblade and your pictures are on point as always!

Have you read the Windblade comic series? I just finished issue #1 yesterday.

Thanks, I think?

I forgot you have the Tak WB. I prefer the deco on the Has version and the face on Tak's. Either its a cool figure. I'm going skip the RID version. I do have IF's kid sister on its way ;)^

I happen to like the character quite a lot.

I'm also curious :-?

I've read most of it. I think I just got issue 5 during. The last IDW digital sale. I enjoyed them and the characters quite a lot. I liked the dynamic between WB and Chromia.

I'd watch that cop show :APPLAUSE:

Edit: read the 4 part mini series and the CW ones up to #5 and I just picked up #6 & 7

The comic series numbering and reading order confuses me :HEADHURTS:

Whoever wants to talk back I suppose? I was referring to the Windblade pics above my post specifically. I know both of you to take great pics of course.

Chromia makes the best faces. I feel kinda bad I mix up the femme bot's names because they got introduced to me all at the same time. Hopefully as they are featured more this will stop happening. I am better at telling Windblade apart bc she is in many series I follow.

Boy, oh boy, my shelf could use some lady bots. It's all mechs and wwe wrestling figs!

Thanks to my friend and all around awesome person Cramtastic, I've added a few more bots to my Lost Light collection. My room is a wreck right now as it has become the temporary storage for Xmas deco boxes (I'm too lazy to put them back in the attic just to get them back down in a month); I cannot take any proper pics. Lucky for me there is a window next to the LL shelf.

Without farther ado, the captain himself! Classics Hot Rod, more specifically the Battle in Space deco ;)^

Image
A little short for a storm trooper

Image
It's take your kid to work day!

Of course with that BiS fig came this bruiser.

Image

Now I have this dilemma to deal with...

Image

And to round out the new additions we got a little Datsun Bro action.

Image
Only one short of a trio; now I want a completely different mold for Smokescreen :-?

This is my first time with all these molds and I'm loving these guys. Hot Rod is clever and solid and I wasn't expecting that flip out cutter

Streak is a little fiddly and awkward but super cool, dat silver yo. Loving the flip out shoulder rockets that Gen Skids stole.

My fav is Cyclonus. Solid, smart, sleek; just deadly looking. The colors are spot on and the rubsign kills the current IDW "I'm not a Decepticon" mantra. I see a 3p Tailgate and upgrade kit in my future ;)^

Many thanks again dood, these bots are tops ;)^

Hooray! I'm glad you like them! I did notice whilst transforming him that one of Rodimus' arms had the tendency to pop out of the shoulder socket, which I thought was weird. I was gonna floor polish it for you but he's yours now to do what you want with!

That Cyclonus definitely fits with Generations Tailgate!

It's a good thing I didn't send you Prowl, I didn't know you'd want all of them in different molds!

Yeah, I popped his arm right off first thing  I just bought some floor polish last week end, but haven't been home long enough to use it on any figures yet.

I didn't know I wanted the Dat Bros in different molds until I snapped the pic. Now the question is, which one... :-?
