Impossible for me to make that call. They are, to me, two different toys in two different classes that scratch different itches. Takara TR Kup is a fine toy, bit that's all it is. Still a great addition to a Chug shelf.

Koot is a work of art.

I'm gonna say you choose Koot

I have a feeling toys are all I'm going to buy anymore, it's just getting too pricey otherwise. So I'm glad to know Kup is worth it!!

Well I don't envy that task. Unpacking the collection after we moved was the best of times and the worst of times.

Much like barn raising, there should be collection raisings!

So I got these the other day.

As far as the Prime masters go, for a 5 dollar figure, they are friggin' cool. Not much else to say there.

Starscream sucks huge goat testicle. I was expecting a fail and still disappointed. He just doesn't do it for me in any way, nothing just looks right, and the transformation id's deluxe level simple. It's boring. If I didn't have a Starscream collection, I'd toss it to my kids.

Optimus prime....... I gotta say, I'm surprised how much I like this. Yeah, the truck mode is pure trash, but the Robot modes...... They are great. Pax is a bit on the simple side, and both robot modes have hella backpack syndrome.... but that evolved Prime mode is excellent. So great looking, and super posable. Both headsculpts are to die for as well. Very happy with this purchase.

P.S.

New RROF pics coming this week.

Well, I'm glad Starscream didn't surpass expectations :D On a basic level, what do you think they should've done differently? Meaning what minor things could be changed to make it good.

I've watched a few reviews of that Optimus and I can't help but think of how they should've done something similar for Powermaster Optimus Prime and it woulda been awesome. I mean, the trailer is the frame of the combined mode!! Dang it!!

Also, hooray new photos!!

I haven't really heard much encouraging about that Starscream. It never looked right from the moment I saw it and the more I see the less I like. The combined mode looks OK, but not something I'm looking for. An easy pass getting easier.

I dig the PMs more than I would have thought. The pretenders have never done it for me, even when I was a kid. Could be that they are just a $5 toy. I like the size and they have nice paint jobs. They are good to bring to work and play mech suit robo-guy with and honestly I can't have enough TMs/PMs ;)^

Weapon mode is more cohesive than the TMs, but just like the TMs they could have skipped it and I'd have been just as happy.

SO glad you like Prime
I always worry when I inspire others to spend money, that they won't share my enthusiasm once they get them in hand :-s

I get the SS hate though. Bot and jet mode are both weird, I'd only recommend him for the torso to make a Brutiscream.

That's what kills Starscream for me, the combined gimmick. I think without the sacrifices in design that warrants, the figure could have been really amazing.

As promised, here are the new, updated pics of the Robot Room of Fun, now that previous tenant has vacated.

First, we will take a look at the overview of the room:

Here you can see storage bins of excess Legos and Transformers:

Here is the Optimus Prime collection:

Image

Starscream collection right here:

Image

Rodimus Prime/Hot Rod, and the Optimus Primals that I need to increase the numbers for:

Image

The beginnings of a Bumblebee collection, since the 'Bee is about the only part of the Movie franchise that I still enjoy:

Image

The Unite Warriors, who's group I need to stop being cheap about and expand:

Image

Binaltech/Alternators and random figures that I like:

Image

Some Decepticons hiding in the back, the way they do:

Image

Now we get to the best parts of the room, the Masterpieces. Starting with Beast Wars:

Image

Some random guys:

Image

Season 3 of G1:

Image

Season 2 and some Decepticons:

Image

And my favorite part, season 1:

A couple of updated shots of the character collections featuring PotP additions:

Then this guy......

I'm not sure that PotP Rodimus will survive. I hate this figure. I really, really hate it, like, irrationally. I want to take it to the backyard and use it for .22 lr practice. Seriously, my kids even think its a stupid toy.

Man, I've wanted one of those for a long time. Can't stomach the price of the real ones, and not willing to take a chance on the knockoffs (I remember reading somewhere that the HA Jazz knockoffs weren't that good).

Yeah, I've seen some of the prices he goes for online, and I'd be lying if I said I was never tempted, but I love this figure, so its never going.

Speaking of prices, I just saw a real Hasbro one on eBay for the "affordable" price of $70. If I hadn't been buying video games recently, mabye I could have gotten that.

Nice rebuild! I'm a fan of your shelf of figures that you just like, with the triple changers, Overlord, and Brainstorm among them (T30 Brainstorm is one of my favorite robot mode figures I own, and one of my favorite TFs overall).

I'm so surprised at how many a reviewers and fans hate Rodimus. I really liked him from the moment I got him, and he is my favorite figure of wave 1

I think the biggest reason I hate Rodimus is because I can see how good that figure could have been, if not for the gimmick. We already had a decent Hot Rod from the last line (especially if you went the Takara Legends route) so we really didn't need a new one. Making the vehicle mode one transforming piece would have been soooo much better.

That's what burns me. Sacrifice of any decent design for the sake of a 100,000% unnecessary gimmick.

I 100,000% agree with that statement about a lot of the unnecessary shoe-horned in line-wide gimmicks ;)^

I'm cool with gimmicks, I'm cool with x character have x gimmick that they didn't have before, I'm just not cool with everyone having the same gimmick (unless that gimmick is transforming) [-(

Looks great Densh! Glad to see everything back in the mix.

Really like those character shelves. I never display that way, but I really like to see them all together like that. ;)^
