I nabbed this fella locally to replace the other one... I also nabbed locally.. that broke when I transformed him. And yes, this guy qualifies for my "extreme cases" kinda buys. Seriously, TRY to find another one of these. It ain't easy 8-}

I've always liked that version of Starscream, I've yet to find one at a decent price. Decent price for me is what it retails for or less.

So yes, I've tried

Peru Kill looks amazing. I've watched a video of the transformation, and it seems unreal.

Is the juice worth the squeeze? Thoughts?

He's interesting to say the least. Kind of an oddball, as I don't know what to file him under. He falls just short of being an MPM, but is clearly better than any mainline figure.

His transformation is bizarre and even somewhat simplistic. Be basically just turns inside out. He has some beautifully sculpted details, but lacks some refinement. Like, there's a small gap in his biceps, and his knee articulation is odd as it needs to slightly un-transform to get a proper bend. Though the knee thing I might just be doing it wrong.

Those are just minor nitpicks though. He looks so incredible that I had to watch AOE again right after I got him. He's an awesome character and this is (so far) his definitive interpretation. And barring any official MPM, it's likely to stay that way given there are two new ones (MB and SS) that still can't tick all the boxes that this fella can.

He gets my thumbs up ;)^

Been boring lately in my neck of the woods. Though it'll get a little more exciting today as I've got 2 packages to pick up after work. But a previous weekend of Link to the Past'ing with my niece got me itching. Her first gaming love is Zelda, and she ended up grabbing my old Oracle GBC carts, along with Link's Awakening. It inspired me to do something I've never actually done before: play (and finish) Zelda 1 and 2.

Image

I've never actually played either of the originals (for more than an hour) which is something I've always been ashamed of, since I call myself a Zelda fan. So on Sunday I started Z1, and got 90% done actually. IT'S HARD. But of course it is, I'm not a seasoned gamer anymore, and NES is back when games were actually hard still. Essentially all I have left to do is navigate Ganon's castle and kill'em, I've got all items and already explored most of that dungeon but it's a freakin maze.

Then I'll play Z2, which is actually something I've always wanted to do. When I was growing up I had a neighbor ho had it. He was a bit older than me and showed it to me and I remember thinking "damn this is what BIG KIDS play"

GAME ON, Shaj!

As far as the Zelda series, goes, I was more into SHMUPs and turn-based RPGs....so I never dug into the series (just watched others, if anything). I totally get the love, though -- good luck on your retro-questing. ;)

Ah Zelda 1 is a classic. Many a hour has been spent burning every bush and bombing every rock. Fun fact, almost (if not) every screen of the overworld has a secret... good luck. Probably the first "open world" game ever. Other than a few required tools/weapons you can tackle that game in any order.

I've sorta recently tinkered with both Z1 & 2 on the NESC.

I had a revelation when I really started to sink my teeth into Zelda 2, its like a "Souls" game or the other way around. Truly a challenging experience that's more skilled based than just win by grinding.

LttP still remains my gold bar of measuring a Zelda game. After the 3 month 250+ hour love affair with Breath of the Wild I may have to re-evaluate. I also may not ever be able to go back to a traditional Zelda game. BotW has a lot in common with Z1 but pulls influences from across the series. It mostly feels like a spiritual sequel to OoT.

Not gonna lie, I walkthrough'd the hell outta Z1. I didn't want to play it for months, I just wanted to get it done so I can say I did it. At parts it was frustratingly difficult, but towards the end I got my feels and started enjoying it. I'm warming up to the idea of tackling the Second Quest :-?

I have been battling the idea of getting a Switch, even if only for BOTW. But with my current money plans, I can't justify the money, especially knowing my recent apathy towards gaming....

No shame in the walk-through game. I for one don't have that much time to beat my head against a wall. My free "entertainment" time is limited and high valued.

 yeah Z2 is a pretty challenging game. Much like a lot of games from the "Nintendo hard" era. It sits somewhere between unfair, bad controls and actual challenge. Nintendo is really good at walking that line. BotW reminded of the "Souls" series as well. I have even called it a "Souls lite" game before. I don't want my hand held nor do I mind a challenge, but I don't want artificial hard just for the sake of bragging rights.

I can honestly say that BotW is worth the price of admission. Mario Odyssey is also a good arguement for the Switch, not to mention the cubic ton of ports coming to the system. For someone like me that spends a lot of time on the road it's the perfect system. It's also nice to transition from living room TV to bedroom seamlessly. If you got a WiiU, then play BotW there.

I've been playing open world 3rd person action/adventure/RPGs for a long time and I had some preconceived notions of BotW before booting it up and everyone of them were completely shattered. It really is a special game that does almost everything right. I transitioned from the Witcher 3 to BotW and I can't even look back. Playing the Witcher felt like walking upstream where pretty much everything in BotW is fun, even the most mundane of tasks. It's really kinda hard to articulate into words just how good the game really is. I haven't been this hooked on a game in decades and several console generations.

I just gave it a go last night and GAHD DAYUM. The Stalfos and Darknut's? (lol)
It is damn near impossible to kill those buggers, unless you know exactly how to strike them. I'm a fan of Cinemassacre so I was watching Mike Matei play it, and if I hadn't then I'd have had no idea. Ugh... I am not looking forward to the task #-o

Well you make a damn good case. I do have a WiiU, but I'm one of those silly individuals that has to play a game the best way it can be presented. So I'd need to buy a Switch. S'just how I am
And I've actually watched some gameplay of Odyssey... and while it looks amazing, I just don't care. It looks too busy. I loved Mario 64 to death, but I think that was my threshold. Everything since then just feels like Mario 64 plus gimmicks, and the additions just turn me off.

So what ports do you speak of? :-?

USB ;)

Keep in mind a lot if not all of these are last gen and/or available on more powerful hardware.

Out now
Doom
Skyrim
Axiom Verge
Blaster Master Zero
Resident Evil Revelations 2
L.A. Noire
Bayonetta 1&2
Shovel Knight
Minecraft
Rocket League (blah who cares)

Upcoming
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (what's with all the definitive eds?)
Dark Souls Remastered
Terria
Outlast(s)
Wasteland 2
Various Mega Man/X Collections & 11

And several more indie and AAA games, but that is the easy to find list. thanks IGN

I'm not a "play it/watch it/listen to it" on the best way possible (I still play PS3 games) so porting older games (even gimped) to a portable is very attractive to me. But I do spend at least one week a month out of town and I've transitioned from living room TV, to couch then to bed almost every night since xmas. Hell I'd even re-buy games that I haven't finished on one of my Playstation consoles to have a portable version. Wasteland 2 comes to mind. After puking my love of the Switch on itscramtastic and cobotron for the last few months, I really really really want the Mass Effect trilogy to come to the Switch. I've only fully played 2 and would love to try 1 and finish 3.

The Switch doesn't fit everyone and as far as horse power goes it's somewhere between last gen and current gen. As a handheld though, it's the most powerful option you got. I play it everyday at lunch in table top mode ;)^

EDIT: I just saw the announcement that Out of this World (Another World for those out of the states) is making it's way to the Switch. I think that's the benchmark for a console when this game gets ported. Seems Flashback is also heading that way. Paint me excited because I need to re-buy these games again. Hell I used to tote a bootleg copy of OotW on a 3.5" floppy around with me in high school 8-)

EDIT 2: Diablo 3 may also be coming... maybe... and maybe, I'd buy it for a 3rd time :BANG_HEAD:

Hyrule Warriors! Nice... I never got the first release. Diablo would be neat (easily tied with Zelda for 1st place for 1st loves in gaming) but if I were to get back into it, I'd just go back on my PC.

You know what I would absolutely die to have? HD, Resident Evil 4, Wii controller compatible.
I think that Res4 was one of the best modern games I ever played, and I didn't give two ****s about the franchise beforehand. I played it on the GC, then the PS2, then a few years(?) later on the Wii. And, MY GAWD, is that ever the way to play that. They released an HD version of it a couple years ago, but only for normal controller types, and it pales in comparison to the Wiitroller. As a point & shoot, it was SO fun, my accuracy was always above 90%. I should play it again actually, its been a while :-?

Jaki Weekend Update:

I've given up on Zelda 2. For now...
It is so *&^!ing hard. The platform I'm playing them on is my GBA SP (Nintendo released a handful of straight NES ports for it back in the day) and honestly, the small screen and controls just isn't doing it for me. So I plan to give it a proper go on the NES Classic. No I don't have one, but I've read that it's being reissued (this summer?). I managed to find a SNESC in the wild, and actually a handful of times now since then! So I'm optimistic that I'll eventually nab a NESC as well. 8-)

Update the second, I've played around with Targety Rodders! And took pictures of the affair!

How do I feel about him? Mmmmmmm.... mixed.
If you recall, I'm a huge Hotrod fanboy, and the new MP mold is among my top 3 MP's. Obviously the "animation error" color scheme is weird, but I can forgive it. However... after handling the brand new MP Targetmaster that came with Artfire, I feel reviving that old Offshoot(?) mold was just flat out lazy. I don't want to imply that he is flat out TRASH, but he is certainly dated compared to fresh work.

Here is an odd observation. Seeing the two Rodsters standing next to each other reminds me of a Takara vs Hasbro comparison with the TM Roddy Piper being the Takara release.

I like the darker maroon of the new one but not the paint scheme from the waist down.

I've played with this figure before and it's a lovely TF. For someone who owns neither, which would you recommend?

Playing Zelda 2 on GBA seems very masochist, just saying. Yes the NESC is supposed to be getting a re-release this summer. Just like the SNESC the emulation is spot on. Hopefully they'll add that sweet rewind feature to the re-release as the first one lacked it. I save scum the hell out of the SNESC like the bitch I am.

I can't help but love the bright maroon incarnation there, despite digging dat targetmaster. Even though I may not prefer the other figure, I do appreciate the option -- but it's only an option because I generally wait until years later to pick-up an MP. If I had bought one and then they released a subsequent version I preferred, I'd be annoyed. :p

With handheld gaming, it makes the most sense for turn-based RPGs, visual novels, etc. -- it would be torture for me to button mash on any handheld as well. I tried it with Monster Hunter on PSP = not so fun.

Playing on the PSP was a nightmare of hand cramps. The analog nub was way to low and took way too much effort to move. Lacking a second nub meant that most games assigned camera movement to the d pad resulting in the claw style.

Image

The Vita was much better with the control layout and has two sticks but lacks the now vital second set of shoulder buttons and stick clicks.

The 3DS falls somewhere in the middle and has its own set of issues.

The Switch on the other hand plays like a console on the go because it's the exact same controls in either mode. It's brilliantly balanced in the hand like the Vita where the 3DS is top heavy. I found with both the Vita and the 3DS I'd subconsciously use my little fingers to support the unit but with the Switch's design that isn't necessary. There's a bump out around the shoulder buttons that allows your fingers to support it weight.

I think I played the Switch for 3 weeks before ever connecting it to a TV. The experiences are different depending on how you play though, but doesn't effect the game much. The biggest issue I've run into is after getting used to motion aiming while docked then having to swing the entire console in handheld mode.
