Cobs! The Diaclone master.... I think I have some bad news for you. I think I'm out :-?

I had some serious car trouble this week. A $5000 PIECE of my transmission went, grounding me till (hopefully just) next Wednesday. And apparently the transmission as a whole is worth 20K. It's siphoned off every dollar I have and then some. Now I don't have my little bit of savings, nest egg for MP-44, or anything extra really.

I've been thinking about my Diaclone collection and haven't been feeling great about it for a while. In the sense that I'm a completionist, and I only have about 25% of the line. There's so many repaint's and exclusives, and they aren't cheap. I'm 99% sure I'm pulling the plug, and almost as sure that I'm going t sell off what I have. I could really use the cash, and focus. I'm just spread too thin at the moment (and thank god I'm not collecting a parallel Takara/Hasbro line right now).

I've been having similar thoughts. Not sure I'n all out completely, but I just can't keep up with all these Powered Suits. I want big bots! I don't even have them all. It's all really expensive. all of it. I think I might just aim for more Warruder, and pump the breaks on Diaclone stuff. Super happy with what I have, though.

If you decide to sell. Let's talk.

To be fair, if I could justify it I'd totally buy him. I didn't really care for the mold to begin with (I went with Despotron as my MP Megs) but the toyetic deco just looks gorgeous. Alas, in my current living position I can't afford to "impulse buy" something that expensive, and as nice as he looks I still have my misgivings about MP-36 as a mold.

But there's no doubt, if I were in a position to make the "Megatron Shrine" I've always wanted he would definitely be on it.

Dang dude, I know the feeling of suddenly losing a lot from the savings, had that happen recently too. But glad to see you're still kicking and ready to get back on your feet!

If you do decide to go Dia-no-clone, feel free to reach out to me too dude.

I had that MP-36+ on pre-order, but ended up choosing MP-43 instead. Cobs showed him off a lot and I've enjoyed all the pics I've gotten to see of him!

Hoooookaayyyy

Jaki is casual with the Pub these days apparently. Sorry not sorry

It's been a rough couple of months, money has been super tight, and I still haven't been buying with much brain thought. I legit bought 400 bucks(ish?) worth of Studio Series figures and left them in the trunk of my car, thinking I might have to return them to like, feed myself. But things are slightly stable now (I know I'm keeping all the stuff) so I guess it's ok to share. So let's start with the Wave 1 Siege Leaders Shocky and Maggy. And my newest weirdo MP, Atmos#1!

Image

Oh man, thank you ChosenPrime for eventually stocking this convention exclusive G2 Screamer. Cause them aftermarket prices, barf
(still gotta get their G2 Jazz though *weeps*)

Image

SS Deluxes 23, and 26-30. And Seige Prowl/Metro-cronie.

Image

SS Voyagers 32, 33, 37, 38.

Image

A Siege lady and dude. Damn that Ironhide is being elusive...

Image

And finally SS-36 Drift and dino-babies.

Flipadelphia Shaj. Flipadelphia.

Glad things are smoothing out for you! I've only actually bought 2 figures for myself this year, and the third was party of my large sale/trade to TFL!!

Nice haul Shajaki!

How is your Drift? Mine has some loose hips and ill-fitting weapons.

And how about Rampage and the various Optimi?

Got my hands on another (this makes 4 now?) cancelled MP coin!

And why was it cancelled? Cause of the misprinted Maximal symbol on the packaging

Dude, you know how nice that mold is. If G2 is still available, go get it! If you're on the fence, then don't open him right away, and ebay him 8-)

2 things I don't like about him though. All his sticker designs are tampo'd on, EXCEPT for the insides of shoulder thingies. Those are actual stickers. Like... why everything but them? The other thing is I really feel they should have gone the extra mile and made his sound box thingy. Not with actual electronics, but just the box itself that could fit on his back. Wouldn't have taken much. But these two things are just MINOR nitpicks. I loves him :x

K... due to what others are saying about Siege Starscream and Soundwave, I feel I gotta weigh in. I'm not terribly active here these days, but I think the consensus is Soundwave is best boy and Screamer is meh correct? MAN do I ever have the opposite opinion.

Starscream is the new love of my life. He is SO posable. My lord. Standouts (as in uncommon on a standard figure IMO) double elbow joints, wrist swivel, ankles have tilt/forward/backward(!!!??), waist, and crazy deep knee curl. Waist swivel and ankle tilts seem to be standard in this line, but forward/backward on the ankle is a rare commodity that I'm overjoyed to see. He does have faults, but nothing that's a deal breaker by any means. The leg kibble in jet mode looks bad at certain angles but totally unnoticeable at others. The chest at the back of the jet, don't care. chest piece falling off in general doesn't even bug me because it's at least solid once you get him to either mode.

Just look at the poses!!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then there's Soundwave. Mine suffered from QC, but it's honestly not what's colored my opinion of him. His butt plate was missing its screw, and fell right off as soon as I opened him. Annoying, but an easy fix though with a screw borrowed from Megatron's butt (he had 3 but can get away with 2).

Image

So people are raving over Soundwave? .... why?
Ok look, I don't expect them to make his alt mode a lamppost, but a generic Cybertronian THING isn't any better. It barely resembles a ship. It's a brick with skis, some junk, and a tiny thing that's like "seriously, I'm a cockpit". I think I find this mode so offensive because it's not as if it's some sort of sacrifice for a third or fourth mode. Cause he can't do the tape deck thing without a 3P piece. And if you're going to tell me that the tape deck mode isn't important, then why go so far as to give him a functional chest door?

The best example of the "satisfy everyone" designs is Siege Shockwave. His base bot mode is perfect, his armored mode and Cybertronian thing mode are fine, but he can also perfectly pull off the G1 gun mode as well! I see nothing sacrificed with his design.

Not to mention, Soundy is missing a couple articulation points that Starscream has (wrists, and feet forward/backward tilt). But I don't mean to **** all over him, he's still pretty nice. Kinda like a miniature MP. But I don't find him nearly as impressive as Starscream.

Image

Image

I closing, Starscream is best boy. and Soundwave is meh

Shaj, you silly. I don't buy stuff anymore  Maybe someday I'll find something again to buy. Someday!! Just living with what I have for the time being.

Maybe that Redwing though, and Ectotron was already preordered so I guess that counts. And then I'll know the live you feel for Siege Starscream!!

I think Siege Starscream is pretty great, especially in bot mode. Just having legs hanging off the bottom is way better than most airplane bots with the entire robot hanging off the bottom, so upgrade I guess. I think a lot of the Siege opponents cannot see past their own made up expectations.

I like Soundwave a lot, but I'm also a fanboy of his. His alt modes are a little derp but I like the space freighter thing just fine and it fits for me as a cassettebot carrier. A cassette player mode would have been nice, but I'll take a lamp post and space freighter over him being just another space minivan.

My standards will be considered low by some, but I'm so happy with the Siege figures, they have all become my "default" CHUG representation of the characters.

Image
Remember kids, RIRFIB

The TR Frumble twins scale excellently with Soundwave. Siege Laserbeak is fighting hard with the MP as my fav and Ravage makes a good chest filler

I can't argue with you at all Shajaki, I did not and do not plan to pick up Wave or Starscream. Redwing is probably the one version of either mold I am for sure planning to buy.

Soooo... I've been awol since June 2019. I'm not even sure why really. I certainly haven't left the hobby, my TF collection is still going strong. Life has definitely thrown me some curve balls, but I don't think "the struggles" influenced me. Maybe indirectly? Iunno...

There's been some family drama that I won't get into, aside from my elderly mother moving in and me supporting her. I lost my best old boy Kingston (almost made it to the age of 14) which was tougher than I care to admit. I've been in a serious relationship with many ups and downs, but there's a lot of love there. I had a falling out with my BFF and kinda lost my peer group since highschool. And more recently, I have kinda been going through hell at work. All these things have honestly taken a toll and I've just kinda just been taking life day by day. My health and my home have been suffering as a result. Let's just say "The Shack" has seen better days.

And not that I want to be all doom and gloom, but I'm not sure I've started venturing out of the woods yet. There's some very stressful work things up in the air, but if they go my way (paid stress leave) then I'll have some much needed repair time.

I'll end this update on some good notes though. My other puppy Bucky (christ, is 7 now) is doing well, still a fluffy goofball. I'm still finding enjoyment in my toys and other collectibles (Kingdom Cyclonus anyone?). I game a lot these days on my Switch which is fun. The GF loves me for some reason. Some days its easy to forget, but there's still reasons to get out of bed.
