but then it wouldn't be masterpiece lol. plus, isn't the device label soundwave a voyager sized figure? i would say that he is your best bet to fit in your classics-generations collection.

i'm psyched.

all we need is for takara to produce a brand new megatron. something that's in scale with everyone else.

Device Label Soundwave isn't Voyager sized but fits in sweet with Classics. He looks awesome with his metallic paint, which would blend right in against the paint app stylings of United? :D

Back on topic, the earlier prototype seems much more in size, more G1 in styling?
Shouldn't our logical friend be slightly shorter than the seekers? :???:
Ref the finer detailing of the second prototype, will we loose some of that once it comes to the mold and paint apps? :-?

For now my KO oversized G1 Soundwave fits in with my other Masterpieces... >:oP

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the info on MP Soundwave is good, comes from the same source that told us about the last MPs starting with Rodimus.

There's still plenty of time for that to get cancelled... :-(

Whatever the pricing maybe its cheaper than getting a custom one done. (I've seriously thought about it some of the gen 1 soundwave customs that have been done look amazing)

Fans projects continues to give the people what they want at high quality. I love you Fans project. This will be a great year for decepticons!. Not only will I be getting a huge Shockwave to go with my mp's I will have a Soundwave now!

Wishful thinking is while these are coming out Takara can tackle all the problems with their mp megatrons and make a solid figure! (or release a mp Galvatron which Im soooo ok with)

On a final note I saw pics of cassettes will they be included you think?

If he comes with cassettes, I'm all in. It's the only scale makes the chest work (without lying to yourself). Sonicron is not producing rocking in or around the sockular region.

I officially want this more than Make Toys Giant. I was going to save up for Giant, but now I know what I must buy. I've been waiting for a MP Soundwave ever since the first MP Prime.

If you absolutely MUST have a classics-sized Soundwave that can hold G1 cassettes, then Sonicron is decent. Although ... I wouldn't pay over $30 for him.

But this looks like it blows that one right out of the water. However, if there's an official MP Soundwave coming out, I kind of want to wait for that. If only to get this at a discounted price.

The REAL test is whether he can fit Classics Ravage in there. Thanks to the tail he's pretty tough to fit in new TF players.

They appear to be working on their own MP-esque Ravage for this, as well as Rumble and Frenzy, so that should compensate for any issues.

Yeah, but it'd be a let-down if it couldn't fit *all* the official cassettes so far. Take Sonicron as a perfect example. That guy has nibs in him that prevent some cassettes from being used due to their holes being in a different spot than the G1 originals. Namely both Autoscouts, Classics Ravage, and, I believe, some of the US released combining cassettes (if not all of them).

IMHO, it's a small thing, but one that adds a lot. But with this guy I'm not *too* worried. After all, they showed Classics Ravage and TGW's Autoscout so they had to have tested with them ... right?

If Takara is actually doing MP Soundwave, then I suppose that might be worth waiting. At least it might be more easily available and even cheaper (though not that likely). But it is actually funny how HasTak has chosen this reactive strategy instead being proactive. That just isn't very good strategy in a long run. Or they could make even more money, if they would actually be the first ones to publish things like this. Cos I suspect that those of you who wanted Sunstorm for example, already bought the igear version. Even if some of you would buy several versions of the same character, when Takara releases their version, markets may already be saturated. It just seems that 3rd party manufacturers are many steps ahead of Takara and Hasbro. Models like these are rather expensive. So people are likely going to be more reluctant to buy another almost similar expensive toy, if they already have one, whether it is official or not.

Ummm.....I'm sorry, I need this statement clarified. You're sick of the characters most defining and popular feature being implemented into his figures? Wouldn't that be like saying "I'm sick of the Constructicons always being construction vehicles..."?

:HEADHURTS:[/quote]
No, what he means is that he's sick of them being designed to hold G1 cassettes, as in the original G1 cassettes.
Make a new, modern, better looking Classics figure that's sleeker that does not hold G1 cassettes and give him his own new mold Classics Cassettes.

Because sacraficing engeneering and the look of a toy in favour of backwards compatibility to old toys is like making brandnew Constructicons with awesome designs and articulation, but without any parts to combine them to Devastator, because why do that if you can just use all the parts from G1 Devastator.

I'd pay masterpiece money for a voyager if it was this cool looking. But...I don't really have MPs. They're cool and all, but too big for me to get many characters, as I mostly have deluxes. I'd prefer the larger toys to be of the larger characters.

That said, this does look awesome. If it's reasonable, I might bite. Either way the Cassettes look very impressive. If those tapes were G1 size, I'd buy them for my Reissue SW in a heartbeat.

Thanks for clarifying. I would not have taken that from his comment thought without your explanation. I agree, I would love to see new cassettes, that's why, even though BTS's cassettes aren't the greatest looking designs, I still want them just for updates. Universe Ravage remains my favorite figure released in the entire Universe/Classics line, despite his lack of ankle joints, so that says something.

Takara/Hasbro probably have several Masterpieces in the works or in the pipeline. And I bet that Soundwave is one of them. Takara/Hasbro may be juggling their releases as 3rd party equivalents start to appear. I believe Takara had stated in an interview that they don't want to release Masterpieces too close to each other because of their significant costs.

I see that it has nice MP-01 shoulders, but I'm not sure if it sports waist articulation... The old version did.

Yeah, the only reason we still do it is because the gimmick has overshadowed the disguise aspect long ago. Unless you are or know an audiophile, people these days look at cassettes the way my generation looked at records in the best of cases.

There's no reason toy devs couldn't redefine Soundwave and the cassettes to a much more fitting scale. In fact, seeing as BTS is making their own cassettes, Sonicron SHOULD have been done with that in mind from the beginning.

Shoot, it probably wouldn't be hard to make "pods" or something work with WFC Soundwave...
Say, Perfect Effect, you doing anything after your motobots?

Yeah, okay, I get that. There seems to be a unanimous decision on Tak/Has's part to eliminate Objectformers though, so I'm not holding my breath for anything. (I.e. Perceptor, Rumble/Frenzy, etc....)

I did like the Shapeways' Rumble and Fenzy that were made, but obviously that a figure that small is a legal liability that no big company would look at through a telescope, so...I think FOC Soundwave should be something the revisit. Keep the truck mode if they want, but have him come with a cassette character, in the form of something else, and then sell the rest in a 2-4 pack.

Right? Wouldn't you guys want that? I know I would. I love my BTS Soundwave, but his bottom half is kinda sad looking, and I would love a better option.

(Though I love that he's a personal recorder...so awesomeness. Thanks Guido for the design!!)

Courtesy of new to the market third-party company Fans Toys we have some additional prototype images of their Soundwave homage, FT-02 Acoustic Wave. You'll notice there two separate prototypes shown, the smaller one is the original, the larger one features modifications that were suggested by fans. According to Fans Toys we can expect pre-orders in April or May. As you can see the figure will be approximately Masterpiece scale.

Oh look, it's World's Smallest Soundwave. He's official, didn't stray far from the original engineering, and CAME WITH AN INSANELY TINY RAVAGE...

See, SEE! Smaller Bot, Smaller Cassettes! It's Not THAT HARD :BOOM:

I'm still not comfortable with his sheer height among my classics, but I guess I can put up with it.
