Another splendid review from Optibotimus. You were right about the angle of the wings being off. They do angle up ever-so slightly at the dog-tooth.

Those hip joints made me cringe. How have they done the exact same thing that was such a major concern with Heavy Labor? I really like the looks of this set, but I'm not sold significantly enough to be front and centre with pre-orders at premium prices.

EDIT: Just looked over the photos of Harrier and Falcon and it shows why they left them to be the last revealed. The two smallest aircraft models in the group have suffered being upscaled to match the others. 16 looks like Hercules has stepped on him and Harrier appears to have been at the pies. The robot modes look suitably boss and surprisingly different from their right side of the body counterparts.

Anyone feel free to tell me I'm wrong (I get quite confused with the Harrier has they have a habit of making significant changes but keep the same designation) but isn't that model actually the FRS Mk.1?

All the individual bots look great... but sadly, I think that's all this project has going for it.

Not too impressed with the plane-modes... and that combined mode looks awful. Face looks too cartoony, his crotch-plate is up way to high at his waist, arms are ridiculously beefy (he's almost as wide as he is tall!!) and that chest-shield does not match the aesthetic of the rest of him at all. To top it all off, he makes Hercules look like a shimp, which isn't right.

Too much effort was put into this by TFC to just end up with such wonky proportions... I find it very odd. I envision a lot of add-on sets for this guy to make it look better.

Might pick up a bot or two (I like Eagle a lot)... but that's about all I think I'll invest in this.

I'm always ready to tell people they are wrong. ;)

In actuality, I don't think you are far off. I've been looking at the photos and comparing them to online photos of the AV-8B (which the US Marines use, among others) and the FRS.1 Sea Harrier by the British. The main characteristic from the FRS.1 evident here is the refuel probe on the front. However, the FRS.1 has the wing landing gear further out near the tip of the wings. The AV-8B has the wing landing gear about midway on the wing, as does the Sea Harrier II GR5, GR7, and GR9. This prototype has the wing landing gear in this config. It is amazing the number of subtle variances in all the Harriers that have been produced. It doesn't appear any of the Harrier II craft have the refueling probe evident in this prototype, so it depends on what is the most important visual cue for you.

I would also like to see accurate wing positions in the pics. The Harrier's anhedral wing angle is not shown in the photos. (Anhedral means the wingtips are lower than where the wing connects to the fuselage.) As mentioned before, it's nice to see the dihedral bend to the F4 wings is possible. I imagine the anhedral position of the Harrier wings is also possible.

I am terribly disappointed in the Falcon. Maybe some good paint apps would help. The wing position looks too high; it's more of a mid mount. The cockpit should be elevated more. However, I recognize the difficulties in engineering an accurate Falcon alt mode as compared to the others, especially given how the kibble has to hang below the wingline.

This is a tough decision for me. It would be hard to justify just buying a couple of these and not the complete set. I love the F15 and Harrier, provided the wing angle can be fixed. But money might just get tighter coming up and other projects have my eye...

(P.S. Thanks, Sodan-1 for prompting another aircraft geekout. :D)

I'm a little upset that the arms are basically just slight remolds of each other... However, that should mean that we get the complete Uranos rather quickly...

I cant wait to get my first piece of Uranus !!! I really like the way Slingshot looks. I do expect alot of add ons to make this set more G1 cartoon accurate, and Im all for it. Chest piece, head etc. Or even better, a re-shell of Silverbolt as a concorde by another company. I would buy that in an instant.

Does anyone know when F-4 Phantom will be released from TF Source? I feel that they are the only ones not to get Phantom yet!!

The Real question is, will someone find a stand that will be able to support Uranos weight in flight mode?

I bet there will at least be..

LED head replacement.
Chest shield
G1 accurate gun.

TFC "Corrected" Concorde figure.

I'm expecting, nay, counting on a head replacement.

I'm not loving the noggin on this one, not really hating either, but I want it replaced.
If history is anything to go by, I'll have choices.

Also does anyone know when F-15 Eagle will be released? Also do we know when F-16 Falcon and AV-88 Harrier II will be available for pre order, and how much they will cost?

Somehow... I fully expected something like this.

No offense to any TFC supporters, but this is a big reason why I shy away from their products.

Can someone do a pictorial review of this fix ? One that shows the gears and shows the pannels for more than a split second ? I remember having to take apart Heavy Labor to grease the hips. It was a little intimadating. The video kind of helps, but he doesnt show the gears. And he flashes where you pry off the plastic pieces to reveal the screws so quickly. I dont have the figure in hand yet but I want to be prepared when I ship my pile of loot. Thanks in advance for anybody who can help.

Seriously? One of their figures needs lube? God damn it, TFC.

Just another reason for me to stick with FP upgraded RotF Superion, I guess.

I dunno. It's just not blowing me away like I thought it would or indeed how Hercules did. The chest area looks very plain and uninteresting compared to the arms and legs.

I agree with this too. I was excited for Herc as I didn't have that neo-classics Devestator. With Superion, I already have the FP add-on. I would have rather seen something that didn't exist yet, like Menasor, Predaking, Computron or Defensor.

I know there are a few that don't like the head and chest off Uranos. As far as the head goes, that's no different than many others and a replacement will become available at some point.

The chest is another matter, but I like it. I've been comparing G1 Silverbolt and Superion to the TFC version and like how they are "evolving" him.

G1 Silverbolt with his plain, boring chest.
Image

G1 Superion.
Image

I like how TFC Silverbolt uses a G1 Superion inspired chest, it really works.
Image

Then Uranos has an all new (modern?) chest that clearly takes its cues from Superion. For me it just works, but I have liked the look of TFC Silverbolt's gestalt mode from the start.

Then there is this image that shows the chest transformed slightly differently suggesting that the other images have him miss-transformed.
Image
The difference is so minor that anyone who doesn't like the look still won't, but just thought I'd mention it.

i'm not complaining about anything, i think this set of figures just looks fantastic. maybe there might be some problems with the hips, but if it's really serious then i wouldn't be surprised if they start throwing replacement parts in without extra charge.
since all the limb figures are pretty much the same in their basic transformation, they've got ample opportunity to perfect them

I was already decided against another $500ish gestalt. That torso figure just strengthens my resolve. something better could have been done there. Even if it involved parts forming. All combiners utilize it. It would have only helped here.
