NEXT!
You say that about everything by Toyworld or Toyworld related. You're worse than me, because I always reach the point that I actually stop posting unfounded negative crap whenever someone shows up that's somehow related to something I hate for a reason.
And your complaints are less valid than the times I hate on something, because the stuff you're hating on here is really good.
The head looks a lot like the Voyager Classics Prime head, very nice.
It's an extremely generic looking Prime head on an extremely awful looking prime body. It's like putting mayonnaise on a turd, it doesn't taste any better and your not fooling anyone. >:oP
No it's not. That Optimus design was a hit in the fandom when it first showed up in the comics, since it's like a mix between Movie and G1. They executed it quite well, not perfectly, but better than what I expected it to look like in toyform.
The head is also perfect, since it' very much like the Classics Voyager head, just with a better face. Not only does it fit perfectly with the figure, it also fits perfectly due to the fact that the design is somewhat inspired by Voyager Classics Prime.
What did you expect the head to look like? Megatron?.
That's just the thing, I do like the design from the comics, and in fact it's my absolute favorite design for Optimus Prime to date, so when I first heard Toyworld was going to tackle that design I was ecstatic. This execution in plastic however is
mortifying, and I refuse to believe this is the best that could be done with it as I have seen scratch builds and super deformed figures more faithful than this junk, and at this point I think I'll be going down that path myself before giving Toyworld any slack.
What those do however is not transform into the truck. This version suffers because it transforms into the truck mode, all others do not, or turn into a halfassed truck (like the SD versions). This is what happens when you take one of Don's designs and try to turn it into a toy.
It's not a perfect representation, its proportions are too short for instance, but it's the best that'S currently possible, and still keep a faithful truck-mode.
The head really doesn't remind me of classics prime at all, and I should know since it's still standing loud and proud at the front of my Classics shelf. All I see is a slightly altered MP prime head, which is about as generic as it gets for me.
Well, then you should look at it again, Classics Prime is one of my fave molds and I recognize a homage to it when I see it.
The head is pretty much the same, just larger, more detailing, with a more MPish faceplate. In other words, it an improved version of Classics Prime'S head.
