Just by looking at it, I know already I can't afford it. :-(

This will be the same price as the botcon figure in the aftermarket, and more widely available.

Methinks I'll be getting this one.

If I hadn't already secured the Botcon figure, I'd be all over this.

I'm getting the Botcon figure too but which do you think will be better?

What a way to drop the F-bomb on everybody who just committed to the botcon figure. They couldnt have put out this teaser a week earlier ? Anyways, Ill buy it, but knowing Perfect Effect, this thing will Probably break down and parts-form into 2 tanks and 10 guns. Dont expect a base mode unless its fan made or with a 4th party add on set.

I think I'll enjoy the botcon figure more than this. As nice as PE stuff is, I don't think I've really enjoy transforming any of them. (ESP those PE bikes)

Didn't secure a Botcon figure, so I'm glad they made this. I have the black Energon version of Scorpinok and I gotta say, while I'm happy with it and all it does have it's limitations as a mould.

Gotta wonder which will be more expensive, though.

This was my reasoning as well.

I'll try to get this. It can't be too overly hard for this to form the Scorpion mode.

Judging by the Pics of FE Scorponk next to FE Fort Max. FE Scorponk might be a Leader scale toy.

I'm going to think the botcon figure. I mean I know we don't care cause we collect third party stuff, but it being an official product is kind of a big deal to a lot of people.

Also we have

TGping @ TFW2005 claiming PE stole his work.

I hope that this guy isn't based off my artwork like the silhouette is
Image

Yeah they at least changed the shoulder guns and added treads, but everything else is just a blacked in version of my art.

Not cool

And posting a link to DA so you can see the time stamp on it:
http://tgping.deviantart.com/art/Scorponok-Apeface-and-Snapdragon-354352121

Which also means they don't have a 3D model or original concept to back up their silhouette I'm guessing.

Kind of Shady of PE

So the claim is: a blacked out silhouette of a character kinda looks like his artwork of the same character. They have similarities, yes, but calling it a rip off may be a stretch.

yea that's the claim, but look at the position of the legs and the arms. It's almost like taking that art piece and making into the silhouette. Also if this is true it might mean that it'll be a while before this comes out.

Another opportunity for PE to screw up an otherwise great concept by making it a parts-forming lump of nothingness.

NEXT!

I think so, too. Going by just the Botcon FB page, there's a bunch people who bought the Iacon package just for Scorpy.

Id be flattered if they used my work, in the same fashion that I used Hasbro's. The internet has no boundaries. Without it, his fanbase would be very limited. Not looking to start arguments here. Just my opinion.

I'd be more flattered if I was paid.

That said, it may only be a loose interpretation. The head's certainly different. And they're both based off the same source material. It could be they used this art as reference or it could be something of a coincidence.

Like he paid Hasbro ?

Im curious what those big things on his back are in the PE teaser ? The fan art doesn't sport them. They look like (ugh) tank treads...

There's a fair difference between making fan art and then someone else turning around and making money OFF that fan art without giving you anything for it.

I don't mind David beating Goliath, but I don't really like it when David decided to steal from a smaller David.

Edit: again, though, that may not be the case. They're both based off Scorpinok, so it could all turn out to be very, very different. And there's a difference between making very nice art and a transformable toy.

I could see how you feel that way, but does it work on all levels? I mean what if you write an article and put it out on the internet with you name on it and when it's written and than NY Times or whatever paper takes it and pass it off as theirs with out your permission or credit you in anyway. sure the subject of your article could be or something anyone can talk about but what you written is still unique and it's stolen. Would you be proud that NYtimes took your article? or angry that they did without letting the world knows of what you did?

Are you guys speculating this will break up into parts that will fit on the 1987 scorponok toy? I don't think this will happen.

This PE Scorponk toy is not a Supplemental figure like PE warden was.

PE Scorponok is a 1987 G-1 homage sculpt not a IDW Homage sculpt like PE Warden was. I presume PE Scorponok will likely transform from robot to Scorpion to base modes. As it's got nothing else to do,in regards to not mixing with the 1987 scorponok toy version.

The PE Scorp toy is it's own think,it's not being created to role play with the PE warden toy. If that was the case both toys would be the same scale. both toys would have the same alternate universe sculpted design.
