Y'know what? I'm done with this discussion. Back to talking about the picture.
This Astrotrain looks pretty cool. It looks to keep many of the cues from G1 Astrotrain, but with better articulation, which is what we could expect from 3Ps today. The shuttle mode actually looks the weakest of the three. It's a little boxy around where the bay doors would be. I'd guess this has to do with making the locomotive mode look good, though either the shuttle "bay" would be on the bottom of the locomotive or they could use the boiler of the locomotive to create the rounded bay look. At any rate, though I am satisfied with Classics Astrotrain, I will keep an eye on this one. Who knows? If it's cheap enough, I'd probably bite. I love me some trains, and this looks better to me with the tender than the naked locomotive of G1.
Think the coal hopper is a bad idea because Astrotrain doesn't use coal to power himself up. Having the Coal hopper tender is useless for Astrotrain as it makes his train mode longer, less manuaverable and slows him down. Hoping it's a detachable piece, So I can toss it in the garbage.
What's the point in adding a Coal hopper when Astrotrain was just a locomotive in the 1985 toy line and Fiction. Might as well just add more useless pieces like extra train cars, Train Tracks, Stop lights, Flags and Turn signals. Then place everything in a gift box and put a $300 price tag on this.
Thought the 1.0 Astrotrain toy was one of the worse of the 1.0 toy line. So, I think another toy version needs to get made. If I had my way HasTak would be creating Masterpiece Eight to Nine inch toys for Astrotrain and Blitzwing.
