BBTS is selling D.A.I Commander for for $25 less than Cizen stacks. Don't know if this is a temp early pre-order price or a perm price.

I'm morbidly amazed that the best name that they could come up with is, "Let's steal the name that Fansproject came up with for their similar recolor of a third party Ultra Magnus product, and just put 'Stacks' on the end!"

D.I.A. Commander Stacks? Seriously? Not sure if I should Image or Image.

Guess I'll settle for >:oP.

hmmm... I wonder if there is a third party company that repaints it's modes more than KFC. (serious question)

Xtransbot Huffer into Pipes and Road Ranger.
MMC Sixshot into the two repaints (but does this really count as one was almost prototype releases...?)
And pretty much any company that did some seekers like Impossible Toys Tetra-Jets.

Those are the only ones that comes off the top of my head as being more than one repaint of a single character. There are probably others. Many companies have done just one repaint...

I know, I'm just wondering which company (third party) has a repaint of every figure they release (I Know Tempest hasn't been repainted yet but give it time)?
Perfect effect comes to mind right now I think? hmm...

Ah, I got ya. Indeed, PE has done much the same thing. It actually makes a lot of business sense. The design process is long and expensive, and molds are not cheap either. If only by changing the mold colors a new figure can be made, and fans will actually buy it, it can help a 3P company stay afloat.

Now, if crappy QC follows all repaints... #-o

This would be interesting just because it would be a bit different from the MP-22 version.

I mean as a character it might be cool for them to be different physically, and not just as repaints. Thus trying to come up with a reason to get this mold.

I completely expect the MP-22 repaint to happen :)

I searched "DAI" instead of "D.A.I." since that was how it was listed on BBTS, I also searched KFC and stack but I guess I didn't scroll down results enough. Oh well, please merge, thanks.

I received this guy in the mail last week (found him on sale for $135) and finally had some time to fiddle around with him. My decision to get DAI instead of Citizen Stack is because I wanted something a bit different and I had the preconception that Citizen Stack would not fit well in either my Classics or MP collection.

Let's start with product itself. The plastic quality on this guy is good, and there is also solid ratcheting. Could use a few more paint apps (or stickers) for details, but the molded plastic coloring is quite nice. The chrome on the cab's grill is a nice touch as well. He comes with two shoulder rocket launchers and a rifle, not a whole lot of frills.

Transforming him was relatively easy. The only points of frustration I have are:
- a hinge near his neck that pulls the head towards the cab and it is too thin. I already have a stress mark on it and will need to dry to blow dry it away
- there are hinged panels on each side of this chest that go 90 degrees and are supposed to stay in robot mode by friction. One side is loose, the other is fine. I can try to use some floor polish on the loose one, but it would've been nice to have a tab here to keep the pieces where they belong.

This figure is hefty, but not very heavy. That's probably for the best, because he's already taken a fall off my bed while I was transforming him. I like the masked face compared to the unmasked face. Proportionally, he looks great!

Now, where to put him? He looks nice next to the original MP Optimus and Megatron, he even looks nice next to MP Rodimus. Other than that, if I keep him in bot mode he'll need to be in a standalone display. I don't like him next to the MP cars, he towers over them. Speaking of towering over figures, DO NOT put this in your Classics display. He's roughly the size of a FP/MakeToys combiner. If this were a character like Tidal Wave, then it would be awesome. But since he's not, let's move on.

Overall, I'm alright with the purchase. This goes more along the lines of Ultra Magnus/Powered OP not being a favorite of mine than it is about the product itself. But I'm glad to see that KFC was able to put a bit more into their releases and not have me worry about breaking him when I glare at him funny or sneeze.

If you have any questions about the figure, please ask. And speaking of KFC releases, I also got Surgeon in the same shipment and will talk about him in another thread.

Read your review, Glad you love the toy.

I'm Also a owner of this toy and I think it's epic awesome. Had the toy for months on my display shelf and it's a top notch high quality product.

Didn't like the original heads and face. So I Opted to buy the SXS replacements heads kit.

Saw pics of the HasTak MP Ultra Magnus toy. Gotta Say, Think KFC did the better sculpting job. As KFC's version looked more streamlined and the back of the robot mode looks better.

The missing under cover underneath the white cab on the KFC UM toy. The HasTak MP UM has the same missing cover. But their is a UM big head showing under the HasTak MP UM white cab.

Plan to buy the HasTak MP UM toy also. As i'm a big Ultra Magnus character toy fan. But i'll probably consider the KFC UM toy as the superior version.
