im honestly not sure to think of this. this fixes the main complaint with MP08. but... if takara plans to continue with their own MP dinobots they would do one of two things:
-theyd make them to scale with the original MP08, making this KO moot.
-theyd make a brand new MP grim (like they did with prime to rescale the line) and continue from there.
the flipside is, those who are going the 3P route with their MP dinobots, theres like 2 or 3 companies doing them now right? i havent been following them that closely (as i have no plans to buy MP 3P's) but wont they be making their own MP grims? and arent the 3P MP dinos all scaled with MP10 (being taller than MP08)? so... wouldnt it be better to buy a brand new sculpt as opposed a resized KO?
to me theres a whole lot of negatives. IMO, this isnt a route id choose.

I'm not sure a new, official version of MP Grimlock is forthcoming. At least not soon. Otherwise, why would we be seeing so many resissues? Between the 30th anniversary reissue, the Cybertron Con exclusive, the TRU exclusive, and the King Grimlock reissue, they've really been milking the original mold.

No thank you, It defeats the purpose of a KO. If the price is the same or more than the officially licensed release. Regardless if the KO is bigger or ? than the licensed version.

If they plan an upsized KO, I'd prefer THS-02 or Robot masters Starsaber (Okay, moot and academic with MP-23 coming)

In agreeance, Give me a upsized KO, I actually want. Like doing Ultra scaled KO versions of Generations Cyclonus, Scourge and Galvatron. Or upsizing Titanium Six inch Rodimus Prime to Leader scale.

http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/upscaled-ko-grimlock-t101043.phpAppears to be the same figure, not to be confused with the WuKong KO MP-08 released earlier.
We need 20cc of

im not saying theres a new MP grim coming down the pipe... BUT...
MP01 was reissued as a "final" edition right before they teased MP10. which was really kind of a big middle finger to us, but i digress. personally i think its way to soon for a new grim, but theyre trying to get a lot of use out the mold lately, grim is hot off the trails of AOE, so... you never know.

Ugh. Staying the hell away from KOs. Nasty things. Also seems kinda pointless- MP Grimlock is pretty much perfect as is.

Just wondering, anyone in on this? The more I see it (which is a lot on Daimchoc) the more I like it. My main issue though would be, that the gold chrome on him and the would be 3P dino's accompanying him absolutely HAVE to match.

Just tryin to keep it real
I'm surprised no one else is talking about this, I see new galleries on Daimchoc almost every day lately. But after thinking about it.. its suuuch an investment. I'm betting he's around 200, and then I'm in for all the 3P MP dino's. If I did that and then Takara pulled the trigger on their own dino's, I would be kicking myself incredibly hard.
So....

Yeah, there seems to be less discussion in the 3P forum these days. I don't know if it is fatigue, a lack of interest in 3P Masterpiece, or just that Has/Tak is putting out so much awesome that there is not enough money to put into these projects.
I know I'm running out of room, and with some really awesome legends sized 3P figures, I'm thinking of adjusting my collection... But going MP would be really difficult for my displays.
This does look pretty awesome, though....

All this describes me. The Unite Warriors line killed my budget for anything not-Unite Warriors.
Plus, I don't collect MPs, 3P or otherwise (except certain characters). It's pretty boring to say that though, and I usually don't comment on stuff I don't have any interest in buying.
Well, to justify my comment, I'll say that the upsized version here certainly looks pretty cool. But Fanstoys just announced their own take on MP Grimmy and if I was collecting MP Dinos, I'd have probably gone with FT's take, and so, have gotten their MP Grimmy over this one.
Plus, I already have MP Grimmy. Owning the exact same thing, but bigger is a game I play when there's not much out there I want. And if I were collecting MP Dinos I'd want something slightly different than what I already have, so FT would win on that front too.

Myself I'll collect basically anything that I like that isn't an actual KO. The thing that stops me collecting more 3P stuff is lack of space and funds, which is stopping me collecting more official stuff too, amusingly enough. I certainly hope 3P never actually "dies" as I think a bit of competition in the market is healthy and forces HasTak to up their game, at least with regards to collectors/adult fans.
With regards to the "ethics" of 3rd party stuff, I tend to view 3rd party Transformers as, effectively, engineering fanart- all the work that goes into producing it is original effort, it's just patterned after something that already exists. I do agree that some 3P stuff is skirting the line a bit (Planet X's work for example- as much as I love 'em, their product looks RIDICULOUSLY close to the actual game models, though admittedly most of those were never designed to work in real life so there's still a lot of original effort going into it) and I do prefer 3Ps that put an original spin on the designs they homage rather than just up and copying them wholesale. Certain types of 3P product though are in my opinion totally and unquestionably justifiable- upgrade kits for example, which are designed to make an existing toy better and thus are if anything increasing sales of official product.
HasTak are very lucky to have sole ownership over the Transformers IP with regards to making transforming toys (although probably because Transformers was a toyline to begin with and a cartoon series second)- if Transformers were just an IP and Hasbro were just one of many companies able to make "official" transformers they'd be soundly thrashed, at least in the collector's market. Imagine if Sen-Ti-Nel put their engineering genius into making Transformers that actually transformed? Or if Bandai produced a Soul of Chogokin Optimus Prime and Seeker model kits? HasTak wouldn't last 5 minutes.
That said I am extremely against actual knockoffs/bootlegs such as this. Toy design is extremely difficult work and flat-out stealing other people's hard work and selling it as their own is just not cool. I might buy a KO for spare parts or for custom work (I have considered buying some of the KO MP cassettes on eBay for making into new characters as they're so cheap) but I would never buy a KO in place of the real deal.
TLDR: 3Ps are good for the market, good for collectors and in some ways good for HasTak and I would never want to see them go away.
Topic: It's funny, because this is more or less exactly what I'd want to see out of a Grimlock 2.0 (as IMO MP Grimlock is perfect, size and LED hand aside) but even if I were in the market for MP Dinobots at the moment I still wouldn't buy this, because A: I don't buy bootlegs except in very specific circumstances (see above) and B: I have a horrible feeling it'll just collapse into shards of carcinogenic plastic.

I've seen a lot of pictures about this figure as well, but I think it's just centric to a certain part of collectors. What kills this release for me is that it's the comic-accurate paint scheme, meaning he doesn't fit in aesthetically into my MP Dino collection. But the size increase was much needed.
Speaking of MP Dinos, just as Gauntlet mentioned, FT has finally shown prototypes of their Grimlock. Sure he's over a year away from being released, but that's fine with me. I'm still anxiously awaiting FT Sludge to release. Moon boots Grimlock will have to do for now.

I've been thinking a lot about this guy lately since the cartoon color is coming out. Quite tempting, but really though, the only way I'd get serious and buy this guy is if he had the MP08X dinoskin (re: shiny) with the MP08 bot mode components (head, fists, thighs). Add better articulated hands (I'm ok with losing the lights) and that would be perfect. I really don't think I wouldn't be able to buy one.

I all but forgot about him. Getting him, then MP'ing up the rest of the Dinobot roster with 3P's would cost waaayyy too much right now. Purchases like that have to come after regular CW releases, MP's, and UW figures. And after them, I'd really rather finish off my TFC Predaking.

He's so pretty.
I really haven't been this excited about a Transformer in a while. Maybe it was the anticipation and fear of a bad product, only to have all of those fears washed away in the gloriousness that is Reximus Prime!
