O_O MMC is getting into MP? (I seem to remember something about this between the LOLs in that one interview.) I'd like to watch this one develop, but I'm pretty sure it'll be too big/expensive for my collection...

The pic says a 5.5 inch long Alt mode with a 6.5 inch tall robot mode. Which I can only presume translates to a Deluxe car mode that Transforms into a skinny stretched out BM Cheetor- Lockdown looking Voyager scale robot mode. :-?

No thanks, I've already got a HasTak 1.0 Mirage toy that has a stretched out, long skinny legs, female looking robot mode. Don't need to pay 3rd party prices for another one.

I'll be buying the DX9 Mirage toy, As it has the bulkier robot mode, I seek.

while i like the idea of this, i won't be getting it.
for my MP collection, i prefer takara figures.
i am on the FT dinobots boat, but that's because i don't see takara doing a full group of properly large dinobots anytime soon.
mirage, being an autobot car on the other hand.......

:BANG_HEAD: The pic says this toy will be getting released on, Q1 2015. Which basically translates into MMC pushed back the releases on other planned MMC toys, To get this released ahead of schedule. :-(

My understanding is that the MMC mastepiece line is being done in tandem with their other line, so it might note delay things.

Heh, MMC always pushes back their releases if there're QC issues, new toy or not.

why 3P why....

takaras primary focus on MP's right now is obviously the G1 cars. why bother? give us things that they wont do, or at least is really low on their list!

I say this with utmost sincerity: bring on the preorders!!!

I love this design and think he looks a lot better than the DX9 offering. Will need to see some actual product images to figure out where he will go on the shelf. Reading that this line (which I guess has now been labeled "Perfection") will cater to the Studio Ox designs, it won't necessarily be competing for room on an MP shelf. But we'll see where this goes.

Also wanted to comment to the people speculating about release dates. The only MMC figures we know of that had "set" release dates besides the Predacons were the Fembots, and we're finally getting to that. I don't think we know enough about MMC's business plans (obviously, since Sphinx hit us blindsided) to really understand where the release timeline falls, because they could very well sprinkle in some of the DJD, Nova, and Sphinx before finishing the Fems.

I bought FP not Broadside and Springer because, there was no Springer. Wish 3rd P would do the same as well.......create items Tomy/Hasbro isn't willing to make.

i bought defender as well, because with all the half assed attempts hasbro had at springer i felt that thats all springer would be to them: repaint fodder. boy was i wrong  . i do still plan to get FP's broadside though...

Yeah, but how many years did you have to wait from Defender to the release of Generations Springer? Without even knowing that this Springer was in the works. That would be like me complaining that I purchased iGears Van brothers if/when Takara announces MP Ironhide/Ratchet. Because I've had the van brothers for years and LOVE them in my collection. Honestly, they fit in either Classics or MP displays. Defender sits well in a Wreckers display with the other FP Warbots, and I can just choose to give him a different name now that we have a fitting Springer for Generations.

The same might go for Sphinx. Not that I've been awaiting a chance to replace my Classics Mirage, because I do like him and the fun engineering used for that particular mold. Wish I would've picked up the Crasher repaint all those years ago.

With the way the MP line is now going, I believe it's only a matter of time before we get an official Mirage. I want this Sphinx because I trust the quality of MMC and I think I'll be very pleased with the final product.

3 problems I have with this:

1.) They take way too long getting their stuff out.
2.) No good picture of the robot mode to make a decision with.
3.) Their prices are among the highest in the 3rd party market.

If they can make all 3 things awesome, I'm on board.

But we've been getting quality products from MMC for a few years now. Besides, let's just attribute this to growing pains. With such a full schedule of figures they've been announcing, I'm inclined to think that we're going to see more normal release times.

Autobot032 wrote:2.) No good picture of the robot mode to make a decision with.

But this is just a teaser to get the interest going. I think we'll get more details and pictures of bot mode before the pre-orders go up.

I would disagree. Individual Feralcons are huge voyager figures and you could've gotten on the early bird discounts to buy them cheaper than the TFC combiner guys or Warbotron figures. Hexatron is HUGE and articulate, yet only costs about $130 - 140. These fembots are going for $60/ea; or you could go for Perfect Effect versions between $90 - 100 or the one iGear sold a few years back for $120. I'm not going to estimate how much Sphinx will go for, but I'd wager it will be at a price I can agree with.

If this guy clocks in as "tall deluxe" I may cancel that other Mirage.

I like MMCs stuff pretty well.

while i agree with this, some things are impossible to predict. as mentioned above, i had reasons to doubt hasbros commitment to the springer character, so i went with defender. which was actually a reissue, so i had actually waited some time after defenders original release. and for me, once a figure is "replaced", the original is now useless. defender now sits in a box somewhere.

No, not contradictory. I want an official MP Mirage (which will come at some point) AND I want Sphinx because MMC has a good track record and offers a great value, IMO. If and when both MP and Sphinx are in my collection, if Sphinx is in my MP display I will just have to move him elsewheres. Until that time, I will enjoy having Sphinx and discovering the engineering used to create this guy.

...this is MY opinion. It's not up for debate, I was merely stating, akin to thinking out loud, as to how I feel about this guy, not actually putting it out there as a piece of discussion.

However, since it's been addressed, I'll respond. Their schedule is ridiculous. Nearly 20 months for a combiner limb to be released. There's ZERO excuse for that. Zero. There's no amount of quality that excuses such a long wait time. There just isn't.

I...I get that. That doesn't change the fact that I want even just a render of the bot mode, now. It's not that difficult for them to blow up the picture. Kinda lazy of them not to.

I don't own any of the Feralcons, or anything MMC, for that matter, so I couldn't have gotten in on the early bird discounts. Had no interest. And that's great, it's a price you can agree with, that's fine. I'm talking about me, no one else. Me? I'm not sure it'll be worth it, their prices are ridiculous in my mind.

I agree with you, 20 months from the time a pre-order goes up until the final product gets in the buyers' hands is too long of a time. But that was the 1 figure, and it didn't hold up the rest of the line - meaning, they didn't wait to release Divebomb and then release the other 4. There has also been talk that the Feralcon pre-orders went up before they were really comfortable and to fight for competition when Unique Toys was going up. Also, MMC's Divebomb had a lot of remolding done based on feedback from fans in addition to whatever QC touch-ups were necessary. I'm hoping as a company MMC has gained a lot of insight into the process now because of past hiccups and things will get better for people who want to support them.

Worth to you or not, I gave examples of comparable figures to MMC's releases in the 3rd Party forum. Let's be realistic, MOST of these prices are pretty ridiculous. I'd rather pay about half of what all these guys are going for, but that's not the reality of the situation. I have no idea of what you may or may not own, just refuting your statement that MMC's prices are among the highest in 3P. And I don't think Sphinx is going to come out at a exorbitant price relative to past MMC products or the rest of the market - this is what MMC's customers expect.

he looks more intricate than invisible (wheels folding into chest instead of going on the back ala G1). no hollow wrists are a plus. something feels off with that head sculpt though. otherwise lookin good.

Think the MMC Mirage looks a bit weird in the robot and car sculpts. Compared to the more normal better looking DX9 Mirage toy.

 What happened to the promised 6.5 inch tall robot mode? :???: Looks more like a 6.2 inch robot height. 6.5 was the selling point as it was suppose to be a bit taller than the 6.2 DX9 Mirage robot toy. Image

With these Two DX9 and MMC Mirage toys, I'm in no rush to buy them. Gonna wait for the possible clearance sales. DX9/UT stuff usually goes on sale fast, Hoping the competition lowers prices faster.
