Bought Fans Projects Protector. Transformed it a few times, Then put it on a CHUG shelf. After a few years. Decided to sell it

Bought Fans Projects City commander years ago. Transformed and combined the toy. Put it on a CHUG shelf for a few years. Then decided to sell it.

Think I outgrew these toys. Didn't sell them for any profit, As I sold them for a bit less than what I originally paid for them.

City Commander's (and its various repaints) proportions were soooo off-putting; I thought it would look better in person, but nope. I bought Henkei Prime and official DIA Commander, only to give both away to my nephew one month later. What a let-down.

MT Hypernovae was a super let-down for me too. Once the "ermahgerd teh wingz" feeling subsided, it quickly dawned on me that I spent almost $200 (tfsource) on a glorified deluxe. The toy was a lazy retool and the asking price was ridiculous, so I sold it to a member a few months later at a price I felt was fair: $80(-ish) shipped.

TW Trace's transformation was cumbersome and the plastic felt "brittle" so I sold it a month or so after purchasing it as well. I also snapped off a piece of plastic during the first transformation, which quickly soured my feelings for Trace.

PE Warden. Nice robot mode...aaaaand that's it. Transformation to the "tank" mode was lazy and quite the afterthought. Warden posed nicely, but left me desiring more, so I sold him three months later for $70 or so.

FWI-Jetfire upgrade. Wow, for $100 the whole upgrade felt like cheap model-grade plastic. I was so afraid to move the parts so I quickly sold it for $60 a month later.

KFC Surgeon. Despite the negative feedback on this mold, I still bought it for $40 new. Upon receiving it, I got so upset that a few hours later I took a hammer to the figure. True story...

MT Battle Tanker. SUPER LAZY USE OF THE TANKER ADD-ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heavy parts meant posing Optimus was nearly impossible. I sold Battle Tanker for $20 a few weeks afterwards.

FP Last Chance. I wanted to see what all the initial hype was about. Upon seeing it in person, my response was: "I spent $60 on THIS?!?!" Sold it for $10. Didn't care to try and spend towards M3.

I sold many others as my collection needs changed, but the above toys were utter letdowns for me.

I dont sell my figures. Im not that picky and Im not in a position where I need quick cash. I did get a refund on a few really poor quality products after the replacement was bad too. Those items were KFC Perceptor and the SDCC dinobots set. I also returned x-transbots hoss without asking for an exchange because the quality was that bad. Other than that Ive kept everything. I still have all my movie figures too. Ive debated selling them, but I know in ten years they will be worth enjoying and displaying.

I've had few 3rd party items. I got FP Protector, but I wasn't happy with it. Same with Mebsuta and Quakewave. got rid of all 3 of them. Not a money issue, just didn't like them.

While I have never sold any 3rd party toys I have bought, there are three that I have played with briefly and then put away

Xtranbots Glider, because the arms tend to pop off if you look at them crosseyed

KFC mugen ghettoblast and tempest because they just feel...fragile

Almost did this with Warden, but I'm enough of a MTMTE fanboy that having him forever in one static pose on my shelf is ok since he's that version of the character.

This is why I'm really picky with my 3P toys, in case HasTak bring something out. As a result I've never sold a 3P toy. In fact, I've never sold a figure in general. I just keep them stored away if I get a better version.

I usually just get figures that HasTak never seem to do updated versions for, like Sixshot and the Dinobots. Or because they don't seem to get the scaling right. Tempted by City Commander but it looks dated and I'm hoping the rumoured Leader Magnus works out well.

The only 3P toy I've bought that HasTak already has a good version for is Maketoys Trash Talk and Cogwheel because I'm a big MTMTE fan and I wanted the drinks and My First Blaster for Swerve. Not too keen on their Gears but I always hated the character anyway so I can't be bothered to get the Hasbro version. My wife had the Hasbro Swerve already.

To each their own. But in my opinion most of those Hasbro versions are more of a downgrade than an upgrade. I care more about scale and G1 aesthetics than I do about "official". But thats just me.

Some of you people are so pragmatic that it's commendable, to say the least. As with some comments regarding selling figures, for me it's not about the money issue but the negative feeling of seeing the figure that I am disappointed with. That's why I sell my used figures at ridiculously low prices.

Gotta say it amazes me at times when people list figures I love as stuff they're disappointed with and sold off. Different strokes and all, but still.

Granted, I'm not much of a seller at all.
