Weren't the rumors weeks ago, That DX9 was going to be making a DX9 Rodimus Prime toy?
Looking at the cad files art pic. Think the parts on the pic look more like they belong to Rodimus Prime's robot mode. Less like they belong to Hotrod.
If the DX9 pic is Hotrod. Then Hopefully this is a FP Protector type toy. Where the Voyager-Ultra sports car bot toy. Combines with the trailer armor to form a Rodimus Prime MP-10 Leader class robot mode toy.

If he scales with Mania King, he's so bought.

Don't think DX9 is making only a Hotrod toy. Think it will be a FP Protector combiner type toy.
Think if DX9 is making a MP Rodimus Prime FP Combiner toy. Then the combined robot toy will scale with HasTak's MP toys like MP-10's robot mode not UT's mania king. After all DX9's Chigurh scales well with MP-10's robot mode.
Think the words, Light our darkest hour and Carry. Refer to Rodimus Prime carrying the Matrix of leadership. Think these words are hints that Rodimus Prime is involved in this toy.
Looking at the pic, I see some over sized and beefy parts that look like they belong to Rodimus Prime. Also most of the parts in the pic like the arms, back gold spoiler, head look more like Rodimus Prime than Hotrod.

Yea i posted this when it was rumored .
viewtopic.php?f=215&t=103018&p=1643787&hilit=possible#p1643787I got my fingers crossed for MP size as there's no way i'm buying the official Rodimus he's a ticking time bomb .
from what the rumors made out this should be a Hotrod - Rodimus transformation , but don't quote me on that

If he looks IDWish and isnt as fiddly as HasTak rodimus I would be in...I did just pick up the Hasbro release coz I needed Hotrod in my life..but he is my least favorite official release...his gimmicks are cool though...

God I hope this is MP style, it would save me the bother of messing around with MP Rodimus.

Given what DX9 has already done, would this more likely be MP than Classics/Generations? I for one would seriously consider replacing my MP pile of you know what....

Think it should be rather easy for Dr Wu or SXS to create a replacement MTMTE head for DX9 Rodimus.

Get why some dislike that MP-09 toy so much. Think it is a visually nice looking toy. Problem is, It's just to fragile to play with. To make the fragile worse, It has a complex transformation. Didn't care the the thin slim robot mode when the figure is viewed from the side. Think some beefy bulk would have done wonders for MP-09.

I agree with that, I just need a proper classics body to throw it on, even though I'll probably get shot down with this being MP scale

Interesting...so the entire rear end of the vehicle ends up being his wings? I would like to see this next to MP-09.

I was totally excited at 1st, but now not so much. I am in the very small minority who think that MP-09 is pretty damn good, so I don't need another MP Rod. I do like the legs on this better than MP-09. I'll wait for color pics to make final judgment. And I think we have a pretty damn good Classics Rod as well, no need for another of those either.

Not really a fan of this, but if they can actually pull this off with no parts forming then kudos to them.

Hmm not sure about this one, I think MP-09 still looks better, this guy seems to fall into a common 3rd party trap of too good for Classics not good enough for Masterpice.

As everyone has already said, MP09 still looks the part. For some (myself included) thats enough to overlook its flaws. Besides, we all probably have MP09 already so theres no need to double up.
But for those who dont have Roddy covered in their MP collection, I think this would be worth some serious consideration. I've always been a huge fan, but I'm on the fence. I like what I see though.

Those are some giant wings....might be confused for a Seeker and accidentally shot by his own troops? (At least that's what his troops will say rather than that they got tired of his whining, eh?)
Overall, I am once again impressed by 3P engineering. This does look to be a proper Rodimus Prime. Nice work!

Now I don't have MP Roddy at present and I'm still thinking I'll go down the official route (warts and all) I personally like that he can be displayed as either Hot Rod or Rodimus and given that this removes that option I'm out.

That's why I have both MP-09 and TRU Rodimus, 1 for each version. I wanted to get 2 of each for both modes, but if this does the robot mode well, and the price isn't too bad, I might get it so I can keep 1 of the official figures in vehicle mode.

Hey thats what i was planning too

Sidenote: anyone thinks its odd they'd tackle Roddy (who HasTak has already made) instead of say, Galvatron?
