This and Fansproject's female Dinobot will be the last ones I buy, after Planet X's Slag, mind. ;)

As much as I hate FOC, Ill buy this because its a new character so its not crapping all over G1 like the other FOC Dinobots. ;)

Pretty sure there's little to be lost from crapping on crap. ;)

Anyway, Paddles! Awesome! Even if his sole appearance was a short text story! More Dinobots! Woohoo!

I've been looking at these guys wanting them for a while, but this seals the deal.

No way I can pass up a Plesiosaur. :APPLAUSE:

Of everything that's been shown in this year's TFcon, this excited me the most.

Thou shall not speak thy G1 legacy in vein.

The Seacons are special. For one thing they never appeared in the US cartoon, and for another they're late G1, which is to be distinguished from early G1.

Don't get me wrong, I love G1 as much as the next man...but unlike others I won't deny it was incredibly bad, in a loveable kind of way.

While im sure the mass shifting and scale inconsistencies bothered you to death, the G1 cartoon was pretty groundbreaking when it came to controversial topics that would never be allowed to be in todays cartoons.

A good example was watching spike and carly as teens and then foward to the year 2005 and daniel is introduced. In a nonchalant sort of way they were promoting the idea of sexual reproduction to a very young audience.

Then you had this episode which pretty much challenged organized religon as being a fraud.

You really have to look beyond the crude animation to appreciate the G1 cartoon. I grew up with it so its not difficult to me.

I think you may be looking far too deep into a badly written children's cartoon from the 80s. If you want depth in your Transformers, look at something like Beast Wars. Or Beast Machines. Or Prime.

Anyway, how's about that Paddles then?

Actually the anti-religious controversy shown on the god gambit was discussed by the writers in an interview on the Rhino version of the G1 cartoon which I own. So that makes it offical. >:oP

The thing with Daniel, Spike, and Carley is my own personal observation since Daniel was introduced in 1986 less then 2 years after Spike and Carly were introduced as teenagers. So if you were 4 years old when you first saw them together on TV, before the age of 6 you would be asking mommy where did Daniel come from ? Maybe if you werent so busy nitpicking animation that was considered pretty good for its time, you could appreciate the storylines more. :-?

On Paddles....how about that teaser ? Its big, blacked out, and shaped like something we know is coming, eh ? :-B

I like G1 best and all, but there's a real tendency to elevate it beyond reason.

Anyways, I'm still down for Paddles. Not the other Planet X offerings, but Paddles alone will do.

I wonder if they will give Paddles some sort of flying capabilty, like a set of sculpted turbines or maybe a couple jet engines? Otherwise, I wonder what he does when the rest of them rage out & start destroying stuff? Paddles, the peaceful dinosaur.

Well, plesiosaurs (or however you spell it) were vicious things. Granted they ate fish, but considering how bloody massive prehistoric sea life was, you needed to be big and mean if you wanted to live in the ocean back then. So Paddles would still be one big mean mother hubbard in dino mode.

Yeah, I know but they needed the whole water thing. That was my point.. He isn't a land based Dino.

He can...waddle. Or crawl. Or whatever.

And in any case, he has a robot mode for that silly land business.

Honestly, aquatic TFs are underrated.

Yeah, I think you're missing the point. Haha

In the game, Grimlock did his most damage when he was enraged, in which he was in beast mode. I assume the same for the other dinobots including Paddles. Without being in water or some sort of ability to fly or hover, when he's pissed he will have to wait on the decepticons to come to him. That was my question. Whether or not PX would think of this scenario or not. Just speculating since this thread is nothing but a silhouette right now

Plesiosaurs, I'm pretty sure, could move on land, presumably by slithering or crawling. And with that big long tail and massive neck, he could easily thrash about and break Deceptichumps into pieces. And that's not even counting any ranged weaponry (breath beams, missiles etc) he might have.
