Posted: Fri Jul 24, 2015 12:12 pmI wonder if Perfect effect might consider selling just the chest pieces on their own or reworking them in other colours... I don't dislike the existing Superion head so I don't really want the head.
Also I might like the chest piece for Scatter shot too. and maybe even Galvatronus if it looks OK (in the right colour).

Posted: Tue Jul 28, 2015 5:27 amI understand selling the crotch plate separately might not be worth a whole separate kit like the separate kits for Superion and Menasor, but I am slightly sad I can't just get Optimus's hands and feet. Maybe the crotch plate won't add too much to the cost?
I am a bit on the fence, anyway. So maybe it won't matter. I plan on using my red Combiner Wars Optimus with the upcoming wave of '84 Autobot limb-bots. (I don't have any interest in getting the white Optimus.) And Sunstreaker's hand/foot piece is kind of important to his individual modes, as well. So I was thinking this might be the one Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors gestalt I stick with the stock hands & feet for.
But I haven't made up my mind completely yet. We'll see, I suppose.

it's a shame they didn't name that White Optimus something else like Nova Prime say... having two Optimus' is OK I guess and the 2nd being a repaint is also OK - but I would have preferred that the 2nd one was a G2 themed repaint instead as at least that would complement the G2 Combiners and not detract to much... I understand why the did what they did - but I remain a little torn over the idea of a White Optimus Prime being Optimus Prime (and not Ultra Magnus or Nova Prime instead).

I imagine once upon a time they might have made this as Ultra Magnus... but in this line, they actually went and made a unique Ultra Magnus!
In a world where they didn't make the Leader Class Magnus, though, a white repaint of Prime as Magnus, with a Magnus head for the combiner mode and the combiner's chest area remolded a bit to look like Magnus's chest, could have been a cool option. Not sure I would have gotten that, either. (I'm still quite content with my Classics Magnus with City Commander set.) But it would have been a unique combiner idea.

It really doesnt look like it doesn anything. Its just partsforming like in G1.

I can't tell you how happy I am that they're making a G2 specific Superion set. So awesome. Not to mention additional pieces for Bruticus.
And while I feel the Computron set is FULL of win, they might be jumping the gun. We have no idea what the upcoming Computron Box set has in store, and it might have fixed all the issues that the torso "Betatron" currently suffers from. So this upgrade set might be moot.

I don't think it's "desperate", rather just taking advantage of a piece they've already created and marketing it for a different figure. I say it all the time, PE should be making some serious bank off of the CW line. That same piece for Silverbolt/Superion does make the combined form look more filled out and pleasant. We'll just have to see what happens with and official CW Technobots.
Also, buying a CW Computron with all PE add-ons will still likely be half the price of buying 3rd party. Even Quantron at his lowest sale price was $330. I own Quantron already, but would gladly buy-in to an official Combiner Wars version of these guys, with the PE mitts and booties.

There is also Takara. I have a feeling they will also do computron and I am pretty certain the deco will be good for the chest!

Posted: Wed Feb 03, 2016 8:25 pmIm going all in on the G2 and Bruticus sets. I think ill play the waiting game with the Computron sets. We dont know if the Hasbro box set deco of scattershot will be the same red as the scattershot out now. Also I found it unusual that theyre breaking up the computron parts in 2 sets but not the G2 or Optimus Maximus set. I have a feeling they are selling the feet/hands separately to accommodate the Dawn of the Predacus set which obviously doesnt need a computron chest and head. Im sure theyre just waiting to get their hands on G2 Menasor and the TFCC 4.0 sets so they can match the colors. I love these sets. Hasbros stock hands/feet suck. Just because it is a kids toy doesnt mean it has to look like one. Thank you Perfect Effect for doing Combiner Wars justice.
