Looks like it's based on the cancelled Beast Wars Neo Unicron figure. Might even BE the figure with some modifications (such as being upscaled slightly).

On the one hand I'm happy with my Armada Unicron, and this seems a bit too much like a KO to me. On the other hand, it's awesome to see this legendary toy finally released.

I think the robot is crap , how chunky does he need to be ?

EDIT. The planet mode looks boring , i like the drill and hook weapons but not much play value there at all . an easy pass .

Aye, I'm not too keen on the robot mode. The Giger-esque sculpting is cool though, I will give them that. Also, to be fair on them, it's accurate to the unreleased BW Neo toy.

What worries me is the price of this thing...

Nope. Definitely "based" from the Neo Unicron proto, but it's an original mold.

What 17 yr later and they almost copied that old design down to the last detail

It looks cool, but I'm not enough of a Unicron fan to want to pay whatever ungodly amount this'll be (I'm guessing at least $500, based on what 3P Metroplex figures cost).
