I don't know... at first glance, it looks good. I like the bigger wheels (compared to the TT MP version), but something about the back end of the car looks a little off. Not sure how, but something under the side exhaust pipes doesn't seem to line up well.

If this had some sort of trailer/Rodimus Prime upgrade feature I'd be more intrigued. I basically want MP-9 without the awful QC issues; that's what kept me from buying that figure in the first place.

So is this a Masterpiece Hot Rod? What would be the reason to have it over Takara's?

This is in fact their take on MP Hot Rod to scale with the rest of their stuff. I think he's slightly bigger than MP28, and significantly smaller in the backpack depth.

As for reason to have it? He might be better in hand, or he hits you in the feels more? I dunno. I really wish this stuff was easier to try out than it is. With regular mass releases I can buy it and return it if I don't like it. With this stuff, since it's more boutique, you can't just buy it and say "nah, not a fan" and get a full refund or something easily. Which is a shame. Although maybe that's why 3rd Party works so well, if it was in the regular retail channels there would be more pushback from Has/Tak?

Pardon the rambling. My coffee hasn't kicked in. Regardless, I'd like to check this guy out!

you could do what ironhidensh does. buy and sell the worse one and if it ends up being the 3rd party one then you can sell it faster.
im gonna do that with pf-01 caesium and gigapower grassor and probably end up keeping both for some reason

Is this mistransformed? The shoulders are up very high and the hands only just reach the crotch.

The car mode is pretty cool - it looks like the "fat" version of the car often seen in season 3

I feel like they are movable a la MP9. Some pictures I’ve seen them lower, some higher. User customizable FTW :D

I definitely like alt mode. Wondering why they are including the “mature” face though..

Pfff we don't need that [-(
Putting red and yellow on an abstract robit doesn't necessarily make him Hotrod.

You've convinced me! Pretty sure it was based on some concept art or something somewhere..

You know what is missing? His "Daniel saw a hole in the shuttle before I did" visor that triggers an internal alert klaxon!!
