Diaclone(?) Recolors of Third Party Figures

So, I know that a lot of third party companies will re-release their MP-style figures in color schemes that match Diaclone figures, like Badcube's SunSurge in red as "Blaze" and the various 3P Dinobot recolors. However, I've seen some redecos of third party figures that, as far as I've been able to research, don't seem to match any Diaclone figures I'm aware of. Examples include MMC's Rally Terraegis (not-Trailbreaker in yellow) and Xtransbot's Taiho (not-Skids in a police deco, complete with light bar). Are these just whimsical choices on the part of the manufacturers, or is there some history behind them that I don't know?

Trailbreaker I believe was released in yellow at some point (possibly as a Transformers Joustra exclusive in Europe). Skids I reckon they just did in police colours because police colours are cool.

Yeah, I did eventually find yellow Trailbreaker on a Diaclone/pre-Transformers compendium. Police Skids still eludes me, so I'm betting you're right about it just being something Xtransbots thought would be cool (which they're not entirely wrong about).
