In Quebec, there was a stupid total lockdown on "non essencial" for the last two weeks. So no Boxing Day. At least the online stores were still functioning especially outside of Quebec. So I gave myself a gift and I bought the Generations Toys Gorilla (Chrome and White version) at Age 3 & Up. On sale it was 149$CAN taxe and shipping included. Having bought it on chinese Ebay, I would have save around 15$CAN, but the thing would have come in in over a month instead of a week.

Just for a refference, here's the original, inspired by the classic Transformers Beast Wars Optimus Primal:

He was interesting, but not original enough for my tastes.

But then, the A3&U sale made me aware that the oh sexy Chrome and White version existed. And I couldn't resist.
So here it is!

Image

That's one hell of a shiny YETI. People keep calling him "Primal Magnus" but I can only see the legendary Snow Ape.

Image

He's very posable and he feel good and solid in hand. With ratchet joints aplenty and diecast parts in his feet. He's a pleasure to handle and feel very solid. Only gripe is his thumbs have a tendency to pop off if you're not careful. However, they pop right back in easily and it's better that than breakage.

Image

The big poster act as instructions, but it's only from bot to beast and they are hard to read. However, the transformation is pretty simple and easy to figure out so I barely relied on the instructions.

The result is a pretty damn awesome bot mode.

Image

I changed his lips-faceplate for the included plain one to make him more his own character. He have a light-up fearure for the eyes but the other reviews all told that it was not worth the hassle.

Image

The swords can store on both the gorilla and bot's back. The also plug solidly in his hands.

Image

Include is the double-blade handle. You just remove the chrome blades from the regular handles and plug it on that one. It's cool, but I preffer the individual swords.

Image

Obviously, he still pose very well and is perfectly balanced.

Image

Optimus Glacial deserves the premium spot in my living room!

I don't buy 3rd Party often because most are just a repeat of what we already saw in one form or another officially. But from times to times, something unique and awesome come along! :)

Wasn't a fan of Gorilla mode but as a Yeti it looks neat.

If you can and have the patience to import him from China, he's really worth it.
He also feel GOOD and SOLID in hand. A feeling that is pretty much gone from mainline official Transformers since a few years.
