Quick review: Impossible Toys TRNS-01 Valkyrie

PROS

-G1 Arcee!
-good sculpt
-G1-esque box and instructions
-guns stay in the hands during transformation, much like ROTF DLX Brawn
-easy to transform
-good arm articulation

CONS

-questionable paint job, dirty
-delicate
-nothing really locks anywhere (torso and shoulder plates should but they don't feel like it, tabs are too small and the minute you try to pose the figure they untab)
-loose right foot (could be just mine)
-neck joint is REALLY stiff
-no waist rotation
-hard to balance
-bad print quality for the instructions

My call? For hardcore collectors and display only. And wait for a sale.

Thanks for the review.. Man that does look dirty and sloppy for a paint job.

Aw, really? THAT'S the paint job?

My Quints actually had a similar problem. On the Scientist the tentacles were stuck together thanks tot he paint (seperated them, but there's some white showing). I was hoping that this figure would be better, but ... doesn't look like it.

Although I still will likely get it.

Hmmm, thanks for the review. I am saddened that it's not a good paint-job. I'll still get it though, but I may have to do some touch-ups.

That looks really rough.

I know you get early releases of figures Pascal, was this one of those instances or did you by from a retailer who got finished final product? (Honest question, just wondering if perhaps some of the smudges and paint blemishes were because it was an early release from the factory)

*sighs*

I hope that isn't the finished product, because if it is, I'm extremely let down and now I'm not sure I'll be buying it.

It looks like a badly made knockoff, going for collector piece prices.

I think I'll have tremendous buyers remorse after paying $77.38 (including shipping) for ...that.

I'm seriously disappointed.

I got it from BBTS, along with 2 equally disappointing PCC 5-packs. :)

Oh great. That worries me even more. That's where I have her on order. -_- I wonder how the TFCon folks are gonna feel when they see their Nightbird exclusive has the same quality.

$91.73 with UK shipping.

I still consider it worth the money, though. I've paid more for some reissues\ehobbys with equally dodgy paint applications\manufacturing faults.

alright I guess I will be the first to totally condemn this thing.

I had two on order with BBTS which I have now canceled. The quality of this custom is atrocious, this is not the arcee I was looking forward too.

paint work is unforgivable, parts that dont lock together, unbalanced so posing is a pain.

I am fine with the price tag, IF what I get is fans project level quality. This is far far away from being in the same league as FP.

Now I'm even more anxious to get mine on Friday...

Wow, that is a real shame. The paint on my Sari, Fanzone, and Isaac Sumdac figures wasn't the best, but I didn't shell out $80 for them. I'd be pretty pissed if that arrived at my door looking like that. Not dissing anyone who paid good money for one BTW.

I passed on this as I just don't care for the face, and the limbs just look a little too slender, but that's pretty bad. I had hesitated, but not worth it just because it's a G1-ish Arcee.

Still hopeful for a headrobots head to the TFA version.

Bad paint job??? NO! It's Battle Damage Arcee!

Yes, This the same thing I say to all the TFs I buy which I can't return and has some defect or another.

This helps me sleep at night, really, instead of planning multiple styles and variations of torture and death of whoever made it or sold it to me, I Just say "Battle Damage (insert name of any transformer with any type of defect here)" It can help you too! Try it out.

Somehow, she kinda feels like a S.H.E. toy, only made with hard plastic.

I kind of figured this would be the case. Quality on the Quintessons was lacking and the TFA humans were not the greatest. All good looking molds, just poor quality. I was hoping that we'd see something different from Impossible Toys with this product but I guess not.

Oh man, that paint job is a real shame. I only hope that's an isolated incident, because that is not cool. Paying that price, I expect it to be decent at least, but that's sub-par. Still looks good in car mode though.

She does have knee articulation, doesn't she?

Thank god I have Defender in the same Pile of Loot, it'll lessen the blow of disappointment. I dunno, if my Valkyrie ends up looking like crap I might just return it.

I always knew Arcee was a dirty girl at heart!

*ahem* Moving right along...

Really great review, and it definitely answered some concerns I had about the posability and weight distribution. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my preorder due to BotCon stealing all my finance...

...but honestly, I think I'm still going to get it when I have money. It does look a little sloppy, but let's face it; for anyone that wants a G1-esque Arcee this is the closest we'll get. If you don't care, or just want a Classics, then Animated Arcee is fabulous. If you're a stickler for G1, I think it's better to invest now than to decide a year from now that you want it only to find it selling for triple the price on eBay or conventions.

Anyone know if Paradron Medic has the same dirtiness issue?

Shame about the grime and poor paint apps. I've got her and the Medic version in my POL, waiting for a few more things to come in before I ship. Am I the only one who thinks the she would look better without that extra "lump" of plastic on her outer hips?

Hey that's a different way to look at it. I never thought of that point of view  I just ordered both Arcee & the other chick & despite the cons being a reality, I'm such a G1 fan that I have to have my Arcee! :D
