How FansProject can make Crossfire 3 awesome

I didn't pick up Crossfire 2. I'll admit it looks awesome, but there is one little detail that really bothered me.

Blast Off Explorer doesn't have a regular Maximus-style combination port. He needs a separate piece to attach to Onslaught. I'd have understood if they legally couldn't use that piece (though I still wouldn't have bought it), but here's the thing: Swindle Munitioner (that's not even a word) does have one of those pieces!

So here's my vision of FP's new Crossfire 3 upgrade kit for Constructicon Maximus.
1. Obviously, give both of the new figures regular combination ports. Get rid of those extra pieces. New hands and feet I would love, but extra pieces just to attach? Sorry, no.
2. Don't go too nuts with the G1 tribute. Devastator was so different from the Scramble City-style combiners that Constructicon Maximus was also tributing, I'm worried that FP is gonna do something crazy like give us another bulldozer, crane, or excavator, or make Long Haul the waist again.
3. A new head and chestplate would also be awesome.

P.S.: Please don't start a flamewar over this.

I like those extra pieces. It gives the sets much more playability and makes it worth the extra money this stuff costs. The fact that Fansproject can make these pieces work and make sense in all modes is a testament to Fansproject genius. It makes sense in the natural progression of things to assume that crossfire 3 would be Constructicon Maximus, but there has been nothing to suggest that it would be him. Some people claim that Fansproject have said they have no plans for it. Maybe Fansproject will come from way out of left field for crossfire 3.

Okay, yeah, but if they'd at least give us the option, that would be great.

I think it's important to rember that they aren't interested in making an Energon type of combiner, where the limbs can be rearranged and shared between combiners. Even Crossifre 1 is used with specific planes in a specific way of combining them.

I don't see much point in poo-pooing the additional connector peice when all the other bits are nessasary for the full robot too, including hands and feet. If that bugs you, then the Energon combiner alone should suffice, shouldn't it? Or you can pick and choose which peices to use from the set and leave off not-Blast Off entirely.

Personally I'd love it if they could "go nuts" with a G1-ification of Energon Devestator. But I don't think the can or will.

The port is separate a reason.

FP wanted it to look more like the G1 design and give him more articulation and in order to make that they had to transform Vortex differently. But the way they needed him to transform made it impossible for him to use his combination port so they made an extra one. But this one made the shoulder bulkier and in order for Bruticus to retain his proportions and "symmetry" they had to do the same with Explorer.

And the way FP can make Crossfire 3 awesome is just by being FP.

While the extra bits for combination can be bothersome in some aspects, for Crossfire 2 I think their man purpose was to improve articulation for the complete combiner. FP could have designed Explorer (Blast Off) with a regular built-in combination port, but I think they chose not to to benefit Bruticus' articulation. He's capable of so many more impressive poses now because he can lift his arms outwards. In my opinion it's definitely worth it. Even if there are extra bits, they each have a use in every mode, which is ingenious to me. If they were useless like some of the G1 combiner parts I'd agree, but they always have somewhere to go, so I consider them a plus.

I'm hoping FP does Devastator as much as the next person, but I do have my doubts. They might do that snow-themed combiner concept they teased a couple years back instead. It seems like a logical step to go from making a set of hands & feet, to complete limb bots, to a full-blown complete combiner. I probably wouldn't get it without any sort of TF homage, but it seems more likely to me that they might go for that, especially if they've stated they have no plans for Devastator.

Munitioner is a word, by the way. ;) Not a very common one, but still.

Dude just buy the set it is freakin awesome all the extra stuff just makes it that much cooler and they wouldnt be combaticons without a ton of weopons and everything goes somewhere, nothing gets left out thats the best part because everything fits somewhere in alt mode, robot mode and combined mode. and i liked that FP keeped the onslaught base mode. it is a great kit and its super detailed everyone that has seen mine is amazed. you are really missing out if you dont get it.

my only gripe is i wish they had given brawl a main cannon so it looks more g1 than energon or some cool parts to bulk him up in robot mode and make him look like he can dish out a beatin'

I personally hope that FP dosent do a constructicon maximus as we have the tf club devastator coming soon and it would be nice to see a different combiner that nobody has done yet to make them unique like there current products have made them so unique

Speaking of every part has a place.

I just discovered a place to hide his big ass long range rifle. Fold it in half and attach it to the back back between the two shotguns. It sits in there somewhat loosely but it fits and stays there.

I just have him posed with the knife as his primary weapon. I had the long range gun just laying around and it was bugging me so i hunted for a place to stash it on him discriminately and voila! that spot revealed itself. Works for me and now it's not laying around.

Man this is an excellent set. Sure stoked i bought it.

dude thats a good idea i might try that out. i love my combaticons i thought it was cool when i saw it on here but when i first gt mine and opened it up it was way cooler in the flesh or plastic if you prefere. i just wish that there were some parts to make brawl bulkier either that or i will have to get some green stuff and do my own thing on him
