3rd party suit of armor trailer for MP Rodimus Prime,Anyone else want it made

I've been reading tons of transformers fans reviews & U-tube videos.
basically about transformers fans being disappointed in the MP Rodimus Prime toy.

mainly the complaints seem geared towards the trailer making the
takara version worth double the price.

So my question to everyone. Similar to the 3RD Party Protector trailer
armor for classics hotrod. Would anyone like a trailer suit of armor
for MP Rodimus Prime? basically the MP Hotrod sports car would plug
into the suit of armor trailer in vechicle mode. then the suit of
armor would break up into pieces to make the MP Rodimus robot mode
look more impressive. like forming boots & thicker shins. new
forearms,a flip down chest piece, new waist piece. new back pack with
either shoulder canons or wings. maybe a smaller battle station like
the protector version has.

How about saving money, buy the cheap priced hasbro version sans the
trailer. then buy the 3rd party suit of armor trailer for Hasbro MP
Hotrod

the 3rd part trailer will do more than just open up. the 3rd party
trailer will break up into armor pieces & form boots, forearms, chest
plate,waist plate,shin armor,back pack,etc..,all this will attach to
MP Rodimus's robot mode to make him look more awesome. Some times
you've got to pay a bit extra to get a awesome looking work of art.

If you go the hasbro route & get the toy for around $60. the 3rd party
trailer armor will cost around $100. $160 is still $40 less than
takara price & you get a better trailer that form armor pieces for the
robot mode similar to protector & Rid Optimus Primes super sized toy.

I really dont see a need for this because the figure already converts to Rodimus Prime w/o having to be a "parts former"

I think it would be kinda dumb to make a trailer for something that already has a trailer.

Just as Fistful of Energon said, Hot Rod already converts to Rodimus Prime on his own.

At $200 I might as well get the full blown Takara version with the trailer instead of waiting an additional year and a half for FP to make a trailer upgrade.

To me, FP is there more to fill a void for things that never were like the Ultra Magnus armor or the Combaticons. There really isn't a need for a MP Rodimus trailer since there already is one.

I seriously doubt this would save any money as a 3rd party armor trailer would be expensive on it's own. Seeing as though Fansproject's Protector armor is $80 and that fits a deluxe figure. That plus Hasbro's Hotrod would probably be the same price as Takara Rodimus Prime or more.

With all the problems people have been have with the MP Rod I just don't think the market would be there. If the official trailer is damaging the toy I don't think FP is going to go anywhere near this one.

MP Ultra Magnus, yes! MP Rodimus Prime, no...there's no need. Now if someone wants to figure out a solution to the spoiler/trailer connection issue that doesn't require sanding down parts, I'm all ears! Can't say I was too fond of the look of Peaugh's trailer post-sanding in his review. As I feared when looking at mine, it is/would be pretty noticeable. Maybe if you only sanded down the top of the slot...I dunno. But so far my plan is to wait for the Hasbro version and f**k that one up...or better yet, hope the spoiler isn't painted!

If memory serves correctly, somone attempted to make an Ultra Magnus armour and it failed horribly. I think they even got as far as making preorders only to cancel them shortly afterward.

What's all this about issues with the trailer connection? I don't own the figure and I won't have it anytime soon. You made it sound like the yellow spoiler on Hot Rod is actually painted and not casted in yellow. If so, then why on earth would they do that? It seems rather ridiculous that Takara would knowingly release something with obvious amounts areas for massive paint wear.

The trailer really doesn't need to be armour for Rodimus anyway. The main function of Masterpiece is to take all the best aspects of the G1 toy and the animation model and make the best representation of it possible. The trailer is really just a way of making the G1 trailer cooler. The FP trailer was designed to make the Rodimus figure not only change form, but also have the gun trailer option as well. Since Hot Rod can transform into Rodimus on his own the trailer's only focus is to transform into the gun station.

If FP even attempted something for a MP figure, I'd think they'd attempt Megatron first. I could see them making an upgrade package in which the missing components of his gun would be able to reinforce his weak legs. Actually, I want to see that happen now.

I wouldn't write off the idea of a KO trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if it was weeks off being released.
MP-01 has several KO Trailers which were cheaper than the Takara one and some were better too. Time will tell. I'm holding off guying Rodimus at the moment he is way over priced just like MP Grimlock.

Bring on the Hasbro version even if I need to wait a year to get one at a good price

the only way id consider that is "if" FP made it and theyve made it clear their plans for 2011. so no i wouldnt consider it. echoing the sentiments of others here id rather have an accurate trailer for magnus.

Kinda useless, as others have said. It's got a trailer with it.

There was an attempt and it didn't happen, but I'd still be somewhat interested. Only somewhat, though, because I haven't even bothered with MP Magnus since without the armor, there's just not much point. There is a guys that was doing them custom, though, that looked decent, but I believe the price was rather crazy...which is kind of to be expected with one off customs.

The slot on most trailers is too tight due to it being painted, and yes, the spoiler is also painted. Between the two, most just don't have enough clearance without paint scraping. Some claim theirs have little to no issue, others it's a bigger deal. Mine appears to be one of the worse off, but I'm not willing to jam it all the way in to find out just how bad it is. I started to barely put it in and it appeared obvious it was going to be an issue...so I tried putting a kleenex over the spoiler to see how tight a fit it really was and I couldn't do it without the kleenex starting to tear up.

Apparently that kit exists in Chinese KO stores in Hong Kong...

I assume you speak of the crappy one there were pre-orders for...that one looked like total crap. If they are out there, I doubt they're flying off the shelf.

The 3rd party city commander trailer/armor was sold for $80 & that was for a voyager sized toy.

so a 3rd party trailer/suit of armor for MP Rodimus should cost around $100.

If they made a trailer that was just a shell that could help him turn into vehicle mode I'd buy it. That would be cheaper and less dangerous to the toy. But full on armor? No, not so much. Apparently HR is very fragile and it's not worth it to even try giving him armor.

I actually own the Takara MP Rodimus/Hotrod toy & have transformed it a bunch of times. the toy isn't fraigle. the joints are very tight & the toy engineering is superb. the joint technology is similar to those used in voyager & leader sized toys in armada, energon, cybertron, animated & the movie verse TF toys.

MP Megatron is a extremly fraigle toy because they toy uses pins as joints in the hip sections of the waist & upper thighs. also the diecast parts are right above the joints & make the toy very loose in the joints like the feet joints.

Takara MP hotrod is a sturdy toy & is very strong & stable on display poses on a shelf.

ADDing trailer armor bits to this toy shouldn't be a problem. as the toy is very tight in the joints, well balanced & it was designed with superior toy engineering.

The main problem why various TF fans are calling the Takara MP Rodimus/hotrod toy very fraigle. is due to the tight space when you squeeze the car into the trailer it scratches the spoiler/wing. fans don't like getting scratches on TF toys they paid over $200 for.
