If this is reasonably priced - say $20 I could be tempted.

14 bucks. Not too crazy, but a bit much for one non-original part.

I don remember Menasor ever using the sword in the G1 cartoon. Or a gun either.

Didn't he briefly use his sword in one of the "5 faces of darkness" episodes?

I wonder just how many parts they'll do for Menasor. since he's my favorite, they might finally get some money from me.

Shiny, but I don't have a menasor, so I'm not bothering.

Not sure how much I want to mess with my G1 toys. They have much more meaning to me with their original stuff.

I thought Predaking was going to get some posability additions, and I doubt anything worthwhile could be done on teh G1 figure, so no matter how much you dress it up, it's never going to be able to fulfill the designers original vision. What's with all these sword additions, and something like this needs to go with a figure that can pose well with it, menasor will just hold it out straignt or upside down , having it with arms straight down and sword at 90degress will just look stupid. G1 figures don't need new shiny weapons, well not before they are given some posability and asethetic upgrades.
There are alot of g1 figures that with some simple cutting and some ball or ratchet joints could be brought to life. Thing is, it was possible back in the day, it was down to budget, even early versions of Prime/Convoy had knee ratcheting joints, not that they did any good without joints at hips etc. The joints were later removed. And if you look at all Diaclone/Microman etc, basicaly anything pre - transformers had joints everywhere and had seperate legs. Its a joke how they had joined legs, I heard it was to do with safety, but the early figures passed.

Don't just make it bigger, make it glow like in Masquerade.
Put a battery in it.

He uses it a few times. "Masquerade" and "Five Faces of Darkness" are two notable examples.

As years have gone by, the standard of artwork has improved dramaticaly, but why? People have always been able to draw, Marvel comics, have had improvements and stylisation has alot to do with it, but this is more than stylisation this is an issue with quality.

Actually there HAS been a major improvement in animation in the intervening years, namely the ability to 'cut' and 'paste' without drawing directly to a cel. Computer-aided animation has been a boon that we don't immediately recognize. Just the ability to 'fix on the fly' is a major step forward than the early 1980s, where an error would crop up and simply be 'too late to fix'.
But this is off topic.
