KOToys Blue Colored Convoy for Powered Convoy!!

Looks like KOToys is up to it again providing some repaints to existing figures. This time it's a blue colored Classics Prime toy to go with your TFCon Powered Convoy/DIA Commander set. Or you can always just display the guy in some rainbow colored prime display, you choose. :P

I will definitely be picking this bad boy up for my Powered Convoy.

You know, I have a twitch: I can't justify buying a third party add-on for an official figure. For a third-party figure or KO on the other hand... Plus, he's blue! I love blue! :x

im sorry but it seems their making to many damn repaints. i mean for the seekers it works just fine but multiple colors of prime give me a break. also im in agreement with jelze i just cant justify buying a ko from anyone or anywhere even of third party stuff.but i guess theres a market for them so kudos to whoever wants them. ;)

And here I am still waiting for an all white Prime to use as my naked Magnus. White with silver and red eyes and a blue faceplate. Seriously, is that too much to ask for?

Now, that's a sexy bitch... make it $20 and I'll consider it. It is a KO after all, Mike.

I clicked the link expecting to like it. I simply don't. I know it's a KO but it's so blatantly obvious that it is that seems to be ruining it for me. If Hasbro were to release it, I would flip over backwards trying to buy quickly enough. This just doesn't work for me. Funny, because I wanted this for my Powered Commander. Oddly enough, it doesn't mesh as well as Classics Optimus Prime IMO.

Well, technically it's not suppose to mesh with Optimus at because its more of precursor to "Ultra Magnus" character we now know; the only problem I see with this is that there's no chrome that completed the look of the D.I.A. commander, which i think this blue classics/henkei mold might be better suited for than the actual Powered Commander TFCon version itself - but that's just me
Any what if, and I do mean IF, I were to get this knock or any, I have to alter the head, (basically some how construct a new face without a faceplate to make NOT look like Optimus)

Looks pretty well done, but I'm not interested. There's just too much blue in the overall look, it gets kinda washed out :\

I can understand your stance about, as when I really think about my reasons for getting are not concrete(would feel so guilty about having Optimus wearing an Alter  Magnus costume). Plus I would try to some modding to it to make it look less Optimusy  but it would probably be more sensible to get one of the cheaper knock-off and do that to....

My internal debate rages onImageImageImageImage

I've gotta say, I like my regular Prime with the armor better.. Maybe the yellow bits will help this figure out.

He looks fantastic in vehicle mode, he looks good in robot mode (even though he's missing paint apps), but the combined form kinda ruins it for me.

The blue panels overlapping his arms, plus the inner robot's forearm sticks out like a sore thumb.

Optimus blends into the armor perfectly, like he's meant to be the robot you see in combined form.

I'll be sticking with mine as is.

Agreed. That's another thing I thought of too would be how the dark blue truck panels on the arms would NOT blend with the red of the arm armor. Yep, DIA/Powered armor was specifically meant for Optimus/Convoy - no debate about it

How's the overall quality? How's the plastic?

Plastic seems fine, not thin, but a bit "slick", which I know some people don't like because it's harder to paint. There was a slight miss assembly in the smokestack gun, they had the flip down clip pieces swapped, so I swapped them back. The silver hubcap paint is sloppy in some places, might need touching up. Hip joints are a bit looser then they should be, but as you can see from the photo, he can still hold poses quite well.

He suffers from the same mistake as all the KOLD Optimus Prime Voyagers, there is one hole on the wind vane gun that's in the wrong place making it hard to combine the two guns into a backpack. You have to either make them link sideways, or only use one hole.

With their Black Friday sale I paid $20 plus shipping. I'm happy with it.

Hmm. Thank you for the info, I appreciate it. :)

Also noticed when I compared it to Classic Prime the elbows don't ratchet, they have a smooth joint. Doesn't really effect the toy, but I wonder if they need the extra ratchet strength when wearing a Dia Commander Armor.

The ratchet doesn't help. When you plug in the cannon of doom, the entire arm sags, and I have a Classics Optimus as the core robot.

I can vouch for that with my Hasbro Ultra Magnus/City Commander set. The cannon is just too bulky/heavy to keep posed in upright position for too long. I keep the cannon in hand but pointed towards the ground.

I picked up KOLD Double Shattered Glass Convoy and everything that was described above is the same, the gun assembly and the holes in the windvane gun. But despite that he is a very good figure, the joints are nice and smooth (great pose ability) and I never noticed the whole ratchet bit at first. It's a damn shame about the damn cannon being too heavy. I dig the idea and the design but WTF good is it if Magnus can't even wield the f*cking thing? :VEHI:

He can wield it. You just need be fiddle with the poses a bit. And he can always simply HOLD it; that's that mine's doing.

But, yeah, that gun was always the biggest design flaw with CC.
