An interesting teaser image has appeared on the Chinese toy forum ACToys of what could be a third-party Star Saber. As you can see in the image mirrored below the project is labeled DB2-01 Armored Saber, and bears a strong resemblance to Star Saber from the Japanese Transformers continuity. No other information is known about this project other than this mysterious teaser image.

the third party companies are going to bleed the fandom dry of their money if they keep making all of this awesome crap!

That Victory Saber looks AWESOME!

If it's a show-accurate represnetaion of the guy that can faithfully break down into the following components/forms (Star Saber, Victory Leo, Saber, the V-Atar, and the Brain of Courage), I may then be sold on this! :D

I basically agree with everything Sabrblade said, though I couldn't care less about the Brain of Courage, and I have no idea what the v-atar is (did you mean v-star?). My one hope is that this is Voyager or Ultra sized, as I don't wan't a Robot Masters ripoff, and I think a leader-sized figure would be too big (plus it would jack up the price). Lastly, I'm not buying this if it's much more than $100.

If it disassembles, and has decent articulation, he's so mine...

I have a custom Star Saber I'm pretty happy with, so this will have to be pretty awesome for me to get it.

I wonder how it took this long for 3rd party companies to know that we want a Star Saber. :-(

Hate to be a buzz kill, but that looks a lot like Robotmasters Victory Leo.

Would be nice if it were an actual figure though

Maybe when I see a prototype I'll get my hopes up. But for now I will stay unusually pessimistic.

The legs are pretty different:

RM Star/Victory Saber also doesn't have proper knee articulation. Could be anything at this point though. But if they are planning a 3rd Party Star/Victory Saber, I'm interested.

Nothing beats the original. One of the crown jewels of my collection!

Been waiting for this… if it should come to fruition.
Though I'm still hoping against all odds that FP's "HeartMasters" will somehow end up including a Super God Ginrai AND a Victory Saber (cuz just a Star Saber isn't enough!).

I feel the same way. art is just art. I need to see some type of built model/proto type to determine the toy size,poseability,features,design/sculpt,etc...

My ideal 3rd party victorysabre toy would be as follows: 2 voyagers that combine to form a leader sized super combined robot mode.

What I don't wanna see is a deluxe toy version of starsabre. that comes with victoryleo armor parts to form a voyager sized toy. I kinda want the victoryleo armor parts to also form a victoryleo robot & lion modes.

I'd be happy with a Deluxe BrainMaster Star Saber (though he'd be tiny!) and a Deluxe Victory Leo that combined to form a Voyager/Leader Victory Saber if only because two Voyagers would mean $250-300 in third-party dollars… :(

Once I get Victory Leo, he'll be a crown jewel in my collection.

For now, Star Saber and Road Caesar will continue to shine their awesome equally.

that price for 3rd party voyagers you listed is like 2 to 3 times higher than they actually cost.

please go to BBTS.com & check out the prices on 3rd party voyagers.

Like what? Scout-sized FPs are $45-50. PE's are barely above Legend if that and run $30-40.
Knightmorpher might be considered Voyager and runs $100 and is a lot less complex than a Star Saber or Victory Leo would need to be. X-graver is maybe hovering b/t Deluxe and Voyager and people are bitching about paying $80.00 for it. Sonicron is only $60 but most people think (if it doesn't get some major mods before full release) it's a QC PoS. If $250-300 is 2X-3X higher, as you think, you seriously think you're gonna get quality 3rd-party Voyagers for $40-75 each? That would be awesome but I'll believe it when I see it. It's full-on design, not just retooling existing molds like iGear's Seekers (which is no slag on iGear, I think those are sweet).

Awsome, but ... there's already so much I want .... even just from 3rd party guys.

Maybe they'll start to price more competatively. I wonder how long before the market is oversaturated with expencive 3rd party goods.

I like my Sonicron, even if he doesn't lock in as tight as I wish in alt mode...

I'll only buy the toys if their both voyager size that form a leader sized robot.

If their both deluxe size then I won't bother buying them. WHY? Because starsabre has to many combining gimmicks withing himself to squeeze into a deluxe sized toy.

if the starsabre toy was/is deluxe size, then it look & function just as horrible as the robot masters version.

a deluxe 3rd party starsabre toy would mean the following:
(1)a regular jet/bot toy that is smaller than a basic & around legends size. (2) a jet booster/exo-suit that is deluxe size.
(3)a brainmaster that is smaller than the original 1989 brainmaster. most likely so tiny, the details/sculpt & poseability are not that great. (4) a deluxe sized starsabre would mean certain features the 1989 toy had would be absent in the deluxe. as the more the the toy is the more harder it is to fit everything from the original in the new mold when doing updated homages.

I can understand not a lot of us fans have the money to buy the 3rd party TF toys. but to wish for a INFERIOR product just to save a few bucks makes no sense. I'd rather see the most SUPERIOR product get made. If I can't get it now,I can always save up for it & get it one day in the future.

WHAT I'M Worried about is the Victoryleo armor that goes on this 3rd party starsabre toy. I'm worried they go the SCF pvc route & merely include armor pices of victoryleo. without any way to snap the victoryleo armor pieces together to form a victoryleo lion & robot modes.

My solid guess this 3rd party starsabre, it'll be a voyager or bigger sized 3RD party toy. my guess is the victoryleo armor parts will increase the starsabre toy from voyager to $27 usa ultra size, maybe leader size.

don't put words in my mouth. being happy with something and wishing for something are two different things.
also, did you read my caveat, which you quoted: "(though he'd be tiny!)"?

and why the f**k are we arguing over a low-res piece of line art associated with a rumour?

does the interent always have to be stupid?

I can understand TF fans not agreeing on the internet. but please lets debate in a polite & dignified manner. crossing the line & throwing insults is not permitted & against the policy rules here on seibertron.com

that last word you wrote in your reply was a insult towards me & other fans on this site.
