Hey guys. Just got my Thundershred from my parents place and I opened it and Transformed it. It's a great figure but I made a fatal error:
THERE ARE TABS ON HIS CROTCH PIECE. Be very careful with these... I already broke one of mine...

My pleasure. I'll probably replace mine and use the other for parts or something. It's got a pretty wicked clip-on piece that I would mind seeing on my HFTD Tomahawk

Also, here's something interesting about him:
His yellow chest plate is hollow. I'm too afraid to try to see if it opens (until I get a replacement), but I just wasn't sure if it was trying to homage the G1 figure in that sense...

Here's an update:
Fatal error number 2: The tabs of the claws/jaws/shuriken are very very VERY tight. True I wasn't the most cautious when trying to Transform him again, but one of the tabs broke, and I don't know how long I could've avoided this with how tight they are. Still very happy with the toy, I'm just going to have to buy a new one and mess with it as little as possible....

$48 and they can't make the tabs out of metal or a sturdy plastic? Lame.

This is worrying. Is the plastic like the tiny brittle tabs in MP Megatron? Both parts that broke were that metallic grey plastic yes?

No, just the one claw. The tab that broke on his crotch was black. Personally, I think they shoulda beefed up the tabs on his crotch or not included them at all... But the claws, I just don't know what to think. I'm def. replacing him and not messing with it much.

Would you recommend leaving the claws in insect configuration on his shoulders then? Thus avoiding dismantling them repeatedly to form the shuriken and wolverine claws?

Yours still hasn't even filled? Mine's already filled sat in "warehouse" for days and finally shipped.

You could do that and it would be safe. You could also just have reaaaallly long claws on his arms. Those are the safest bets. I'd still give it all a try, though. It could just be that MINE happened to be a really tight figure. If you dismantle the claws/jaws make sure it's more of a 'straight-out' kind of action instead of a wiggle action.
*edit* That sounds really dirty, but still applies.

I've been messing with the claws on mine all day. Trying to decide which way to display it. Haven't had a single problem. I do worry about the plastic that the insect legs are attached to, but I'm really careful with that part. It's a great figure.

BBTS getting the highly anticipated figures (3rd party, MP's) later than the competitors is getting rather old. Normally I just suck it up and wait it out but I have been waiting for this guy so i can ship my POL too long.

Got the notice mine was ready on tuesday. It's sittin in houston right now

waitin to be shipped to me
I think this was a random case with the figure..After watching Baltimatrix and peaugh's review( especially peaughs, he is so rough with new figures) I can say this sound like an isolated incident. Peaugh MANHANDLES poor thundershread, to the point I almost wince when he tries to take something off..

My pre-order from BBTS still says pre-order, expected to arrive on the 8th. Not sure what to make of that.

Maybe cause I pre-ordered like early July I have to wait till a second shipment arrives? Any rate, looks like a neat figure.

Probably is just an isolated incident. I just know that my claws were so tight on the wrist fixture that I kind HAD to manhandle. Regardless. I'm replacing him. He's super cool.

If I notice that on mine, I will take a fine needle file to the socket I think, make a bit of room.

just got mine in today from BBTS. first off, he is bigger than i expected, about the same size as bumblebee! his bug mode is pretty big too, on par with a regular deluxe car.
those claws scare the living daylights out of me though. its totally unexpected for fansproject to have tolerance issues, but the wrist guards are too tight and the holes in the claw mid section are too loose. im happy with my purchase, but care will definitely be taken especially when playing with this toy.

Ive given up wondering whats up w/ bbts. Honestly if it wasnt for the fact that they carry just about everything else I collect and I already have a POL building, I would have already gone somewhere else. I wish they would make the same efforts that TF source and ToyArena make to get these hot items first. This always seems to happen and its gotten old.
Rant over
