It looks as though Impossible Toys will be adding another popular Generation 1 character to their line of non-transforming action figures. They recently uploaded the teaser video embedded below for Alpha Trion. Take a look at what they have planned below.

Looks like a brick. A non-transforming brick. That's just sad.

to be fair, they do cater to the G1 crowd as opposed to the classics collector, so "bricky" would be a compliment. however, when i saw the thumbnail, it looked like someone in cosplay, not an expensive 3rd party item. easy pass.

Too chunky, and just looks like a bad custom. I don't even care that it doesn't transform, it really doesn't have to in my book, but still looks terrible.

Pass.

Pretty poor effort IMO. I know they're going for G1 but it looks terrible compared to their other figures.

Im all for this !!! Look at all the haters scared that their precious Botcon version will go back down to a normal value (AKA Thundercracker, Thrust, Dirge)

I own all the Quints and Nightbird and I highly recommend them. They fit perfect with the classics line. Especially scale wise. Not all characters on the G1 cartoon transformed. Alpha Trion was the father of all Autobots. He was created by Vector Sigma way before the inhabitants of Cybertron devoloped transformation technology. (which started with the Decepticons) So it makes perfect sense that Alpha Trion does not transform. as far as the "brick theory" It would be nice if the legs were posable as well, but if the arms/elbows move Im satisfied. You guys who say he is too boxy, what do you want ??? a female strippr body ???

People aren't hating it for not transforming, they're hating it for looking bad and not being poseable like their previous customs.

Thats why customs are called customs my friend. On the video if you look at the figure from behind, it appears to have knee joints. Im sure a good customizer could chop the hips and add articulation. Not my speciality, but otherwise the figure looks just like the cartoon. They nailed it on the spot. Just like they did with Arcee and Medic. The more posable delicate warrior Arcee looks like wrestler Chyna on steriods. Remember when they were saying Valkyrie and Medic were too sexy with the curves and felt she should have been more "boxy" ??? Are these the same people who are saying Alpha Trion is too boxy ???

They Call them Impossible toys, because they are impossible to deal with! The only way that this figure wouldnt be so brittle as to fall apart to the slightest touch, was to make him a brick. Nuff' said.

I understand your point. But I had no problems with any of my Impossible Toys figures. Especially the non-transformable ones. I did have a problem with TF Con exclusive Nightbird's arm falling off because of the screw hole inside her upper arm was cracked. So I filled the cracked hole with crazy glue and screwed a new hole when it dried. Easy fix. :D

Cool! An Alpha Trion shampoo bottle! My kids will love that!

What scent is it? Is it "No More Tears?"

You would think for a non-transforming toy that they would really attempt to kill it with the details and the articulations. Sadly that just doesn't look to the be the case...

I thought it was the Autobots that first developed the transformation ability; an attempt to counter the Decepticons overwhelming military might with stealth. I do agree that there's no need for Alpha Trion to transform. I wouldn't want any of the Original Thirteen to transform. However, with the absence of a transformation I would really expect superior articulation.

And it's fugly. Easy pass.

If you are making an non-transforming transformer, you need to at least build in decent articulation, or go for maximum screen accuracy.

Pass.

eh? three?

Oh, well it looks ok, but not worth and serious monetary reward. More like an accidental/impulse purchase than one that someone would plan for.

Well, since I don't own the Botcon version... I't like it because of that. i don't like it because it's boxy and has minimal articulation.

For Alpha, I'd expect the R&D to be channeled into good articulation and looking as screen-accurate as possible. This seems to do neither.
