you were about to combine them and saw it or you tried and it cracked i ask because if you got it off of ebay it may be the sellers fault. sorry to hear that ive had no issues with mine and i got the first release.

It's a known QC issue, sorry to hear you're having so much trouble. So far mine seems fine.

I assume you are referring to the flaps that wrap around Vortex breaking around the holes?

Any word on FansProject acknowledging this flaw and working to fix it?

How many times have you assembled and disassembled them, curious and is this more common than most? Since these issues first surfaced I have had zero desire to take apart mine. :VEHI:

And is it hooked to the Energon or Classics reissue? IIRC, the Energon connectors might be too tight. It was designed for the CLassics on which isn't as big.

We've already addressed this issue before, and I can tell you all it is not the figure that's the problem, it IS the connector! This is the only logical explanation, especially given that I've had the exact same thing happen to the flap on the opposite shoulder FOR NO REASON AT ALL!!! I swear to God one day I was taking the combined mode apart again after a prolonged time after the last fix and when I removed the connector for Explorer one of the pegholes on the flaps THAT WEREN'T EVEN IN USE BROKE STRAIT THROUGH! What the **** Fansproject!? The oldest thing I got from them that I've converted back and forth more times than I can remember, despite initial worries that the leg armor might break, is completely intact and undamaged, yet in under a year since it's release I've had parts break on my Crossfire sets including a part that I don't even use!

I've already tried directing their attention to this problem and never heard back from them on it. If someone else wants to give it a try then go ahead, cuz this is just ridiculous

If I remember correctly, somewhere on the packaging or in the instructions, it says they aren't capable of repairs or replacements. It's all on the retailers to deal with it, really.

True, and I've already gotten a replacement part from BBTS, but my point is that irregardless of what some owners of this set may say, this is not a QC issue it's a design flaw. The panels themselves are too thin and made of material a little too weak for what it's used for. I know we can't dictate how 3rd party companies work or what plastics they use, but at least they could listen to feedback!

Oh, absolutely. At first, I wasn't sure those panels would break. They were thin, but I was used to FP's quality by that point. I was shocked and dismayed to see mine had broken. I swapped the flaps from Blast Off's side and they ended up breaking worse than the original flaps did. I use a clear rubber band from a TF box to hold him on now. It bothered me at first, but I don't even pay attention to it anymore. Just glad to have the set, period.

Apparently they didn't listen, because Thundershred or whatever he's called is just chock full of breakage points.

Heck, even the flaps that form the feet on Protector are cracked. They didn't break off, thankfully, but there is a crack. =\

I just packed up my FP Bruticus for a move and I checked on this issue. I didn't have any cracking or stress marks showing up. Mine has been combined since I got him.

The only issue I've had is with explorers waist not being able to support an upward pose..It just flops down. Other than that I've had zero Qc issues with anything FP.

I will say they are terrible at communication though. I know they are a small company but we go months without a peep from them and they rarely address issues at all. They make uop for it though IMO with stellar figures and designs..I can handle them odds :P

I too just checked mine (again) due to this new thread concerning the problem....mine is still fine.

Mine has also been in combined form since I first got him during his initial release.

Food for thought
Shadowstream wrote:My brother and I are wondering if that isn't where the main problem lies: Assembly and disassembly. We never like to keep ours displayed any one way all the time so we've had it back and forth between combined mode. What if it's the removal and replacing of the part that causes the most stress, hmm? It seems like that since most of the people who posted saying they didn't have the problem have kept it in combined mode.

Also-
LiKwid wrote:The only issue I've had is with explorers waist not being able to support an upward pose..It just flops down.

If you're referring to the actual turning waist part I don't get how that happened. If you're talking about the ball joints on his hips I just did the old nail polish trick and not only does he stand up fine, the combined mode arm can hold up the big rifle on it's own now.

I can't believe no-one else has said this but I've seen (somewhere) that quite a few other people have had this issue.

I've been combining and separating, transforming my set several times and I've had no problems. I also tend to be very cautious with my action figures. If something doesn't budge theres a reason so I don't force the issue until I've done more research.

I've seen those pics and man, that is really bad damage. I was wondering if they came like that or if the piece was MISB, or both.

I was the first one to report this problem, months ago. I can attest that they do not come like this from the factory. They wear down on their own and break. Mine wasn't from transforming, mine was from leaving it combined. The peg just wore out the connector piece and it cracked when I pulled it loose for transformation.
