The Slagacon website has been update with a set of computer renders for their Vector Zeta exclusive Powermaster style upgrade for Classics Optimus Prime. According to the website the set is almost sold out and they should have a prototype soon.

The response to our Vector Zeta exclusive has been great, and we are nearly sold out! We’ve received from the designer a few files showing renders of a few parts of the Vector Zeta set, and should have prototype pictures very soon!

The head reminds me of Armada Jetfire and i hate that figure so i'm not interested in getting this one.

Does anyone else feel like they're rushing this at the last minute? I think this should've been made for next year. And are they just ordering these from Shapeways? Lame!

It has occurred to me that eventually someone somewhere is going to do a proper Powermaster Prime upgrade, so I'm going to wait for that.

I'm holding onto that hope as well. This really does seem rushed and if it is just a Shapeways piece, I'm out. How do they not have finished samples yet? Their convention is just over a month away.

We asked the same thing about TFCC Punch/Counterpunch, didn't stop anyone 8-|

And yeah, that face looks like beginners work. If this is any indication of what the final set will look like then I'm glad I'm not bothering with it.

I was laughing till I noticed that today is not April 1.
This is even uglier than the art they showed.

well, at least with Punch/Counterpunch the normal Sunstreaker and Sideswipe toys were out there, all it was was a repaint and new head, so there was a fairly decent idea of what he'd look like.

Surely if you're this desperate for a Powermaster Prime you'd be better off hunting down the original.

I own every version of the PMOP mold. G1, US reissue (multiple changes to the US mold), Fire Guts God Ginrai and Nucleon Quest Convoy. I'm still pretty desperate for a Classics version. Although I don't think I'm this desperate.

I think this could be interesting. We are just looking at a render and plus I think it's great we are getting a new face to PMOP. Kinda looks like from the comic books back in the '80s. Cut them some slack.

Pass. I'm still hoping FP or someone will get around to doing a proper PM Prime version. DIA Commander is the closest I've got so far, but it's not the same aesthetic.

I am still trying to figure out what the heck the finished product will be and what figure/series it goes with.

It's the head that is the deal breaker for me. It's just too blocky. I do hope another company does try to take a crack at it.

I'm also not really sure I'd like that it will be made out of resin as well. Usually resin is more fragile than plastic correct?

No sir, don't like it.

Seriously, looking at the initial pics that came out a bit ago, then these same-level 'renders', it looks as though this is some first attempt by a total novice in his bedroom in his spare time. This is the kind of thing you'd find one of on ebay because the guy that slapped it together is attempting to get cash off of a very first try at a custom. CERTAINLY no where NEAR worth the pricetag, especially when compared to entire new and quality figures coming from third parties.

F'real, if you're reading this post and actually dropped cash on this item; You have my sympathy. There's third party folks out there designing perfectly new & kickass figures, after all.

WORD to this. Was hoping that Heartmaster would do the trick, but nah, though its still cool.

Was still pondering if I should pre-order this more than a month ago. Now looking at the render (and probably the final design since time is not on their side), I'm glad I hesitated.

The renders for this figure looked horrible so i decided to try to google more pictures of him since i already pre-ordered one. Well luck would have it that i found a couple of pictures of vector zeta on the artist's deviant art page.

and a link to how he did it!

Really, because the last I saw regarding this truly is linkage. It's a pass for me, easy. Even if the pics you provided are accurate, a reprolabels treatment couldn't help it. STILL waitng for a proper PM Prime treatment. Slagacon AIN'T it. Vector Zeta; http://www.seibertron.com/images/toys/u ... 813525.jpg

it definitely has alot of broad flat areas that could do with some beveling or molded detail, especially for the scale of the object, and the amount of detail on the original figure. its for the most part true to the (really awesome) design, take a few proportions. managing a design through different mediums isn't always the most intuitive process.

this guys art really is great, id do myself a favor and check out the rest of his deviantart, pretty interesting takes on organic transformers, and huge yet elegant designs of other mecha. If you've ever seen the anime Samurai 7 his robot-y stuff looks like it would fit in standing side by side.
