Has a Knockoff ever Tempted you to the point of INSANITY?

Iv'e been going in and out of this small store here in town for days now, just barely stopping myself from purchasing this Knockoff Combiner. Iv'e got like, no version of this guy (Predaking) but this variation of it looks like fun! It's Big, and it's shiny, and only $10.00, but the paint keeps me at bay...very off, and looks like it chips easily, plus the plastic looks brittle, and the chromey bits look VERY Fragile. Still, I find myself alured by this guy. Has this ever happened to you?

Dude, it's $10 bucks. If it's garbage, just toss it. That's a small price to pay to soothe the mania for another day, week or what have you.

Some people can't afford to throw away $10. I was in that situation myself in 2007. I saved for several weeks to see the first film.

If the paint is not toon accurate then paint it. I don't buy KO but that would certainly change my mind!

I'm always tempted by KO's, especially by the G1 stuff that's doing the rounds at the moment, stuff like Sunstreaker, Mirage, Wheeljack and of course the Dino's, all would look awesome in my collection.

However, I've had my hands burnt a couple of times now, which has really put me off KO's for life. I bought the HQ Shockwave and Devastator KO's a couple of years ago and was disappointed with the quality on both. Mixmasters arm broke, while Shockwave came with stress marks out of the box. His joints were overly tight, except his left leg which was just ridiculously loose to the point where he couldn't even support his own weight, which meant he kept falling over constantly.

So, in short, I either get an original or an official reissue, KO's in my experience, are a bit of a false economy.

well, for one, as you've seen, I'm afraid to paint stuff, I'll get over that fear one day with something smaller, this predafake is kinda big, and besides, he's a KO, meaning he needs more then paint. I bought a KO G2 Devistator from Big lots once that had virtually NO QC Issues, but this thing looks god aweful, and not worth it's price. It's not so much the figure itself that's driving me nut here, it's the fact that I don't own a Predaking. This kinda thing would look good on the shelf, sure, but I like to transform and pose my TFs, and he look like he'd break at the slightest touch...
EDIT: I'm not getting this thing. I thought something was off about him. He has Drills on his Lion's head and the like, and I think his limbs turn into vehicles. It really LOOKS like Predaking in bot mode, and there arn't pictures of his vehicle modes on the back (Knockoffs  ) but I think I used to have this same exact one as a small child...

I like buying the KO sometimes, gives me something to paint or use for other customs. Then again if your not one for customizing or $10 bucks is a bit too much for your budget I would avoid that store like the plauge then :P

Sounds like Brave Tiger from the series Brave Police J-Decker. Not nearly close enough to Predaking in my opinion.

If you don't want to repaint the KOs then conscript someone who will do it. But $10 for a KO set of 5 is not a bad deal. If it's the set I think you are talking about I was tempted by it at one time too. My advice: buy it anyways, if you don't like it maybe someone on the forum will take it off your hands. $10 + shipping for 5 deluxes is still a good price.

It's not him. It's it's own little thing, like, The head on the chest of Brave Tiger or whatever, does look alot like this, but that's the only similarity. aside a few wheels here and there, it looks like a badly painted predaking.

The only one that really tempts me is the K.O. Sunstorm. I really wish Hasbro/Takara would come up with one......

You know, I recently bought the G1 Devastator KO (the good one, with the chrome) and i was completely happy with it. Aside from the peg size mismatches from the original, it's pretty high quality. I had all 6 vintage constructicons from childhood, but had no accessories whatsoever for them, so instead of trying to track down each and every part/gun, I just opted to get the KO and sell my vintage figures on eBay. Before I got rid of my vintage constructicons, I took the time to compare each figure with its KO counterpart... they were virtually identical. I don't regret buying the KO for a second, given its high quality. In fact, I'd say it's pretty much Hasbro/Takara quality (at least the one that I bought). Wouldn't mind picking up a complete vintage Devastator one day, but for now, this is perfect. :)
